peanutbutteryum
Hi, I don't know what actually happened. I think my laptop might got wet a little without me noticing. I need my laptop badly for my school. Does anyone knows how to fix it or any place that's cheap for repairs? Please help. Thank you.
IkuTube
Troubleshooting a laptop that can't be switched on is difficult. Particularly so, if the source 'think my laptop might got wet a little' is not adequately explained. Is your laptop run on battery or it is power cable connected? How did it get wet - spillage? environmental condensation? For a quick remedy, perhaps 'dry' up the computer and try to switch it on using the power cable. Or, you may want to remove and reconnect the battery. The inability to boot is usually 'bad' hardware. You might want to go to Sim Lim Square where there are repair shops. There are some shops there that can diagnose immediately, but bear in mind that you might have to leave your laptop behind. Guest Green wing
If it is powered by cable, the connector could be faulty. Get a new power cable connector and see if it can bring electricity to the laptop to power it up.
Tihocan
I will advise against getting laptop repaired at Sim Lim Square. The repair guys are usually student or odd job worker trying to earn some cash and:- they don't have the expertise to do the job- they are not certified for such tasksHere's my terrible encounters.Brought my laptop to replace the dying fan 3 years back.I wanted to get it done at PC Dreams but they told me they don't have the parts.Had it done at another shop but later found out that he torn the LCD monitor cable and 5 of the status LEDs not working.CCB.A year later the LCD display finally gave way.Wasted 4 hours at a shop on level 4 and the Indian guy still not able to figure out how to start. And yet they asked for service fee and 2 more hours to finish it.I simply ignored them and walked out.Did not realize the SIGN, my mistake and I insisted of getting a replacement.Besides stuck-up attitude, the China guys at another repair shop asked for $225 to replace the LCD and cable. At the end of the day, paid $150 for a used LCD display panel and fierce argument over the damaged Bluetooth sensor due to their negligence.Should have took it apart and left without the bloody replacement.Maybe it was just bad luck but from then on I told myself NEVER EVER bring anything to Sim Lim Square for repair.I rather spend my resources sourcing for a new one. Cube3
Laptop is more limited by available parts, as opposed to desktop. Perhaps try Challenger's PC Clinic...?

abang
Isn't Sim Lim Square infamous for all the "poor" service and "terrible" business antics.TS, after 3 hours, is your laptop working now? Could it be just a sudden short circuit?
Firday
Isn't Sim Lim Square infamous for all the "poor" service and "terrible" business antics.TS, after 3 hours, is your laptop working now? Could it be just a sudden short circuit? yes I do agree... my sim card slot was damage by the sim card and the china "it" guy ask for fee to repair. my logic tell me that unable to repair... so I ask him - to replace a new one or what trick... he say, let him take a look first then decide....but ask for$50 for inspection. I told him already know the cause why waste my money. then he say, he will pull back the pin... omg...for $250. I decline it..so oblivious doing cheating in front of my face as if he professional in repairing. in the end, I bring back to authorise dealer to replace it - less then $200. when I collect back my phone, the personal was my fuck buddy lost in touch many year... he waive off but request for a fuck session which I don't mind. but beside the point. so beware about simlim square...their reputation is getting worst. I only go funan for servicing but pay more. sgclinic
