Question On Tanning & Tanning Lotions (Compiled)

Recommended Posts

There's a Banana Boat line for "Babies' Faces & Tender Places", which isn't too rich.

But if you want to prevent an outbreak, try applying a base layer of pure aloe vera gel, and let it dry first.

Then apply the sun screen over that protective barrier.

Hope that helps!

i tried ocean potion gelless spf4 and it seems to give me clogged pores on my body.

i tried banana boat oil spf8, its tan well but the oiliness takes some soak in pool to wash off haha.

currently im using Badger spf15 sunscreen, supposed to be natural and non-comedogenic. so far so good.

does tanning at the beach or pool give a different tone of bronze?

some ppl said ppl who get tan at sea look different from those who tan at swimming pool?

i know indoor tanning gives a golden bronze tan, not charcoal black as the tanning is controlled.

Rather a lengthy article but worth to read for those who do the occasional sun-tanning

Some quotes from the research :

In a new investigation of 786 name-brand sunscreens, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found widespread evidence that many products on the market are not safe and effective, including one of every eight high-SPF sunscreens that does not protect from UVA radiation. We have also identified 131 products that offer very good sun protection with ingredients that present minimal health risks to users.

Our comprehensive scientific review indicates that 83% of 786 sunscreen products offer inadequate protection from the sun, or contain ingredients with significant safety concerns.

People buy high-SPF sunscreens in advance of beach vacations or long days at the pool, assuming they've purchased products that maximize sun protection. High SPF ("Sun Protection Factor") products do protect you from sunburn, the well-known skin cancer precursor caused by the sun's ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation. But these products don't necessarily block UVA radiation, the more deeply penetrating rays linked to skin aging and wrinkling, immune system suppression, and possibly skin cancer.

I keep reading sun lotions are also risky.  Like Trump said, the cure cannot be worse than the disease

ffs, now you are quoting Trump!

a) EWG is not a credible source

b) check sources for information and stop speculating

c) stop posting replies to posts that are sooooooo old! This is from 2007!

Please for goodness sake stop tanning!

The sun is the source of ageing, why do you want your skin to suffer premature ageing?

I really don't understand this tan to look hot mentality.

Just a little reminder to be sun smart.

Don't forget your feet when applying sunscreen.

I had my skin checked recently and the skin doctor found a Basal Cell Carcinoma on my foot.

He's going to cut it out on Friday.

Lucky for me, he found it early and I will only have about 10 stitches.
