Guest Guest Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Please la... that is not a friend...that's just an evangelist. His intention is not to be your friend. His intention is just to convert you. Ironrod, yhtang and camus 3
wantonmee Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) Show him your "I ❤ Satan" tattoo? But seriously, what's so difficult about saying "no, I do not wish to join your church but am happy to continue jogging witchu" Edited June 7, 2017 by wantonmee Silverwing 1
Guest Can say no right Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 I have had similar friends trying to convert me... sometimes I do wonder if they get some points for successfully converting friends ! I am always very firm with such friends that I have no interest in going any particular church not bec I don't believe In Gods but just not one attached to only one church. If you are not firm they will keep trying...
kaze Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 He's just being pious in his religion. Many pious people believe in their religion and want to share it with others. Not exactly wrong in that.. but you do have a choice whether to go or not. Like wantonmee pointed out, you can tell him you're not keen to go to church. jeeves 1
Leanmeat Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 If its really close friend then just be frank and speak yr mind. If he is a real friend he will understand. If he still persist, tell him off lor. Nothing so difficult CKW 1
iamziz Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Have a chat saying you are not keen. If you think you can't talk, they write to him. If he doesn't get the message or refuses to get the message, respect yourself and walk away. You don't need unnecessary stress especially from people trying to dictate your life. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 善待对人。麻烦用英文来表达信息。不是每个人都会看的懂中文 。| “People need to learn the art of making an argument. lonelyglobe Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 u two just meet recently and already close friend??? close friend won't brainwash u and should at least know how to respect others choices, otherwise just block him.
Tamp1992 Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 He's just trying to reach out to you, not "brainwashing" at all. There is no wrong in politely rejecting him.

As usual..no names no nothing. I challange you to name the church, name the pastors, name your friend. If you are so 'kind', name the church.
Marineboy Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Watch with him...the origins of religion on you tube.... ask him if he can handle the truth before that! BTW Chris Angel can walk on water ...a likely a few more when they find our the secret. When one person talks to an imaginary being...he is crazy... When many many many do that...it's religion. auscent Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 This is not a fren. True frens love unconditionally. I've a religious fren who cooks for me while listen to my guy problems. No judgement. And he is a pastor.
CKW Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Just stand your ground if you don't intend to join his church. If he's a true friend and a true Christian, he will respect your decision and continue being your friend without pressuring you. Even Jesus did not force people to believe in Him. He just preached, and then He let the person decide what to do with the message. But if everytime you go out with that friend the topic of church comes up (originating from him), then you may have to minimise contact with him, because that will strain the friendship. On a side note, I know of Christians who go around poaching other Christians to join their church. It's not enough that you go to church - you must attend their church. dreamerboy and jeeves 2

I don't totally disagree... But all religions or believers don't behave like TS's friend maybe? This being said, there is a thin frontier between some religions and sects sometimes... Marineboy 1
yhtang Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 This person may or may not be a true friend. He is very interested in attracting you to HIS church, that is certain. If you tell him you are not interested, and he respects your religious choice while continuing to be your friend, then he is probably a true friend. If he leaves you after you tell his you are not interested, then he is just trying to get you into his church. You are just another religious equivalent to a "notch on the bedpost" to him. You will lose nothing ditching him. The "kindness" and "friendship" he showed you had ulterior motives - that is not what a true friend is. Do not be embarrassed to tell him you are not interested in his religion. If his ego is hurt, that is his problem. If his faith is true, he should not have an ego over his belief. Choose friends wisely. Be true to yourself and your beliefs. Today, it is religion. Who knows what topic/belief someone might throw at you in the future? Stand your ground and you should be fine.
Guest Glyph Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I stopped, and laughed, at the "his pastors and fiends" part. Not sure if intended but you got me there. Ahuehuehue.

I didn't notice until you mentioned!! Indeed, some pastors are fiends: She once referred to herself as a "singer-pastor". Benny Hinn, another fraud The late Paul & Jan Crouch, founders of Trinity Broadcasting Network. Their lives were filled were deceit, greed and scandal.

It didn't sound like he is pushing you too hard. It's totally okay to decline his invitation if you don't feel ready or don't feel right joining his religion. It is more about you than him when it comes to deciding whether to become a believer in a religion brand new to you or not.

I felt bad to tell him , in any polite way, but I am afraid to hurt his ego. Can anyone help in such situation I met a random woman at hospital a couple of weeks ago. She was trying to brainwashed me. She first asked what is my religion and I replied politely that I am a buddhist. She then sat down and the first word she said was: "let me tell you about MY GOD. He created fish and vegetables for us; (Interesting) your Buddha doesn't even create these for you. And orh, I prayed to my god for houses and He really did "gave" me. I have 4 houses now. You see the ones in the wards, they are all here because they don't believe in God. Also, I had a terrible on my knee due to fractures few years back. I prayed to Him and He healed my knee......". I then questioned her. "I know that God teaches you to love your neighbor as yourself, do you mind give me 1 or 2 houses that you already have?...since you can pray for few more houses. Is this what's religion about? the Bible told you to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength right? Why don't you give up your heart now as offering to your God or donate it away to the one who is in need of a heart transplant? Think of my question: "Where is your [heart] other than your organ? (this is a deep question)" When someone tries to brainwash me, I question him/her/them back and tell them to not to do that next time.

What a terrible thing for that woman to say!! I would say that most Christians are not as crass, insensitive, ignorant and tactless as her. How dare she say that people go to hospital because they don't believe in God! A lot of very holy people who believe in God also end up in hospital. Sickness happens to everyone, regardless of religion. Also, 4 houses?! Even if she really has that, there is no need to brag and flaunt it. Again, a lot of devout Christians don't even have a quarter of her supposed wealth. Are they therefore less holy than her? Definitely not. To me, she sounds like a perfect New Creation Church/City Harvest disciple. Because those two churches teach that God will bless you with endless wealth and other material possessions if you will give a lot of money to their senior pastors.
