Meanings Of Colours To Enhance Your Feng Shui

Colours represent the five elements of feng shui, but they are also indicative of sacred energies that are associated with the deities, worldly gods and celestial realms that can lift your mood beautifully.

 

 

WHITE
is the colour of appeasement. White pacifies your mood and is the sum of all colours. It represents Metal and it indicates the patriarch, the leader and the essence of power and authority. Its gemstone is the hard diamond or zirconia.

YELLOW
is the colour of increase. It brings new knowledge, new wealth and new success into your life. It can also signify the Earth element and it symbolizes jewels that bring prosperity. Yellow is the sunshine and its rays can be dazzling. Its gemstone is yellow sapphire.

 

RED
is the color of controlling. It is an auspicious colour associated with good fortune and celebrations, but it also signifies passion, sexual excess, love and marriage. This is the color of magnetizing and it subdues all hostile energies. Red signifies the Fire element and its gemstone is the ruby..

BLACK
is the color of subduing. Its element is Water and its forces can be dark and powerful. It is the ultimate YIN energy and it is associated with the chi of night time. Black gives accent and power to all colours and it is also the ultimate colour of destruction of all evil. Black gives spiritual strength of a celestial kind.

BLUE
is also the colour of water, but it is less intense than black. Blue brings calm and soothes the soul. It evokes new beginnings and a fresh start. Its gemstone is the blue sapphire, precious and inspiring.

GREEN
is the colour of new Wood and a fresh growth spurt to its surroundings. Dark green evokes the energy of old wood, while light green is like the softness of grass. The gemstone is the emerald, which brings fresh success.

ORANGE
is the colour of happiness and hope. This is the colour of asset wealth. There should never be too much of this colour around, as it can subdue the good qualities of all other colors.

BROWN
is the colour of old wood. It suggests stability, strength and experience. This is also the colour of security – a colour that can be relied on to keep the home safe and sound.

PURPLE
is the colour of satisfying completion and immense good fortune. It signifies both fire and ice, so in terms of elements, it combines fire with water, which brings steam, and hence it is power. Paired with silver it brings money luck and paired with gold it brings wealth.

The dragon symbol is all powerful

The celestial Dragon is the ultimate good luck symbol. This wonderful creature features in all the Chinese divinitive sciences and is central to the practice of feng shui.

Places with excellent feng shui are said to enjoy the dragon's cosmic breath. Thus placing a dragon image in the office is ALWAYS said to bring great good fortune.

The EAST is the place traditionally associated with the dragon... thus placing the dragon image on the East always represents excellent feng shui.

There are many ways to do this. And one can use just one of the methods or, if you are like me, you can use a combination of several methods.

Several different ways to energize the good fortune breath of the dragon:

 

 

	Purchase a dragon image and display it on a table or cabinet on the East side of your office/study. This can be made of ceramic, crystal, or wood. Dragons made of gold, cloisonne or other metals are NOT encouraged since the metal element destroys the wood element. Also, NEVER place the dragon inside the bedroom - it is too YANG a creature.
	Hang a picture of a dragon along the East wall of your office.
	Simulate the green dragon of the East in your garden by having flowering plants set in a winding flowerbed on the East side of your garden.
	Display ceramic bowls and art objects with the dragon image.
	Use a table with dragons carved on the legs, or a table with a dragon inlaid with mother of pearl. This table can be your desk, but REMEMBER, not everyone has sufficient YANG energy to sit at a dragon table.

General Feng Shui Tips Tips 1: Do not have a water feature in the bedroom. Activating the presence of water leads to loss - loss of money and loss of relationships. Water features refer to paintings with river, waterfalls and lakes. They also refer to aquariums. Glasses of water by the bedside are fine. Tips 2: Place a three legged toad in your living room near the front door for money luck. The toad can face any direction although with him facing the front door suggests money coming in. Do not put the toad directly in front of the main door. Those who want to know more about all the good fortune symbols can refer to my book FENG SHUI GOOD FORTUNE SYMBOLS recently released in Malaysia and Singapore only. Tips 3: Trim your plants and trees regularly. This is to make sure they do not get so overgrown as to cut out the precious yang energy of sunlight. When plants get too bug they create excessive yin energy. Tips 4: Hang a cut crystal ball on one of your windows. Choose a window that gets direct sunlight. this brings in the sunshine in the form of bright brilliant rainbow colours. This is excellent for relationship luck and is particularly good in the SW corner. Tips 5: A Garden in full bloom especially on the East and Southeast. A Garden in full bloom especially on the East and Southeast brings good health and lots of money luck. Make your plants grow sturdy and strong and benefit from all the precious energy created. Tips 6: Let each member of your family eat facing his/her best and most auspicious direction.

Tips for Career Success !! If you wish, you may try this: activate the North corner of your office by placing a small aquarium or fishbowl there. This activates good luck for your career. And if possible, try to locate your room in the North grid of your office. One can take a mildly scientific approach when using Feng Shui to enhance career prospects. Over the years I have personally used various formula or methods recommended by experts, faithfully observing outcomes to detect the flow of luck, and the subtle changes hoped for, and promised. This "testing out" of the potency of the recommended changes over time, has made it possible to observe what works and what does not, and more important, which method seems more powerful given the context of particular situations. The amateur practitioner is strongly advised to take a similar approach. If career success is what you want, here are a tip for career success. Check the direction and position of your room, your bed and your sleeping position. Refer to the Pa Kua Lo Shu formula in my book Applied Feng Shui to obtain your four most auspicious directions and then make certain that both the location of your bedroom and the direction your head points to when you are sleeping conform to your auspicious compass directions. Remember that in the bedroom, the only thing to energize is your sleeping direction.

Tips for Entrepreneurs !! There are several ways to use Feng Shui as a tool to enhance business success. These vary from methods aimed at increasing turnover at retail establishments like boutiques and restaurants, franchise outlets and bank branches - to using special compass school formulae for arranging office orientations that improve the prosperity (or wealth-generating) luck of business premises and offices. Feng Shui features, when introduced into factories often improve employee productivity and smooth work flows. The business people of Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan regularly introduce Feng Shui features to their business establishments, and many would not make major structural or design changes without consulting the Feng Shui man. Perhaps that is why commercial enterprises tend to be so successful in these countries! In Hong Kong, taxi driver and tycoon alike hold similar reverence and respect for Feng Shui. Feng Shui can also be applied to the interior decor of your offices, and for good measure, you can investigate your personal auspicious directions (based on the formulae of the Pa Kua Lo Shu School) in my book Applied Feng Shui and then activate them by orientating your main door and your sitting position in an auspicious direction.

Give Your Home an Energy Makeover At Least Once a Month

Keeping the energy of your living space fresh and happy is vital for maintaining good feng shui. Just like our bodies, energy in our homes can get clogged up and grow sickly. When this happens, Yin energy starts to build up in our homes, resulting in conflict, aggravations, accidents and illness. Regular energy rejuvenation helps to harmonise your environment and keep its vibrations well-tuned for attracting happiness and prosperity. Whenever there has been an illness, or a big conflict within the home, carry out these rejuvenation techniques below to restore positive balance to your home environment. Here are five easy steps to give your home an energy-makeover and we recommend scheduling this into routine at least once a month, ideally just before you enter into a new flying star month!

STEP 1 : REMOVING DIRTY VIBRATIONS

Cleanse your living space of negative vibes that have built up over time. Think that you are not just removing physical dirt but also clearing away negative energy that has accumulated from afflicted feng shui stars.

STEP 2 : TIDY UP YOUR ROOM CORNERS

Corners are the collection points of energy, and when they get clogged with junk, it can seriously affect your feng shui. Take a walk around your home and check all the corners of your living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and family rooms. Have you inadvertently left a messy heap of laundry, toys or old magazines built-up in a room corner? If yes, then invest in additional storage or throw them out! When you get rid of your old things, you make room for new things to enter your life!

STEP 3 : REMOVE BLOCKAGES FROM YOUR DOORWAYS & WINDOWS

Chi enters your home through doors and windows, so be extra particular about what is placed there. When there are blockages near your entrance, it creates obstacles to progress. Here’s a test: Walk through your doorway and pause for a minute, scanning your eye across everything you see. Have you let cartons of old items build up near your entrance? How about dying plants or dusty fake flowers in unclean vases? If you spot any clutter, remove it immediately. Do not ever let your doorways or windows be blocked by anything!

STEP 4 : CLEAN YOUR FLOORS WITH SUN WATER & WHITE VINEGAR

A great way to remove negative vibes that seep into your floors is to mop it up with “Sun Water” mixed with White Vinegar. White vinegar will lift impurities off your floors and Sun Water infuses a healthy dose of yang energy.

STEP 5 : WASH CUSHION COVERS, CURTAINS & CARPETS

These everyday items are usually the last to get cleaned! As a result, they gather massive amounts of stale energy, as well as dust and dust-mites! At least once a month, have your cushion covers removed and washed with sun-soaked water. Curtains should be wiped down and thoroughly washed every three months. Bask your pillows, cushions and duvets in the sun to remove any lingering negative vibrations.

RE-ENERGIZING YOUR LIVING SPACE

Once you have cleaned out all the clutter and got rid of negative vibrations you are now ready to commence these simple rituals of rejuvenation!

OPEN YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS!

Start by opening your doors and windows to let new energy in! Ideally you should do this early in the morning either during the Dragon Hour of 7am to 9am, or the Snake Hour between 9am and 10am on a sunny day. If it is raining outside, or if this is your Conflict Day, select a different day.

PURIFY WITH INCENSE

Regularly offer incense to the local guardian spirits who live in your home. This protect your family and keep things running smoothly! Not all incense are the same, as the ingredients must be pure and sourced from clean places.

 

THE RITUAL: Light an incense pellet and walk clockwise around your home. You can add a spoonful of Prosperity Incense Blend which contains ingredients that appeal to the Wealth Protectors. If you wish to remove obstacles, you can add a spoonful of Protector Incense Blend. Walk around your home while chanting the following offering mantra:

NAMA SARVA TATAGATHA AVALOKITE OM SAMBHARA SAMBHARA HUNG (21x).

 

While doing this think that you are purifying the energy in your living space and offering this incense to all the Wealth and Protective Guardians living in your home, and explicitly offer it to your local landlord spirits. This incense ritual can be done 3X a week to maintain the quality of vibrations in your home.

SPRINKLE SAFFRON WATER ON DOORWAYS AND CORNERS

This activates the energy points of doorways, corners and windows, allowing good fortune to re-enter and flow. Soak a pinch of saffron in a pot of hot water and allow the golden honey colours to seep into the waters. After the water has cooled, chant OM AH HUM 3X to remove vibrational impurities in the water. Using the branch of a fruit tree, sprinkle this water clockwise around your home (outside) and at doorways, corners and windows inside your home. Think that this water is blessing your home, infusing it with positive and wholesome good energy. You can also verbalise your wishes when sprinkling the water “PROSPERITY IS ENTERING MY HOME. MY HOME IS HARMONIOUS”.

RING THE SINGING BOWL or OMANI BELL

These are powerful instruments for energizing your home with good vibrations! The secret lies in the mixture of alloy metals that goes into making these items, as well as the sacred images and mantras engraved on them. Select a bowl decorated with auspicious symbols. When you sing such a bowl, you infuse each atom of your space with powerful, positive vibes! You can also ring the Om Ah Hum Five Element Pagoda Bell, which releases the powerful blessings of the Goddess Kuan Yin each time you ring the bell.

THE RITUAL: Begin singing your bowl or ringing your bell from your doorway and walk clockwise around each room 3X. Make sure you reach into each corner and spend a little extra time in sectors where the Five Yellow or Illness Star 2 is located this year or this month.

The Health Pa Kua – Effective Ways to Safeguard Your Health

Chinese tradition has always been a big advocate of the belief that “Health is Wealth”. You cannot enjoy your wealth unless you have good health. They are also big believers of  “Prevention being better than Cure”.

Enter the Health Pa Kua 

The Later Heaven Pa Kua consists of I-Ching trigrams that are arranged in a specifically special way that provides a guideline to living. There are eight trigrams in all, and each occupies a specific direction – North, South, East and West, and Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and Southwest. Each trigram is rich with meaning, laden with layers upon layers of subtle but pertinent connotations. One of these layers involves health concerns.

Why do healthy people suddenly get sick? Why do some people recover very quickly, while others succumb to illness and get worse and worse? It all comes down to the Pa Kua and to the timing.

Each direction of the eight-sided Pa Kua represents a particular body part, or a group of body parts.

When a particular sector of your home is hit by a misfortune star, you face increased risk of injury or sickness related to that particular body part governed by that sector, especially if that sector is over-activated or energized. This risk increases if the hot zones in your home happen to be located in that sector. For example, if your front door is located in the South of your home, and the illness star 2 flies into the sector that year, then residents of your home face increased risk to the eyes, blood, heart and veins. How often have you wondered why everyone in the household is suffering from a particular ailment that has no connection otherwise?

 

The remedy was simple – Metal energy. We immediately moved a large metal Wu Lou, the traditional feng shui cure for illness to the South. Metal does not harm the energy of the South, while exhausting the Earth energy of the #2. Another cure is the 6-rod metal windchime. The number 6 represents Big Metal, while the hollow rods allow the affected chi to move within the rods, in the process getting cleansed and neutralized. Once we did that all our eye ailments were pacified and we instantly got better. Innovative coincidence or what?

Beware These Afflictions

When the illness star #2, misfortune star #5 or violent star #7 moves into space within the home where you spend a lot of your time – such as the main door, your bedroom, or the living or dining area, you become very susceptible to injuries and ailments related to the relevant body part.

Enter animal astrology, and another layer of the Pa Kua. Each sector also governs a particular animal sign, or pair of animal signs. The 4 primary directions rule the 4 cardinal animal signs of Rat, Rooster, Rabbit and Horse.

The secondary directions rule the remaining 8 animal signs. Back to our South example. If your main door is located in the South, and you are born under the animal sign of Horse (ruled by the South), then your susceptibility to a malicious flying star arriving in your home location of the South gets greatly increased. And which area? Your heart, blood, veins and eyes – the grouping of body parts governed by the South.

 

The illness star #2 always brings illness, and depending on which direction it occupies, it causes illness in specific areas of the body. When it occupies the East and Southeast, it tends to bring aches and pains relating to the tongue, liver, joints and limbs. If the affliction is more severe, then something could cause damage to your bones and limbs. If the violent star #7 flies in for example, you could suffer damage to your limbs from a robbery or an accident. When a bad star enters the Southwest or Northeast, the illness has to do with the stomach or the womb. This is when it can be particularly dangerous for expecting mothers. When the North is afflicted, illness usually comes in a form related to the kidneys. When in the West or Northwest, then the lungs, nose or skin is affected.

 

Of course you cannot prepare for every eventuality because flying stars change location on a yearly, monthly, daily and even hourly basis. But if you can get some of it right, at least preparing for the yearly and monthly stars, you can go some way to protecting yourself. Carry health amulets or wear good health talismans during months when you expect to be more prone to falling victim to malevolent stars.

Usually when someone gets hit by a serious ailment that causes hospitalization, or one that may be chronic or even incurable, if you check back to the Flying Stars, you might just find a chilling alignment of misfortune stars. Often, feng shui experts lay claim to predicting spectacular events and disasters based on just this principle. One even professed to have predicted the 911 collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center this way. Sure it is easy in hindsight to explain, but far better to forecast and prevent. As your own DIY feng shui practitioner, you yourself can quite easily lay down an easy framework to go some way in protecting yourself from falling victim to menacing stars.

You may not be able to stop news breaking disasters, but you ARE in control of the feng shui of your own home. Remember, there are 4 major units of time, and two of these you can be in relative control over. Look at the yearly and monthly flight destinations of the flying stars. This you can get from the WOFS published Feng Shui Almanac, and the Lillian Too Feng Shui Diary. All the charts you need are there. The daily and hourly stars are less easy to track, because feng shui need not be all-consuming. As long as you take care of 2 out of 4, you are halfway there.

Note also that illness can come not just from the unrelenting path of the flying stars.

Illness can also arise from yin spirit formation, when a house is overly cluttered or untidy. That is why it is so important to clear out the clutter frequently. Do a regular spring clean of your home and throw out things no longer need. Blocked drains must be cleared. Appliances broken down must be repaired. When toilets or bathrooms become clogged, the problem should be attended to immediately. This last is vital to the health of the residents.

It is also good practice to carry out space clearing with a singing bowl or make incense offerings rituals on a regular basis. Space clearing purifies stagnant and negative chi built up over time. It rebalances the energies in the home. You should try to open the doors and windows of your home at least once a week, to let in a big gush of fresh air and to clear the home of stale air.

Lastly, don’t forget to also check for any offensive features or structures within the home that may inadvertently be sending out secret poison arrows of bad chi towards you when you are sleeping, dining, working or simply relaxing in the home. These are usually the culprits of headaches, migraines and other niggling forms of illness. When they are severe and big, these secret poison arrows can even cause cancer and other more serious health ailments.

This is because the loan they will be willing to give you depends on their valuation of the property and not necessarily on the price you pay. As for tenure, it makes sense to stretch out the loan as much as you can so that monthly repayments are easier on you.

You will find that what you have to pay in renting living premises is lower than monthly mortgage payments, so make sure you do your sums to make sure you can afford the repayments. Owning your own house of course holds out the promise of long term capital gain. Your house is sure to worth more than what you pay for it if you think long term. As for the repayments, these become less painful as your earning capacity improves.

Trading Up
Owning your own home also allows you to trade up. Over time as your income improves and your family expands in size, you can use your house to help you trade up i.e. help you buy a bigger house. When property values rise, it usually goes beyond the ability of first time buyers. The only way to keep up with inflation is to have a landed asset, so make sure you have this most essential hedge against inflationary pressure.

If you are purchasing property for the first time, it is better to go for landed property and avoid condominiums. Apartments rarely match landed property when it comes to capital appreciation. It is also easier to sell, say a ten year old landed link house than a ten year old apartment.

Other Investments
As your financial situation improves and you start to think of other investments, be mindful of the issue of liquidity. Assets should be easily converted back to cash. In financial terms we describe this as the liquidity of your investment. As a small time investor, it is always good not to tie down your money unnecessarily. You must be
able to convert your investment back to hard cash with a single telephone call. It is for this reason that so many people “play the stock market”.
