Hemnes Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Since a young age my face has always been unhappy. But.. it's just my face, and people don't seem to understand. I recall my mom telling me "you know when u were a small boy you would glare at everyone?" During secondary school days my Teachers would start rumors or small talk about me, saying I look rebellious or I am uncooperative, and they start to worry about me if I will do badly in studies.. it's rly ridiculous and I was outraged when my teacher pulled me out of class just to talk to me about my face, saying I should learn to smile more, and telling me that other Teachers are complaining about my face like want to punch them like that. I don't think it's actually that bad but.. these comments stopped for a while as people got to know me better. But every time I step into new places or work with new people the problem reoccurs. People keep saying I have angry face, that I not happy with them. And it just gets worse as I got older. Now I'm working during school breaks... and every day I receive complain from supervisors and other staffs saying that I not happy with them or show them face. I'm rly helpless at this point and it's rly tiring to fake a smile. Smiling for more than a minute already makes my face very 酸。 it rly kills me to explain it over and over again and sometimes I just give up and let them think that way. Sometimes when I'm happy and smile it's just momentarily as my face isn't made to smile. Does anyone else share similar experiences? How did you overcome it? Other than plastic surgery of course.. redmeat 1
Kimochi Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Stay happy. Taking pictures say sex and warm up your face muscles during your workout by doing proper stretching. It helps ~

I talk low, and not loud. But when I'm excited or laughing I'd raise my pitch a little. Yea speaking of smiling back.. now I know why I always get that look from people at the bar.. I'd look at someone I think is hot but then I forget that they'd think I'm pissed off or judging them.. hahaha. It's becoming quite an issue without me knowing
GachiMuchi Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I don't know what is a "resting bitch face" but a spec with no degree might help in toning down your look. Sometimes your character or personality comes into play. 相由心生. http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com
CKW Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I agree with Lonely57. Sometimes, it's the tone that influences people's interpretation of your facial expression. I had a female classmate in JC who perpetually had that kind of face. When you talk to her, she will sometimes smile and be very friendly. But the moment she stops talking, her smile just vanishes, and she will look like she's offended at someone. And it doesn't help that she speaks in a very fast and abrupt manner, so it gave me the impression that she hated talking to me, even though she probably didn't. As for me, I have a kind of face that sometimes make people think that I want to challenge them to a fight I have been told that this is because my eyes are very slanted, like those scary Japanese masks. Once I ever got stared at for no reason in the MRT when I was just daydreaming and happened to look in someone's direction. And that was not the only time it happened in public. But when I start to talk to people, they often say, "Wah! Didn't know you're actually so f**king nice and soft-spoken. At first I thought you had an attitude problem!" (sorry, didn't mean to praise myself here but just trying to make a point. ) I have a business client/partner who is also a bit like that. He's in his 70s (so you see it's not just young people who have this problem : ) ), and when he looks at you, it's quite scary, like he wants to scold or kill you. But the moment he starts talking, it's just one joke after another, and a lot of laughter. I guess one way to overcome it is to talk more to people in a friendly, sincere manner, so that people will remember you more for your good attitude and good manners. After a while, they won't let your face affect their opinion of you. 'Cos I knew another girl in JC who had a face that I hated. But one day, she joined my ECA (or I joined hers, I forgot), and we talked. That's when I realise that she's so sweet and shy and gentle. After that time, I really liked her, in a non-romantic sense, and even though she still had that "arrogant" face whenever she walked along the school corridor, I never let that bother me

I probably don't have a "resting bitch" issue but more of a "stern and fierce" look problem. Just like you, smiling is a chore to me. I try to maintain a neutral look as far as I can. If it still doesn't appeal to people then I guess they just hv to deal with it mate69 1

You and your friends' experiences are actually very accurate to what I go through haha. I can hardly maintain a smile and it fades almost instantly after I finish a conversation with someone, making me appear fake or shallow. I actually am sincere in my interactions and oftentimes my face gets in the way like times of making new friends when at the bar, people just think I wanna fight them which is rly hard for me. And yes, I'd maintain or use more sincerity when upholding that smile hahaha. 17 minutes ago, GachiMuchi said: I don't know what is a "resting bitch face" but a spec with no degree might help in toning down your look. Better to look nerdy than to be perceived as angry.
Guest Kiss my ass Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Haven't you guys realised by now? It's not your faces that are the issue, it's the people here. We need to smile at anyone and everyone we meet and talk to, otherwise they will think we are difficult bitches! It's a constant chore to like and be liked in singapore. Just be yourselves and fuck those who cannot accept the fabulous us who don't give a rat's ass to be the phoney person everyone here can't seem to get enough of. Smile only to people you like, not to be accepted or liked. Unless you are working in service industry, learn to please yourselves first.

The perpetual stern and fierce look, especially in office when I am concentrating on work.
