What I take from his message is that being gay is just a part of you .

Not that everything in life has to be done in the spirit of gayness.

Nobody ever says being gay is everything in life. Guess conversion therapies and trueloveis only caters to certain gays extremely commited to and consumed by the "gay lifestyle" feverishly like an actual religion (more like cult), like as if their lives depended on it as a crutch; someone who needs balance in their life and Christianity offered that. I guess they could have other hobbies but gay sex has become an addiction to them. Like porn addiction. Could it be daddy or mommy issues?

Balance is key.

Christian organisations like trueloveis view gay homosexuality as a sex addiction, and present their view as the ONE AND ONLY viable view of homosexuality WHICH IS EXTREMELY MYOPIC.

Guess HCI is getting more and more anglicised to be taking part in such silly gender politics.

Agree wif you.

However, if you look at the Pride parades, the gay brands, clubs, saunas, activism etc. Some do get the impression being gay is EVERYTHING, CORE IDENTITY, everything in life revolves around it. Complete immersion.

That is the "pride" facet of homosexuality. It's a show of that pride. Like drag queens looking like female dressing on steroids. It's just a performance. Drag Queens do have a life and do not wear wigs and makeup 24/7. Same for gay people. Gays who dress up for pride don't dress like that on normal days.

People see what they want to see. If they see something metaphorical and run with it literally, THEY ARE THE SILLY ONES.

Many silly people indeed.

Like those who want churches to recognise same sex unions.

Or the couple who wanted the homophobic baker to do their wedding cake.

Just like those straights who think gays must live like straights.

Just live your own life QUIETLY and don't IMPOSE on others.

By their logic, they can also argue that man who already has sex with another man also is not necessary an indication of being gay.

So he's another Miss Tan or Karen.

If being a male model means one is manly, then taking part in Manhunt means one is tarzan.

The "stats" supposedly originated from here https://mobile.twitter.com/nat_sock/status/1533231556059287552

Some redditor claimed "nat_sock" means national socialist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialist_Movement_(United_States)

So the school counsellor just re-used info from a dubious foreign online account?!

Time to use FICA?

I am surprised that a non-religious institution like HCI allowed for a presentation that is so loaded with religious baggage! Whoever opened the door for this person to talk to the kids is either blinded by his/her own religious beliefs, or hasn't processed the contents for the presentation.

HCI is an independent school, and so it does have a lot more autonomy compared with the average secondary school. I hope that the school's board will also get questioned about this, and the person responsible is taken to task.

If only more people truly walk the talk of inclusivity: that just as they want their own views and ways to be accepted, they must also acknowledge and accept that others have their own views and ways. And agree to disagree.

But that is difficult and requires some degree of empathy and humility. And a willingness to view those opposed to their worldview with compassion and grace. Who is equipped to do this though?

Note that none of those statements are backed up by references/sources?

If you go by Kinsey's research (which is very dated):

  • 37% of males and 13% of females had at least some overt homosexual experience to orgasm;
  • 10% of males were more or less exclusively homosexual and 8% of males were exclusively homosexual for at least three years between the ages of 16 and 55. For females, Kinsey reported a range of 2-6% for more or less exclusively homosexual experience/response.
  • 4% of males and 1-3% of females had been exclusively homosexual after the onset of adolescence up to the time of the interview.

I log into MOE website and left them a feedback asking them to please look into this assembly talk. It’s up to us to make the authorities be accountable, whether they like it or not.

Thanks! 👍 🙏 Not sure if Mothership is aware of this .... their readership is quite "wide" ... 🙄

Yes just look at BW. Lots of people can't discuss an issue calmly, without descending into shrilly bitchy hysterics.

It is a case of MY OPINION MUST WIN AND OVERRIDE OTHERS.

Much less agree to disagree?

imagine the amount of students who start to discriminate their peers n bully them because of misinformation and discrimination like these. it is a form of discrimination that should not be tolerated. the emotional damage has been dealt to the teens struggling with their sexuality, the guilt they feel. the disgust that others look upon them which makes them feel withdrawn. definitely have to stop this stigmatism. sexuality do not mean lifestyle.

I am sure MOE will be backing them by staying connivingly silent.

i hope these posts clarify why its important to speak up on such matters. For those who say keep silent and it will blow over, it wouldnt. Now that this matter is being talked about and circulated, schools will think twice about repeating it. It is very important for us in the community not to have internalised homophobia within ourselves. Growing up, most of us unconsciously adopt it by accepting mainstream ideals of who we are and the associating shame and stigma keeps us silent and in the shadows. If we dont contribute anything towards the community, but yet continue to enjoy the progress that comes with others putting out their necks for us, then the least we can do is to stop spreading this internalised homophobia by asking others not to be out there fighting the good fight.
