I've tried a few brands of leather belts from the price range of $39 (those on sales) to $179 (Braun Buffel) but none of them can last more than 2 years.

The skin of the belt starts peeling around that particular hole I always use and other areas sometimes.

Are there any lasting brands you can recommend?

Don't buy leather belt?

Maybe you want to opt for high end belt like LV if you really can afford?  Can send for repair if there's any defect.

That is usu the case Kidster

Did u keep using the same  belt, or u rotated them ?? I trust u rotated

I usu have at least two to play around........

Mine from Raoul has lasted more than 2 years, but cos I rotated it, I don't  use it all the time

Same for my piere cardin ie commonly gotten brands........(but that is not used as long as the  Raoul)

How do u store them? u let them straighten or u keep them in circles, u curl them up??I curled

Never believe that Braun Buffel will last longer, and never believe in those international brands, by the time u faithfully wait while it is sent for repair, u can forget it liao

TS you should consider to slim down or buy pant the right size. So your belt will not be stressed too much.

and stop using it for SM whip.

Nothing last forever. So many combination of action/condition will effect the life span of any product. You buy something reasonable to your budget and style and you wear it till it becomes something out of shape, has sign of wear or just that you hate it. Then buy a new one or a few this time around and move on to more crucial decisions that effects one's life.

More money will not buy you longevity of product thus you never see any brand guarantee you how long the item last 99.99% of the time. i personally have branded and unbranded belts and I only stop using them more due to style than wear and tear. What you wear in total defined you, not how long the product last to get your money's worth. I have seen people like that, still wearing the same bland outdated looking belt or whatever for over 10 years and not happy no one notices them. Yes even expensive brands items can be outdated looking within a year if too trendy. The internet has a vast amount of information on looking after leather goods and other fashion tips on how to dress right then in BW/ :P

Price is one crucial factor in deciding what belt to buy.

You need to buy at least 2 good quality leather belts - one black and one brown.

The buckle should not be too loud too.

My personal favourite is Hermes Belt..   The belt is pretty ordinary-looking and the buckle is simple.  My next preference is the Gucci belt..no not that one with the annoying monogram.

If you are budget tight, Goldlion is surely one sure bet.  Ask for the reversible belt. You can get 2 belts for the price of one... where to buy...I recommend OG People's Park cos they are having 20% discount till the end of the year.

The trick to preserve and extend the longevity of your leather belt.

Use a slightly damp cloth to wipe off the dirt and stains at least once a week.

If you can find leather oil, apply a little on it..

If not leather oil, try olive oil or even baby lotion... to me, it works almost the same.

One more thing, don't coil your belt too often.

Let it hang downwards to avoid "cracking".

@kidster -  I been using my Braun Buffel for like 4 years? Still in good condition. Bought it during sale somemore.

I do think they last. Same goes for Goldlion. The latter does have nice design nowadays.

Personal opinion -  used to own a Gucci. Less than 2 years, it went heaven.

As abang has mentioned - must maintain. I try not to let my belt gets wet (rain or any water). Once home, I take out my belt and hang in a proper place, inside my wardrobe. No heat, no sun. I should be using a leather moisturizer, but lazy la. :P

Think 2-3 years for a daily belt to show wear and tear is quite common. I got mine at one of those specialty belt shops at far east plaza (run by old uncle no less). They have a variety (the whole shop) of belts and buckles for you to choose from and you can mix and match and have any length/type of skin you desire. Costs around $40+ per belt+buckle. You can buy separately also depending on what you need.

If it's only the hole that is worn out, then perhaps you can look into the correct way to remove your belt (I actually learned it from the uncle but forgot already).

Oh, btw, can always ask for slight discount from the shop if you buy more.

@keyboard Does the shop only sell the belt? I don't need a new buckle.

Can I have the unit no. of the shop? Thanks.

The side where I carry my bag over my shoulder usually peels off first because of the fiction. I guess it can't be help unless I carry my laptop bag with my hands.

@kidster Yea, they do (all sorts of animals and types, whether you want glossy or with thread, or dull and flat). Unfortunately, I don't remember the shop unit or name, it's on the outskirts of the layout, I remember it's not at level 1 (our basement 1 - where all the clothes stores are at). Doubt they open everyday also.

If you don't mind the non-glossy types, you could get less tear out of those flat/dull types. But of course, it have to match with what you wear. Bring the buckle, so the uncle can help you change to the new belt for free or you can do it on your own at home. Just make sure your buckle is those can remove type and not some high class sew in or push in type. Not sure, bring there and ask.

Correct, get those matte finished type. It doesn't look cheap at all and have a higher quality. Also, glossy leather looks so sissy

Funny ting is I see many branded ones that cost a lot that look gaudy or ugly in design. some that shout the brand so loud that it makes it look tacky. And yet I have very basic simple line belts that looks really go. Not loud and blend well with the entire combination of clothing. The day of loud brand logo and over since the 1990s. The styling now and always will be classic simple line.
