Being shirtless is actually 'illegal' locally 😯

Recently saw this video that mentioned one could be charged even if you are just shirtless (of course, we all knew nudity is not allowed in public places), didn't know about this until now, since we often see topless men jogging in the park (or at ECP, etc.).

 

It was also mentioned (here), under section 27A of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act (MOPONA), this is new to me, haha.

I think when public 'complained', then they would act on it, if not there is not enough place in the prison cells (too many 'arrests')? Haha.

Singaporeans are really hung up over what is considered ‘decency’ aren’t they? To a highly salacious degree - and the more taboos they create the more sexually tempting the prospect of exposure becomes. A look at this forum will tell you how many guys find some form of public exposure sexy, particularly if it is perceived as unintentional.
 

I think the laws exist to cover all possible scenarios, because you never know what individuals are capable of; there are laws against jaywalking, PMD-riding on pavements, and swearing in public, but lots of people do it anyway with no consequences. As long as you don’t cause major accidents with your jaywalking or swearing (or topless running for that matter - hot tip: the guys most likely to cause accidents while running tooless seem to mostly do so on the entirely pedestrianised Marina Bay park loop, far from fast-moving vehicular traffic but within view of as many strollers as possible) I don’t think the law will come for you. 
 

As for nudity, like being openly gay, I’m sure attitudes have changed a fair bit. Once the old aunties (and it is always the old aunties with their puckered-up sour-kana face) who are obsessed with ‘public decency’ die out eventually I doubt our current youngsters will grow up with such hang-ups. At most it will be viewed as something to mock. Who knows, maybe by 2040 being in the altogether on Tanjong or Siloso Beach might be par for the course. For now, we have the eastern end of ECP. You young’uns, with your firm, slick, porpoise-like bodies, come join us and improve the scenery, okay? make the regulars there happy. 🙂

I won't say illegal but police will react if they are complaints and make sense. Remember Abercrombie models topless pic along orchard road many years ago ??

I think the police will be forced to act - albeit reluctantly - if they receive complaints from the public. 

How many complaints are need before the police would take action would be a good question.

Public nuisance covers a wide variety of situations so not to worry so much about being topless. Is more about what are you doing while being topless. Obviously topless bodies get attention but if you have a right reason to be topless then nobody will find you to be a nuisance.

In Singapore, there are cases where it's unclear or what I called grey zone scenario. Do all you want, just got invite complains. Must be sensitive to your surrounding and be alert of who are around you. If you choose to parade like a peaCOCK, oblivious to the situation around you, you are inviting trouble and inconvenience, not to yourself but also others to share the same passion.

Depends on locations. Topless in beach , pools are ok. I saw topless old man in heartland. Also no one complain. So depends on yr luck .. as long no one say u cause public nuisance

Maybe also depends if the guy who is topless, does he has a nice body. I think no one would complain if it is a fit and toned guy goes topless in public.

Depends where you are.  It's fine running topless in the park and on pavement.  It become "prohibited" once you stepped inside supermarket, malls or trains.  In fact, you are also not allowed to train topless inside a gym.
