Can an old man act cute?

I have seen an elderly guy acted cute among his younger looking friends.  I find it a little loud.  I don't mind people trying to act cute but is there an appropriate way of doing so to match with your age so as not to appear too over the top and weird?

I think so long his friends ok then it's ok, after all it's all about people you're comfortable with.

I don't think there's an "appropriate" way to be cute because you're asking someone to control their mannerisms, and we aren't in a very formal setting where there's a need to control our mannerisms as much...

Speaking loudly, suffers softly. Smiles so wide, cuts unseen inside.

Bitin' the bullet, but never kick the bucket.

For an old man to act cute, the only risk is to appear ridiculous.  And there is cuteness that is asexual, for all ages and genders.

Loud people can be annoying even if they are young and not cute at all.

Loud as in screaming for attention not as in making noises.

Cute should be a natural process, and is not something to be acted upon.  Some people tend to have the cute face even when they are aged, or generally humourous without trying very hard.

In a world of nature,  people can easily spot whether  your cuteness is a deliberate act, or self-deluded behavior, which prevented them from getting near you.

On the other hand,  it can also be an art which can be trained without needing too look too obvious like a weirdo.  Like wearing a makeup,  do it subtle and you can still maintain the beauty of a natural look.  To each its own,  our look, our face structure, our shape and our overall package determine which suit us the best.  If you are an elephant, do not behave like a monkey to be with a monkey.  If you are a monkey, don't act like a fish while mingling with the fishes...etc...etc.

Bottom line, nobody is perfect.  Learn to conceal your weakness/flaws and amplify your strength/beauty.  Acting cute is loud pretention,  conceal your flaw is a silent art of nature and will be well appreciated by people who are different from you.

There are lots of fake princess with self-deluded grandeur, some are really fat ugly bitch, who failed in all her make-up regime and still think they are cute and kept rolling their eyes at whoever passes by.   You need to go out and see more of this world to realise such people are everywhere.

Not sure at what age then you all consider as OLD MAN.

I have this colleague who is 38 this year and he likes to take selfies in "cute" poses and post on his facebook.

TBH, he is not cute at all but he goes to the gym and sucks in his tummy so when he poses for those topless selfies, he will garner quite a few likes hahaha

Tbh, you can do whatever you want without trying to get someone's approval. The minute you do something to attract approval or try to get praise, you won't feel too happy with it. You'll end up feeling pressured when you don't get what you want out of it. Just don't harm anyone in the process and continue being yourself. Why do we have to ask if it's ok for someone to be like this or like that? If a man who is effeminate wants to wear a dress, let them. What they do have no impact on your life unless you allow them to impact you. If a woman wearing pants and suit doesn't draw a reaction from you, neither does a man (old or young) in a dress.

They can act however they want. As long as it does not physically harm me or anyone, I couldn't care less.

How I FEEL about them is a different thing and shouldn't affect whether they want to act cute or not either. I have a friend who is in his late 40s and has very babyface kind of look so even when he is angry he looks like a small boy pouting and I always find it difficult to take him seriously. While I know what you mean, some are overly 撒嬌 (sai nai), but if it irritates me, just roll eye and look away lor.

Though i have been told that i give puppy eyes look which i don't understand what it means. Maybe it irritates others too.

Perfect answer @Steve5380

If being cute means posting selfies, wearing costumes, I am already past that. I’ll be prim and proper in a social setting even with family or friends. I consider myself royalty hahaha

Plus an exhibitionist like me will not be called cute.

I'm really turned-on if both heads (the head above and the head below) are both functioning well

Being young you are more entitled to be cute than me, an older man.  But it seems that we both may have chosen to admire the cute instead of being one,  a wise position that also benefits the cute,  who like to be admired by the handsome.  :)

You should consult a gastroenterologist ASAP.   It is not normal to puke such a horrible green stuff.

And then consult a psychologist, to find out why my posts make you green with envy...

When you say act cute, it reminded me of this elderly cosplayer in Japan:

The caucasian guy looks like Jonathan Van Ness.

These folks are likely hamming it up for the cameras only, pretty sure they don't behave the same way out of costume. Nothing wrong with a little fantasy while living it up cosplaying as a character while appearing off the cut from the mould. Takes courage.

Regardless of age.  If you are not cute, don't try to act like one.  It is a well known general rule of thumb.

My neighbour, an old aunty.  Always go to market with heavily painted make up, and than acted like little girl.  When she was alone, she kept looking around, to see anyone pay attention to her "cute-ness".   Today, I saw her again, crossing traffic light with with her tights and looking left-right, left right,  no for traffic but to see whether she catch attention from passer by.   She was weird the entire time.

Thank you :)   But fortunately, I have more hair on my head and I don't keep it white.  So... it must be someone else.

The sailor suit cosplay "old man" is in fact not so old. His name is Hideaki Kobayashi whose nickname is "Sailor Suit Old Man" and he has become famous in Japan. He is only 58 years old. About 20 years younger than @Steve5380. Also as @Steve5380 has informed us in a post on May 1, 2020, he has hair transplants "and the cost each time was US$ 10,000." Great for those who are bald and can afford it.

I kept hearing the neighbour 75yo auntie "heeing" here and there for no apparent reason.  She tried desperately to look "happy" for everyone to see and even laugh at something that is not even a joke.  She stares at a piece of rotten bread and start "heeing",  some stranger knocked on her door to send grab food and she "heeing" at the sight of food.  Her husband sustained leg injury and she watched while "heeing".   When greeted at the market and before a conversation started, she "heeing" again.  What is wrong with her?  Feigning happy or kena demonised?   I know she thought she looks cute, but I find her disgusting and a nuisance to a supposedly quiet ambience.

She could be going through some form of mental illness. Until properly diagnosed, treat her with kindness and compassion. You do not know her story. What you know is just from what you see/observe.

I think in many Asian societies in particular, there is a need to conform to the majority. At a certain age, you are expected to dress and behave a certain way. So if the trend is for men above 50 to be out of shape with a belly, dressed in loose polo tees, elastic waistband shorts, and slippers, you showing up in a fitted polo tee, slim fit shorts, and sneakers with a nice haircut, and in a trim body may create problems as you are not fitting in with the crowd. You are technically an "uncle" but you don't dress or look like one, and that is a MAJOR problem with society's expectations of conforming to the norm.

So it is not even about acting "cute" per se. It is about being yourself, and fuck what the rest of the world thinks.

Love.

You dont know what mental torture she may be going through in her life.

And that is her coping mechanism .

Remove that coping mechanism by force or social pressure and she may implode or self harm or harm others.

Just live and let live lar

Coping mechanism?  Her "heeing" is often done openly as a statement of sort, right in your faces.   If she is not happy with you, her chin will face towards the sky and her head tilted at 45 degree, just so that you understood she is much superior.   Nothing seems a secret what she wanted you to think of her, both wicked and still cute, nothing short of wanting to be adored and admired dearly and publicly.

I totally agree :-)fuck what the world expects and do what u like. I might dress a little younger, am lucky that I still have a baby fa at 49 but i wont conform to wearing drap clothes, I still would wear the more fitting apparel as i work so hard in the gym, so if I still have it, my motto is flaunt it. I dont act cute, not in my dna but I do agree gratitude is missing from a lot of people's lives. We are getting too critical and why should it bother us! 🙂

Hair on his head because of at least two very expensive hair transplants and not being white because he uses so much hair dye. As he himself told us, with some pride!

Hair transplants are not SO very expensive.   A hair transplant probably is less expensive than your world travel to hear some live music,  music that I can hear perfectly well from the comfort of my home.  And at my leisure,  not the leisure of an orchestra and director somewhere.

Travel is and always has been one of the delights of my life. As I have stated before I have travelled to many, many countries and marvelled at many of the wonders of our world. I could never imagine sitting at home in one room watching videos of visiting Florence, Venice, Paris, Neuschwanstein, Nikko, Bhutan, Pokhara, Iran, the ancient city of Petra, the Sistine Chapel, the Iguazu Falls, Machu Picchu, the Torres del Paine National Park, Alaska's Glacier Bay and so many others. Equally I could not imagine watching on video screens the wonders of the world's great art galleries - the Uffizi with its two glorious restored Botticelli paintings, the Prado, the French Church in Rome with its three Caravaggio masterpieces . . . Enjoy your videos. I'll continue to enjoy the wonder of actually being in so many different places and cultures.

I have also travelled a lot, and enjoyed much of it.  But most of it was for a purpose,  not simply sightseeing.  I traveled the most during my working years in a worldwide industry.  Not only did I live in many locations, but I visited places for seminars, meetings, schools, technical assistance. My employer offered me and my colleagues multiple "geology trips",  where we visited in groups much of nature in states like Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, to study their geology, guided by an expert geologist.  This was very interesting, not underground but at the surface, observing geological faults, rocks, minerals, fossils.  Now after retirement I have done some tourism, also with some purposes like enjoyable sex in a variety of places, and some visits to family.

With all the travel I have done,  I realize that there is a common element of it.  And it is not necessary to go everywhere!  The experience can be repetitive.  Foreign land is foreign nearly everywhere. Other people, other landscapes, other tourist traps,  but repetitive.  I like the idea that we create the Our World through our eyes. Visible light reflects in the objects of the world and this reflected light forms images, upside down, on our retinas.  Any more reality comes from touching, smelling, feeling!   The same images form on our retinas if they come from being in person sightseeing, or from reading a National Geographic, or from watching a good quality video.  What is important is what comes AFTER our retinas,  in our brain that provides our spirit with the visual experience!

We live in a world of over SEVEN BILLION PEOPLE.   It is an abomination of society that some thousands are owners of vast extensions of land, much of it undeveloped and unused (by us humans),  while BILLIONS live compressed in huge cities with scarce space and piled up like ants in their nests.  (I wont include Singapore in this thought, ha ha).  This is an ABOMINATION.

Similarly,  there are no SEVEN BILLION PEOPLE who are globe trotters, flying around five or the seven continents in pursuit to see everything there is to see in this world in global tours of enjoyment.  Imagine the global warming this would cause !!!!  This is an exclusivity of the millions of people blessed with a sufficient high standard of living.  This is another ABOMINATION of unequal distribution of resources in society.

So my position now is that while today some moderate travel for tourism is acceptable,  crossing the globe across long distances should have a practical purpose.  A need to be physically at the destination.   Like the case of the diplomats who are traveling to Russia and the Ukraine to negotiate.  Or patients who travel long distances for specialized medical treatments.  Or people who travel to visit family or other beloved ones.  Or people who travel to explore intimacy with groups in other countries.

SIGHTSEEING in the future should be taken care by "virtual reality".  This is infinitely cheaper and environmentally sensible.  So much hydrocarbon is being burned high up in the atmosphere to move the fat asses of so many ordinary folks enchanted with "sightseeing" and admiring the Wonders of the World.

So says an old man who spends his life living virtually in one room. Tell that to young Asians full of life whose desire is to see and EXPERIENCE other countries, their cultures, their sights, their museums with their great art, their cuisine and so many other reasons. Tell that to the young Japanese who have for decades flocked to Hawaii. Tell that to the tens of millions of middle income Chinese with their rising incomes and whose desire, once the covid restrictions are over, is to travel en masse to Europe, the US, South America, who get married outside the Sydney Opera House . . . and so on.

You can continue with your VIRTUAL travel. The rest of the world will get out there and enjoy the REAL world. I already have trips to Tokyo, Taipei and central Vietnam lined up. Hopefully once I return from Europe later next month, regional travel may soon become a little easier.

You forgot totally how much energy Data centers and cloud require and what their impact on global warming is.

It is easy to point to "virtual" by forgetting the impact of electricity and how electricity is produced.

Electricity must be produced somewhere.

That is one thing about electric cars...

Nothing is as lean as you think.

Hopefully, you don't sleep in front of your pc on standby mode now....
