The eight individuals being removed may make their case — or “representations” — to the COC by May 13.

If the COC succeeds in removing

them, they could be barred from resuming their executive memberships

in the church for two years or more.

The public may also submit representations for governing board members Kong, Lam and Tan Ye Peng,

as well as key oicer Teo, Executive

Director of the church’s administration division.

This is because if the COC succeeds in removing them, they will be

barred from taking up similar positions in any charity here in future.

Those who wish to make representations are to do so by post or email to

the Commissioner by May 13 and sign

of with their full name, identity card

number and contact details.

Kong noted that the deadline was

“a mere two days” before the criminal

trial began, and would seek clariication from the COC on it.

COC Low Puk Yeong reiterated

that “there is due process in the removal proceedings”.

He said: “A removal order may

only be made with the consent of the

Attorney-General. In the event of a removal and if the individuals are dissatisied with the COC’s decision, they

can appeal to the High Court.”

Mr Low also stressed that his actions are “independent and separate”

from criminal proceedings.

Removed individuals may continue religious duties, such as preaching

in the church, “which are separate

from the holding of any governance

or management positions in the charity”, he added.

City Harvest Church said in a

statement last night that pastors Kong

and Tan would continue their pastoral duties.

Executive pastor and management board chairman Aries Zulkarnain called it a “very challenging”

time for the church leaders, members

and their families, and asked for the

church to stay united.

Last July, four new board members

were voted in during City Harvest’s

annual general meeting.

The criminal trial of the six City

Harvest Church executive members

starts on May 15.

The COC and the Commercial Affairs Department began investigating

City Harvest Church in 2010.

The COC’s inquiry found inancial

irregularities in the church amounting to at least S$23 million. The money

was meant to go to the building fund

but was allegedly used to fund Ms Ho’s

secular music career.

The inquiry also found a “concerted efort to conceal the movement of

funds from its stakeholders”.

I strongly believe that if you believe in god why do you need to go to a religious place...

Can't someone pray and trust from deep within?

I agree too even though I am with a mainstream religion.  God is in you and if you believe, you talk to God inside you.  Do no harm to others.  Do good if you can.  Live in peace and make the world a better place.  In essence, that is what God wants of us.  The rest are centuries old customs, traditions, supersittions, man-made rules etc.  Religion can be very complicated if one goes in-depth.  The simplistic way is "I Believe"

The bible Oso toks abt edifying each other encouraging each other thr fellowship n worship together as a congregation

Even in the Old Testament the believers congregate together to pray worship sing songs make music to build one another up in the body of Christ

Other than that in your own personal time u can still worship n pray to him alone as he is omnipresent .. Hope that answers your query.

Initially when sun ho started as a mandarin singer some of her songs were touching but later on I find her songs very secular n started to question abt her direction no doubt mayb she wanted to reach the non believers... Hopefully she n those involved will start to rebuild their lives after this saga n really serve god with a pure unadulterated heart lo. Amen

no one seems to understand this.. it's a personal connection with God. Not something you have to justify by going to church/temple. It's something that comes from within and from your heart. If you wanna go then well go. But if not don't look down on others for not wanting to go... But then again there's no point saying all this because "truly" religious people will just say "ok yeah i accept your view.." but in their hearts they will be like "i pray that he will change..." I just think this is way too hypocritical.

if that is true, you need not give it to the church, but you can give it to other christian welfare organisations or even welfare organisations in general.

and obviously him and his staff, who draws a fat pay check from the church, ask people to buy Sun Ho CDs, sit in a comfy mercedes by the church, is not that christian.

His praises are empty. If we give zero to the church, its ultimately zero. He takes from the church, its a negative. He burns in hell

I find this quite shallow. It fine if people want to donate to the church, but ultimately its what we do that counts.

I can be christian, donate generously to the church but be a miser (or bully) outside. - This is just an example so don't bash me.

Ultimately if anything at all, it is the faith which should propel you to do the most good you can (within your means), it's not about the money.

Has anyone heard of the following terms:

Blind faith

False prophets

Well the original idea for Ms Sun Ho to reach the non-believer was novel.

Initially, there was some form of creditability as she and her loving husband were in the press for GOOD news.

I remember a particular episode of Taiwan's 小燕有约, they were interviewed and projected very wholesome image.

However, once she started to dress (undress!) and dance provocatively, she lost her focus.

Although the book says that "Be among sinners", I think Ms Sun Ho had unwittingly become one.

How can a prim and proper Christian leader show her cleavage in public?

How can a RESPECTED Christian leader dress herself in such skimpy attire?

Worst, her music career is now going nowhere.

She is no longer young.. and no one, except a few, buys music anymore.

CD sales, including official legal digital downloads is almost non-existent in this part of the world.

Which is the right way for Ms Sun Ho?

164 CHC staff members demand to see COC’s Inquiry Report

Ho Yeow Sun aka Sun Ho, Kong Hee's wife

164 staff members of City Harvest Church (CHC) have demanded to see the Commissioner of Charities’ (COC) Inquiry Report, which has found financial mismanagement in CHC.

In an earlier statement on 9 Apr, COC invited representations from the public on its proposal to remove the 4 key office holders from CHC:

  • Kong Hee (as governing board member)
  • Lam Leng Hung (as governing board member and trustee);
  • Tan Ye Peng (as governing board member and trustee); and
  • Kelvin Teo Meng How (as key officer)

It said that for the purpose of making representations to remove the above individuals, should any person with specific information that can affect its earlier findings, wish to be granted access to the Inquiry Report, he should write in to the COC, providing his full reasons for the request. The COC said it may at its sole discretion, grant such requests if the COC is satisfied that there are good and sufficient reasons for giving that person access to the Inquiry report. Any person granted access must agree to the terms and conditions imposed by the COC for such access.

Now, the CHC staff members are saying they needed the report to defend their leaders, including their Pastor Kong Hee, from being expelled by the COC.

In a letter to COC on 11 Apr, the 164 staff members said they should be given access to the Inquiry Report as they were privy to “specific information that can affect the findings”, such as “how the church has been run and how decisions were made”.

They further added, “Many in our congregation are in complete disagreement with the proposal to have their pastors and leaders removed.”

For the 4, it is understood that once they are removed, they will be banned from holding office in the church or any other charity for life.

COC has proceeded to initiate the process to remove them plus 4 other non-key office holders from CHC after it found gross financial mismanagement inside CHC (‘COC proceeds to remove 8 CHC leaders from office‘). COC found, among other things, that millions of dollars of church funds were allegedly used to finance the music career of Kong’s wife Sun Ho.

Some of the CHC members have also individually written to COC to express their unhappiness.

Ms Esther Teo, a manager in the performance arts industry, said she could not understand why the COC needed to protect the church’s assets when members understood and endorsed the Crossover Project, meant to use Ms Ho’s secular music to reach out to non-Christians.

Ms Teo added, “We spoke with our votes. We contributed willingly and we have seen the fruits of our leaders’ labour.”

Meanwhile, the criminal proceedings for 6 of the CHC leaders, including Kong Hee, will start next month.

Every one is innocent unless proven otherwise.

I am speaking on my personal platform and opinion only.

The issue at hand is the missing millions.

There is a need to explain for this amount - no one is pointing a finger at someone's international music career.

The question is whether there was a slim chance that the amount was misappropriated?

If this amount was accounted for the Crossover Project, then the case is closed!

God gave Sun a dream to be an international superstar. And it's the same vision that God gave Pastor Kong.

"You must realize that it is God's will for you to prosper"

(Copeland, Laws of Prosperity, p. 51)

If Sun and Pastor Kong have enough faith, they will triumph over the lawsuit and win souls for Christ using Sun's secular music. And they will conquer the lawsuit because Pastor Kong and Sun are giants in the faith.
