erection day Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Stories about the broken lives of Orchard rd's ladyboys in New Paper. Often their stories are not happy ones.'Selina's mother cant bear to look at her own child- the womanly face, arched eyebrows, long lashes and lipstick belong to a side of her child that she doesnt want to know. Selina is a transvestite. Although he dresses like a woman and has breast implants, the 1.8m-tall ladyboy has not had a sex change. He has been a prostitute for 14 years and is considered a 'mummy' in Orchard Towers. He commands up to $300 for an hour's services, and sees four clients a night. But not a day goes by when his heart isnt heavy. He is the main breadwinner of his family- his mother and three other siblings. His father, he said, divorced his mum because he said he could not live with a transvestite son. Already an effeminate boy in Pri 3, he was sexually abused by his gay uncle, he said. The turmoil exploded one day when a boy in school called him 'Ah gua'. Selina punched the boy, and ran away from school. The teen ended up in Geylang as a male sex worker, entertaining men. For the next three years, he stayed in a rented hotel room in Geylang for $20 a night and worked in the red-light district. When he moved to Desker Road to work for a few days, he met a sister who took him to Orchard Towers. The money Selina makes goes to the family. At home, Selina does not wear makeup, but still dresses like a woman. With his mum, he is the 'quiet daughter'. He said, 'When I see my mother's face, I am happy.' But there is guilt as well- his parents' marriage was wrecked because his father could not accept what his eldest son had become. 'I really miss him and would talk to him if there was only a chance' said Selina. Selina and her 18-year-old brother dont talk. 'The only thing I tell him is that I didnt chosse to be bron like this.' Yas1950 1
Guest Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 trans are such sad people. I never know of a happy tranny. wonder why.
SunDevil Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Why would they be happy, when no one seems to acknowledge their existence? I don't know about you, but if I'm being treated like an outcast by the society that I'm living in, I will definitely not be happy. Having said that, I believe that they are a bunch of very strong people. Imagine being mocked, abused, etc all their lives and still have the dignity to go on being who they are. It takes lots of guts, don'tcha think? Better the Devil you know than the Angel you don't...
GachiMuchi Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Well, why would a tabloid new paper published a story on happy successful tranny? Don't think it would sell lor. Of course those news you read from papers are sad stories lah.Try visiting http://www.sgbutterfly.org/There are many such people in our diverse societies. http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com

It takes lots of guts, don'tcha think? Sun, I personally dun need anyone to acknowledge me so that I can be happy. No one owes me a living and I dun owe anyone a living too. I acknowledge my own existence because I'm real and I'm here. I will look for my own happiness and do things to make myself happy. I dun need to ask anyone for approval to have sex with men, if I want to do, I just do it. The choices lies in me and I am responsible for my own actions. I remember there was once I went with a group of friends to BKK. After arriving there, I left my baggage in the hotel room and went out as I have my own programs. I did not come back until the next day. My group of friend weren't very happy that I went to enjoy myself and did not join them in their activities. Frankly, their program is so routine every time they are in BKK that I was just not keen to follow them, so I planned my own itinerary and do my own stuff. Anyway, after that trip, I realised that I have grown out of my group of friends as we do not share any common interest any more. What I want to say is, Be yourself. http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com
SunDevil Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Gachi, I can see that you've got a very strong sense of self, and that's a really good thing! In fact, I would encourage everyone of us here to hold our self-esteem on the highest level, regardless of who we are. When I said what I said in my previous post, I was actually referring to the lives of the transvestites. They are definitely different from you and I because we're gay men, going about in our daily lives, clad in our male clothings, without a smidgen of estrogen coming off us. But they are women trapped in men's bodies who feel more comfortable in dresses, makeups etc. Point here is...being who they are, society will almost always look down on them. That's also why a tabloid paper like TNP will never paint a rosy picture of their lives. I remember reading an article from Straits Times a coupla months back about the arduous journey taken by Abigail (the comedian who got famous for being a host for some Channel 8 shows). Even then, it's all about her struggles and more struggles. It's almost like telling us that struggles and miseries are all you're gonna get for walking down this path. To make matters worse, it'll give readers the impression that being a transvestite is a choice!Compared to them, we definitely have it good. No worries about acceptance from all levels of society because we dress according to our 'roles'. And I believe many of us here are not out to our families...so no worries about being disowned by parents. Also, no awkward stares and no derogatory remarks hurled at us from strangers in the streets. So you see...we can be ourselves and still be able to stay under the radar, but for them to be themselves, they have to suffer the scorn of the society. Is it any wonder that a lot of them are actually unhappy deep down inside? And for them to go through all that and still come out unscathed, now, that's an admirable trait, isn't it? Better the Devil you know than the Angel you don't...
Guest anti social Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 GM, think hard about what you did in BKK,ask yourself the group of friends (presumbly straight) want you to join them (presumbly like your company) and you deserted them and went on to do your stuff(presumbly gay stuff).Isn't selffish on your part ( it meant to be throw away statement) If I read you right your story is to tell sundevil to be yourself but you forgoteen to add "be yourself but at the same time don't act antisocial behaviour"Soon you will find yourself having lesser friend(gay or straight friends).OR unless you forwarned your straight friends that you had to do some personal thing while in BKK but you just disappered.Don't take this as an assination of your character it meant to be a tell all discussion. :thumb:
TopChinese Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Good for you, GM. Thanks for sharing.Trashy rags prints tranny trash. What do you expect from the rubbish that is the New Paper? There are plenty of TS here who are well adjusted and living happily. Did you know Singapore is one of the more liberal countries which treats post-operative transsexuals as a person of their desired gender? Back in the 80s and 90s, there was a very good doctor in NUH who used to be a world authority on sex change operations. I have a few male to female transsexual friends who actually married their boyfriends and now living as man and wife here. Transsexuals are becoming the rage even in the gay scene now.The hottest thing in the leather fetish scene are female to male transsexuals who are ultra macho in their appearance but opt not to have a penile implant. Some fetish clubs are having issues with this and even one in Chicago stupidly barred patrons who are FTM. In Paris, I left the cruise bar early and had just missed a performance by very hot Buck Angel (NSFW), seen here. http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5982/20...angelbigic2.jpgNo he does not have a cock. Then there is the shemale scene. Straight men and women who love to get off (and getting f**ked) by chicks with dicks. I've seen some very hot looking ladies in Bangkok with the traditional Thai endowments. Not my scene but they look like they are having fun! OB: TC dont mind if i edited the image to a URL link, we have some surfing in the office or home, so need to help them to be discreet

We have known each other for many years and have been out on many trips aboard, that is why I know their routine. To cut story short, single guys and couple don't do the same things.Call me anti-social, I'm bored with doing things with couples (they have different agenda), so I opt to do my own things.Don't worry, my characters cannot be assassinated off that easily. http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com
erection day Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 In the second installment of the tranny story in TNP. The ladyboys talked about rules that come with the territory.'A ladyboy needs the 'blessing' of a senior 'sister' to work in the district. Most of them stick to their territories. When Selina sees a ladyboy who does not belong on his turf, he springs inito actiion. If he asks the newcomer to leave, he'd better leave, he said. There are an estimated 100 Sporean transvestite prostitutes here. Those from Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines number another 100 in all. Every transvestite is accorded certain rights to enter certain areas which are 'ranked according to market rates'. Those who work in Orchard Towers command the best rates. The 'seniior' sisters are there, charging $250 to $300 for an hour's service. And the longer you work as a ladyboy, the more senior you are. Geylang is ranked second because those working there earn $50 to $80 an hour- and the rate has not gone up in 13 years. Those working at Changi Point are paid $30 to $50 an hour, while those at Desker Road gets $20 to $50. The unspoken understanding is that the minute you become a transsexual, you will earn less. Those who have breast implants and have their penis intact earn more. Nadia, a Sporean who has undergone a full sex-change operation, learnt this the hard way. If a woman is what a man wants, he 'would rather go for real woman' she said'
GachiMuchi Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Remember years ago when they (TNP) did a sensational expose about gays at Ford Road Beach where they says that those who visited there carries a backpack and a bottle of mineral water as "signal"?That was the most hilarious reporting I've read.Anyway, someone did tell me that some oversea PLUs did ask if the reports on carrying mineral water was true.Do you think they are doing it again this time round with this report? Anyone one wants to confirm it? http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com
