Guest Sam63
I am a 63-year-old single, a sapiosexual, very active and very young at heart. I am a certified yoga teacher and a holistic health practitioner and I’m very much into spiritual pursuits. I also love anything to do with nature. I’ve had a very active kind of gypsy-like past, and I want to find a tribe that connects with my vibe. I am looking for a place where I can be among nature but also have a little town where I can walk to a small coffee shop or bistro and in the evening to a bar to listen to music. Where is the best place to retire either in Singapore or somewhere else?

Where is the best place to retire either in Singapore or somewhere else? Your key requirements are highlighted for you. There are plenty of such places in Asia. To live among natural nature environment, you can opt for Thailand or Bali and so many islands in indonesia to offer you the choices. Those are places with deep historical cultural vibes and tribes the like of you. You cannot find much nature in Singapore, unless you wouldn't mind "man made" nature. As for your spiritual pursuits, it sounds like a broad brush. Where are you leaning? It can be as simple as religious minded meditation to being all things organic intake and everything in between, but also mean you wouldn't want to be completely out of touch with some buzz and city noise. In Singapore, you need to find places along the border or coastline of this island (near the seaside), be it north, south, east or west. These are places not blocked by high rise buildings for you to enjoy vastness of spaces.. Surrounding by too many walls and buildings, make one look like staying in a prison. Guest Not welcomed
I think Singaporean lives so long in a bubble until they become dumb. You can only retire in Singapore. Singaporean so anti foreigner, steal job bla bla. Never once considered the immigrant process. You're 63 yo. You can only retire here. You think you happy happu to Malaysia and retire there. Sorry lo Malaysia government only isse you visitor pass. You go indonesia, Vietnam etc you also social visit pass. Tourist. That's not retire. That's call go holiday. I don't know why Singaporean thinks they are so entitled to work here to earn money then go somewhere else cheap to retire. Just like how Singaporean are so anti foreigner coming here to work, you honestly think other country will welcome you to their country to enjoy the benefit without you contributing anything at all to their country. I'm amazed that people so old don't know the concept of retirement and someone 20s already thought about this. You want to retire in another country you need to move to the other country young, when you're still able and economically viable then apply the citizenship... Not wait until you retirement age then wonder which country will take you in. The level of entitlement and the bubble Singaporean live in. I know of Malaysian who want to leave Malaysia cause can't stand the politics, gahmen, infrastructure, low pay and etc. You can go there and we take in a top scholar young talent from Malaysia to replace you. Exchange program. Give away the old, take in a new. Since Singapore want people who work. And Malaysia just want people to spend money. Or go retire in USA lo. If you don't get bashed for anti Asian hate crime, you can retire happily. Singapore is a good place to retire. You already buy House. Got cpf. Retirenent plan. Good infrastructure. Cheap. Can reach hospital easily. Fast Internet. Not sure why you want to go to third world country.

Steve5380
I have a natural place to retire, and I have all the possibilities to do it if I so decide. This is my native city Buenos Aires. It offers a strong attraction to a retired person who receives a pension in a strong currency like dollar or euro. This is just one advantage, and the following video comments on other reasons. This video seems to have been prepared by a travel agency, so it is not all as rosy as it paints it to be. But even if it is only half as rosy, it is a good retirement place. Not only to the capital city itself, but to the whole country. Retiring there would be easy for me, since I have an Argentinian citizenship and I know the city where I was born relatively well. But there are other factors. My son and family are all American, and I like to live not too far from them. I am very happy in Houston, and I would give up some quality of life moving to Bs. As. But the world is now in a difficult situation. Will there be a World War III? If it comes to an all-out war, Houston would be a good target for a nice fat Russian hydrogen bomb to fall here, so I could easily become dust again (from dust we come, to dust we return, ha ha). But there is little reason to bomb Argentina. There, I would still enjoy delicious barbecue with red wine, while the US and Russia go up in flames. Time will tell, just in case I will be renewing my Argentinian passport, although I can get in there very well with my American one. Another attraction of Argentina is that it is a vast country with all varieties of climates, so if Global Warming becomes unbearable, there are still places in Argentine that would not be affected. I have some family living up on the side of the Andes mountains in the region of Patagonia, and sea levels would never reach there nor temperatures would ever be extremely hot. Will see... time will tell...
Guest Don’t Confuse
I think it’s very difficult for anyone to decide where they might like to retire unless they are relatively close to retirement age - like 5 years before. Everything in our lives is changing so fast these days that what seems a nice idea today might be less appealing 5 years later. Of the countries already mentioned, I’d certainly opt for New Zealand. It’s a beautiful country with a variety of temperatures from north to south (I was lucky to visit once). An abundance of outdoor activities. There are quite a few Asians and other ethnic groups living in the country and so there would be lots of different peoples to get to know and cuisines on offer. Plus it has some fabulous wines! Same is true about the big impending scourge of global warming. Living on higher ground sounds the best solution for those affected, but what’s the point of that if power plants and other essentials are located at sea level? Will the world have to get used to basic living? If present trends continue, it seems clear that a lot of coastal areas where hundreds of millions live will become increasingly like much of Jakarta - under water for months and increasingly uninhabitable. Steve, I thought you gave up wine drinking LOL

Steve, I thought you gave up wine drinking LOL Perhaps the biggest attention should be paid to reaching retirement being financially independent. To be old and poor is not nice. But old and frugal is perfect! What can also be nice is finding a piece of fertile land sufficiently elevated, install solar panels for energy, and enjoy cultivating vegetables and raising chickens for food. A source of crystalline water should also be available. A good antenna should be able to receive high speed internet, and this can open the rest of the world, or what remains of it, to intellectual and spiritual enjoyment. Hopefully soon we can enjoy "virtual reality". You are right. I gave up wine drinking except on few occasions. I can replace this with water and other clear liquids like tea and coffee. Do not retire in any city. Agreed, Before the pandemic, I went to live in Hatyai for a few months. 1. It's near the border for easy visa run to Malaysia 2. It's dirt cheap food and rents 3. There's also another Malaysian old man retired there and he's showing me how. He's rich but unfortunately I'm almost broke from poor investments. He live in an expensive big condo in town but I rented a cheap house outside the town. He has a big luxury car, I only have a motor bike. He has a handsome bf and another man servant. He tried looking for bf for me. But the young ones see me no up. For the 1st month, I dated 10 men, But they only wanted sex, I got fucked almost everyday. They like my Chinese white and smooth complexion but they also want money. I realised that my friend was actually pimping me out like a prostitute to his gay friends. I met him in Penang through cruising in shipping mall toilet and got wowed when he brought me to his 4star hotel. He fucked me because he thought I was young. When I told him my true age, he was wowed. Apparently he told his friend about me and they were interested to invite me over. After one month of prostituting, I got tried of it. I met a nice looking 40+yo farmer who's relatively middle class with a nice big house and wife and kids. He lived less than a km from me. He was so nice to me in bed, I liked him because he's the few Thais who's speak good English. So it's not bang bang bang goodbye. Typically, he also tell me his wife fat and ugly, menopause don't like sex ... He literally lived with me on weekdays and only returned home on weekends. The awkward thing was that his wife send food for us everyday because I don't know how to cook. She actually liked me and silently acknowledged me as his mistress. But I drew the line when she wanted me to meet the kids. They'll actually call me grandfather!! And they like me because of my kindly looks. Those other friends still won't leave me alone. Somehow, nice old man like me becoming someone's mistress was kinky and exotic. But I told them I'm already his. Still weekends night so boring, I'll join their parties if invited. I'll try to leave before they got to wild sex part. However, sometimes they'll ply me full of alcohol and I'll end up in some stranger's bed in the morning. I'm not complaining because at my age, I was the oldest of them all so I've been around the block. However when the pandemic struck, there's so much confusion at the border. I got detained at the border for missing some vaccination documents and my friend helped to get me out. The worse part was they checked my luggage and found undeclared items and Thai gay porn magazine( I forgot i bought it for the gay guide inside). The shocking truth is that for all the sex trade in Thailand, porn is still big illegal!! I was brought to a special room for special search. I immediately knew to special cooperate when I saw the bulge in his trousers. Of course there's no condom around and I had to take 3 gay staff raw. They won't let me out to take shower because it's inconvenient. By the time my friend came, I was a smelly mess. But because of my special cooperation, he got me out quickly. I became the butt of their kinky jokes. But the covid struck some of them because of our close sex. I was literally deported when they traced us all. Moral of the story is that you never know what can happen the next day. It was a wild and unexpected ride from a mall toilet, to being someone's mistress then for 2 years banned from Thailand. Hollywood movie plot also not so drama.

Kenichi
Bali is quite an amazingly diverse place. It has beaches, mountains, and art and culture (Ubud). My impression of Bali before I went there for holiday is sun, sea and surf. So was pleasantly surprised to find cool mountainous areas that offer a respite from the heat and sun. But I probably won't retire there if I have a chance to move overseas. Somehow, I didn't quite take a liking to the food. Or maybe I haven't explored enough of the culinary scene.. You sound like you have in your genes the inclination to irritate Porteños (natives of Buenos Aires), ha ha. I was never bothered by wet and foggy winters in Bs. As. There are these in Houston too and in many parts of the world. What I didn't like as a child were the hot summers we had to endure without air conditioning. I'm sure you also have or had some of this in Singapore. Buenos Aires and Montevideo (the capital of Uruguay) have very similar climates. If you want details, look here: https://versus.com/en/buenos-aires-vs-montevideo Quality of life is also similar, although this is more subjective. I find Buenos Aires much more interesting, vibrant with activity, while Montevideo is more boring. You can choose Uruguay and I choose Argentina.
