An online Men who have sex with Men (MSM) Sex Survey conducted by Fridae.asia indicated that 13.4% of the respondents in Singapore consumed recreational drugs (e.g. Viagra, ecstasy, poppers, methamphetamines) for sex. Yet, most people have very little understanding on drug use, its effect and the danger of developing drug addiction.

At the same time, overseas studies show that the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals who are struggling to cope with their sexual identities, are at a higher risk of developing addictive behaviours such as drug, alcohol and sex addiction.

In 2012, Oogachaga will collaborate with WE Care Singapore again to educate the LGBTQ community on various addiction issues. Join us on 14 July 2012 as our invited speaker Prem Kumar Shanmugam presents on substance addiction. We will also have someone who will share about his recovering process from substance addiction.

If you are concerned about your substance use, worried about someone or simply want to gain more awareness on this topic, please join us.

H is a very successful middle aged working professional. H was also struggling with something that very few people knew - substance addiction.

Join us this Saturday 14 July from 2 to 5pm and hear his story. H hope that by sharing about his recovering journey, more LGBTQ individuals can understand about this taboo topic. Learn more about substance addiction for yourself and your loved ones.

OC, thanks for the very informative session.

It was very thought-provoking and to H, I salute you for your boldness.

Your experience served as a constant reminder NEVER to get near the drugs, recreational or otherwise.

Only snag, there should be a minimum age limit to the talk.

I noticed a <Banned Words> Angmo boy in our midst and he was having a difficult time to sit through a 3 hour session.

Stick to the original gameplan that the talk was meant for 40s and above.

Another set of suggestions:

Please allocate more time for Q & A as it is always a rush to end the session on time.

Please start the session at 3 pm.. not all of the participants have a 5-day week.
