Look like TF offers attractive package S$63 per month for 42 Mths ($2646).

Any agent contact can share?

Is this a net cost? Very expensive for a 3 year + contract. Avoid contracts that are more than 12mths in tenure. You never know when the gym might close down and leave all members in the lurch.

Gym regularly at Calfit at Raffles Place....but the sauna and steamroom breaks down regularly and this round, will take up to end-June to be ready for use! - Is it like this for the other gyms too? Excruciating... :angry2:

Nope. Not all gyms are equal. Cali is probably now on a cost cutting spree.

Anyway, a gym that doesnt have members pulling apart your shower curtains while you are bathing or stealing your underwear or gym attire is a good gym :)

If I were a hot guy, I would love to have members pulling apart my shower curtains.

A cost cutting spree to avoid a fate like the gym in this article is always the better option for members :D

Looking for advise here. I would like to have access to a gym while visiting sg for 3 weeks. Not really looking for a sleazy gym with guys hanging in the toilets. Will be staying in the west and happy to travel but don't want to go into the cbd to gym. Which gym will be good for me? I usually do cardio 2 times a week and lift 3-4 times a week.

Thanks ahead. Would appreciate any help.

What a hypocrite you are. "Love to have members pulling apart your shower curtains", but yet at the same time liking the post of someone condemning others who are defending public sex. :swear:

I checked out Gymm boxx at bukit batok today. I was there from 2.40 till 4 pm. It wasn't as crowded as expected. The crowd started to pick up as I was leaving. Pretty new equipment. Just regular guys working out. No cruising as far as I could tell which is great. Some eye candy but everyone played it straight. They also have a loyalty card for casual visitors. Will definitely be going back while I am in sg.

Hi all..after reading this thread, am I right to say gyms are generally less crowded when they just opened say 6.30am or an hour or so before closing? I wanna try building this empty vessel of mine but worried if I get in the way of other gymmers^_^

wrong
morning . lunch . and just after work is the peak hour\

CBD gym peak hours are very standard, some big chains notably FF are less crowded after 8pm ++ i guess
generally TF FF VA in CBD are like that

friday nights are even more empty, super shiok. its like you pay so much $$$ just for that 1 night of all-you-can-do LOL

not all CBD gymsa re open on weekends, i.e. FF MBFC

but because its sian to go back to raffles place on weekends when you already give 5/7 days of your life there... so its generally acceptable crowded
just enough space and equipment for everyone

I wished the staff was a little bit more stricter at Safras' gyms.

ha...count yourself blessed if the staff don't fight with you the use of the machine, will be leaving them soon and thinking of joining either the one at OCBC arena or Dennis gym kallang, both are closer to my place ;)

california is in serious need of renovation/maintenance. seriously, don't join the gym unless its dirt cheap and short tenure.

given Cali Fitness issues in hk, (bankruptcy petition/ winding down). and that singapore ones are in such a sad state of maintenance (eg: black mold/mildew on shower curtains, ceiling surfaces, broken toilet seats, bugis steam room probably has a busted termister, so that its 3rd degree skin melting hot if you sit (literally, you will get 3rd degree burns), so hot that the heat seaps into the locker room walls, grout leaking, pools of water on the floor (probably concrete failure from all the heat).

also who knows if the water cooler filters have ever been replaced.

This is quite a gd rate for True Fitness.

I know of people paying $60/mth for Cali.

TF over Cali anytime for me cos Cali is more crowded than TF and their equipment are not as new and not well maintained.

Btw for TF, if you sign up/renew your packages, they will throw in 1 or 2 free Personal Training sessions.

After the 'free' PT sessions, they will hard sell you (alot) to buy PT packages.

If you know that you dun require or wont sign up for PT, dun take up those 'free' sessions.

If you are interested in PT sessions, I recommend those private or boutique gyms. Their trainers make sure you get results.

Those commercial ones (Cali/TF/FF etc) are more interested in profits though there are some okay ones.

I have personally seen trainers there with belly, seriously how to trust a trainer whose body is out of shape?

I wouldn't start with Hougang as a first branch, unless you stay near there.

It's hard to get to (if you don't drive) and you'd be stuck for one month there before access is triggered elsewhere.

Also note that Hougang is within a CC, so it has no shower facilities.

Nex is super crowded during peak including 8 to 10 pm, if that's what you asking.

Or are you asking if there are eye candies during this time?

Lol. I won't be in the gym to cruise. If it is crowded during those times, AF nex is out of my choices.

I remember I ever walk pass the gym on my way to return my library books at around 10pm and it's still very packed. Since it is Anytime Fitness, you want to workout comfortably would suggest u go after 10.30pm if it's not too late for u.

Pure Fitness

Pure fitness is one of the better fitness center existing locally but it has only one location at the moment.

Workout area

The workout area is huge, with ample free weights and machines.  There are 2 bench presses and 2 inclined bench presses which make waiting time minimal as many do use these equipment for chest training.  There are 3 body building platform for those into serious body building workouts.  There is a short track for legs training as well as 2 huge trunk tyre for your unconventional workout.

Cardio area

The cardio area is located towards the end of the gym, with ample cardio training machines.  Pretty decent view facing the Marina Bay Suites apartment.

Stretch and abs training area

There is a dedicated stretch and abs training area which does not obstruct any movement of gym users using the other areas of the fitness center.

Personally, it is a great fitness center to work out in as there are ample machines and equipment for usage and the wait can be minimal.  The clientele can be a little intimidating as many are serious gym users as seen in their bods, mainly comprised of equal mix of locals and foreigners.

I don’t find it cruisy at all, hmmmm, maybe just that the people there are not into me.  The steam and sauna areas are under-utilized, as many a times, they are empty.

Hope you guys have a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle.

Any members of true fitness in AMK? Thinking of joining since Cali went bust.

I'm more particular about crowds than equipment as I am not into hardcore training.

how much cheaper if I only need to access 1 branch?

AMK TF is quite small though new. so unless you go there at godly hours, it is gonna be slightly crowded. Would suggest you get a one week pass from any of the brothers here and listen to the sales talk and decide from there.

The equipment is packed pretty close.

I drop by during the weekends - the peak is 10ish to 2ish and then from 5ish to 9 pm

Otherwise, if you drop in early mornings or late afternoons, it's not too bad.

It closes pretty early on weekends though.
