ive only seen one shaved on my last visit there. the norm is unshaved or trimmed. the shaved one is the odd one out.

Talked to a friend that I met from Joya and he told me about a creep that asked him to lay flat on the sauna bench. He then offered to massage him and ‘accidental’ brushed his dick during the ‘massage’. I’ve experienced the same thing too.

Perhaps offered wasn’t the right way to put it. He would said things like, ‘Your thigh looks tense’, and just proceeded with the massage. In both of our experiences, he definitely didn’t ask if we want the massage.

Credit must be given where it is due. During a recent visit to Joya, the efforts made by the management to enhance the ambience in the onsen were particularly notable.  The introduction of new brown towels featuring the corporate name and logo was a welcome change. The refreshed dark grey wall colour and wall mounted Joya signage added an updated look to the onsen environment. I also thought the water in the hot pool appeared clearer, although it seemed not as hot as before.

 

These efforts to improve the place deserve mention.  Further improvements that management could consider and look into include:

·       Upgrading the wooden seating in the sauna. Despite recent replacements, some of the wooden strips appear loose or dislodged.  The sauna is the centrepiece of Joya onsen, since there is no steam room, hence its interior deserves to be upgraded.

·       Dimming the lights in the sauna, which are currently too bright. Guests do not require such level of lighting while relaxing.

·       Ensuring a sufficient supply of disposable cups for the water dispenser within the onsen, or preferably replacing it with a standing drinking water fountain for guests' convenience.  This will save the need to supply the disposal cups
