I feel that in this society where so many lonely souls are out there, could this type of relation mean a mutual consolation where we satisfy the physical needs and also provide the companionship - without the stress of LTR? And this means to find someone who fulfills a standard of a friend (playful banter, shared interests) and we learn to take it easy that the other party can have other such friends. I have mixed feelings on my personal experience in LTR. It feels sweet to have a devoted partner in life but the commitment that comes with it stifles me at times.
