How do I remove my non-active recent chats?

Expand

The "Recent Chat" you see on the mobile version of the chat system is actually chat windows you've left open on the PC version. This is a cross-platform issue which I will be surfacing to @Bern. In the meantime, the only way you can remove them is to hop on your PC and close the chat windows.

@Frago The "Hot" threads have been changed to be reflected by the star symbol as in circle number 4. I think they call it "popular" threads now.

@Steve5380 As shown in the picture, clicking on the thread title (2) will link you to the first post in the thread, clicking on the date/time of last post (1) will link you to the last post in the thread, and clicking on the circle/star symbol on the left of the thread (3,4) will link you to the first unread post in the thread.

@fab The same applies to any activity streams as stated above.

Unfortunately, the "go to first unread post" link is no longer available within the thread itself, or at least I have yet to find it. I'm still familiarising myself with the new forum template as well so... yeah.

Expand

I think the star symbol refers to threads that you have made posts in, not threads that are popular.

Sorry if this appears dumb or has already been raised.

Each time I entered a thread using hp, I have to scroll from the first post all the way down just to see the more recent posts of that page. It can be quite tedious if the thread has become very long.

Is it possible to arrange the posts in reverse order with the most recent one on top?

Or can a "Last Post" button be added on top of each page of the thread so that we can go to the last post of that page by just a click? Similar to the "Last Page" button.

Thanks.

Thanx for the great upgrade. Feedback: there is this do you want notifications pop-up on top left that keeps appearing...am wondering whether it's necessary. A bit distracting... Just a thot! :)

Expand

Are you browsing on google chrome? In which case, you will need to either accept the site notification request or set an exception for BW.

SS1_zpsfndspuaa.png

Click on the icon on the URL bar to the left of the URL, here under "Permissions" tab, you will be able to access "Site settings".

SS2_zpsliid0a2d.png

You'll be directed to a new tab that shows your "Content settings", scroll down to somewhere in the middle and look for "Notifications", under here you will find a "Manage exceptions..." button which leads you to this window. From here, you will need to add https://www.blowingwind.io:443 into the list, and choose whether to Allow or Block site notifications. The choice is yours. After which, BW will no longer request for permission. Alternatively, you may choose to accept or block any site notifications (without request) in the previous settings window.

The current site has 3 options for thread viewing. The thread title links you to the first post of the thread, the icon to the left of the thread title (dot/star) links you to the first unread post of the thread, and the time/date below the avatar (display picture) links you to the last post of the thread.

Am i the only one who feels disturbed with those unwanted 'status update' ? Like those who post onto other users' posts and it's visible on the home page.

At least only show those 1-to-1 that's you are friends with perhaps?

It would be great if we can see a list of friends' statuses as well ;D

I personally feel it's alright to keep things the way it is at the moment considering how they're all "Recent Status Updates". You can throw out that status update feed block if you wish.

So far so good... not having any of the bugs some of the folks here are experiencing. Might be the OS on their own pc that can be doing it. But I like the clean up look and design. It is not overly done but with just the right amount of improvement to the look and notification feature is improved on.

It is good to see that our Members like the new BW Update / Interface.  Yes, while change can be a little uncomfortable (amiss), it is something that (as in life) we need to embrace.  Upgrading the Forum has its own purpose and as highlighted by HendryTan:

Blowing Wind Forum Upgrade 2015We will be previewing some of the new features in this topic in batches.1. Security using SSL (https)Many readers use public, company, school Internet to read blowingwind. With prevalence of Mobile WIFI, more people are using these too. However we know that these medium (wifi, public Internet) are susceptible to operators monitoring what you are reading/posting.We are upgrading the BW forum to use SSL ie https://This will encrypt all information between your browser and our BW servers. This will definitely add more load to our BW servers, but we have decided that it is time we should just do it.Note1: Yes you guess right, the mods have voted for a new URL for BlowingWind too. (Coming Soon)Note2: Users still can use the older http://www.blowingwind.org/ URL after the upgrade.2. HTTP 2 (TWO)HTTP 2 is a new technology supported by the newer versions of browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox to make web page download faster. We will be supporting HTTP 2 in the new release so we hope this will enable browsing experience to be faster.Readers don't have to do anything, if you are on the latest browsers versions, the browsers will switch to http 2 to make your experience faster. We encourage everyone to update to the latest browsers release to enjoy the speedup.3. Responsive User Design for Mobile DevicesMore readers are surfing BlowingWind from their mobile devices. There are many feedback to make the User Interface more consistent between the PC/web and Mobile version. The new upgraded software will support "Responsive Design". This is techie talk to make user interface similar on PC/Mobile and more functional even on mobile devices.

Both HendryTan and Bern are still working to make it stable and Glyph tackles most enquiries here.  All that I can say, give us more time as this upgrade is a huge project.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what's the cause of your issue. I've tried on both Google Chrome and IE11, both does exactly what it should: opening up the text editor. In your case, it could be a local system issue or a browser/account-specific one, hopefully one of the admins can assist you on this.

Is there a way we can see the last posting of a topic without having to scroll all the way down?

I find it irritating that upon going to the last page, it wont give me the latest posting but the first posting of the last page.

Yes, you can jump to the last post by clicking/tapping on the timestamp of the last post, which is below the name of the poster in the thread view.

I find the change in the status column can be rather intrusive or embarrassing to some people. A member can post a message to another member and shown as a status. Some of the messages should probably sent as private messages. Just saw a status ''How small is your dick?" tagged to a member's name. Must be rather embarrassing for him.

Just my 2cents.

It's an intended feature, I thought I'd post a picture to explain how the messaging system works right now. (Pardon me for sampling your profile, @iamziz)

SSZ_zpsm9ke2fat.png

The only way to not have people post weird stuff on your profile feed is to disable status updates.

SSS_zpszrzke2y5.png

Doing so post-upgrade, however, will disallow any status updates from being posted on your profile, including your own. The previous IPB version had a better system, in a sense that it allows you to turn off only cross-member status updates or to approve them before they're actually posted on your wall. @Bern, would be good to take a look and see if we can improve on this.

Do you think you can bring back the ''Preview'' option for new thread postings before a final submission? This helps to ensure the posting is right instead of posting and editing thereafter. Also, if there could be an option to edit thread titles by the TS. Every now and then we see errors and only when a Mod sees the error or if the TS contacts the Mod for editing then it is done. Like what we are seeing this morning with ''Gay Men Extroting Each Other With Threat of Exposure''

The preview option is redundant because the current text editor is reactive, in the sense that it shows whatever is being posted if you are editing special features (bold, underline, strikethrough, etc.) using the buttons provided. Even image/video links are parsed immediately after you paste them into the text editor, so I don't see why we need to have this back. IPB devs removed a lot of useless links or functions from v3 to v4 (the one we're on right now).

Thread starters can edit titles of their threads, this is done by clicking on the "Edit" link on the 1st post of the thread. This is for members only, titles of threads created by guests can only be changed by the mods. The forum cannot grant thread ownership to someone it cannot identify.

Comment for future: thot the Service/biz section seems to be quite un-happening...perhaps there's scope to open a section for pink shops/buisnesses (possibly link up to other e-shops website), but on BW collate a sort of pink Yellow Pages - for members only (so it's more reliable and less con-jobs?)  Not sure about legal/professional implications, just an idea...

It'll be nice to have a pink business community, maybe chip in to support BW...?

Not sure if this has been mentioned.

The hover over names in BW is...inconsistent. It does not hover properly when the profile preview pops up. It needs to be positioned really carefully in order to work.

Any solutions to the hover issues? :]

I suggest, with no knowledge of how hard it would be to implement, a "see more" button for statuses. Pictures/links are cut off and can only be seen when you click on the status, taking you to the poster's page. I'm pretty sure people have thought me crazy for posting "LMAO" or "LOL".
