1. Psychologically uncomfortable with other male energy (this applies to straight conservative and homophobic guys)
2. Psychologically trying to hide something (whatever that is) pertaining to their male identity. The cubicle wall provides "protection/safety/privacy".
3. Don't want to deal with the prying eyes of other guys (whether looking at them or their penis)

Applying this theory to my younger self, I've always used the cubicle to pee because I had issues with my identity. I was closeted with self-hate as I couldn't accept my homosexuality. I felt very exposed peeing at the urinal. The presence of other guys at the urinal also reminded me of my issues. Also I wasn't aware of what was cruising, gaydar etc.

 

Now that I'm out of that dark tunnel and sometimes cruise in toilets, I am 100% pro-urinal and will deliberately always take the urinal right next to the guy I'm trying to cruise. Haha.
