I think more applicable for older generation - yes, true: older gen means all those born before early 70s
(now the younger gen has become elongated in heights, down there and , same for their pride and rudeness too, lol)

 

but I m not into the "looks" particularly so it is fine , to each his own

I think those born after the 70s are short too as I have seen a number of them at the gym usually below 170 cm.

Thing is, average height for guys in SG is around 171 - 175 ba.. So, 170 isn't really short ah.

In general, those born before the 80s are shorter than those after.  It is only in the 80s that Singapore economy picked up steam and people are better off.  

 

You can't judge from those guys in the gym.  Most gymmers are short and work to make up horizontally.  Lol.

Nope, most of the boys from my peer groups are relatively taller because we were one of the first to have swimming pools in our school...think the defunct swimming pool at Hoot Kiam Road and that at Barker Road.  Most RI and ACS boys had started to acquire a tan at the age of 13 onwards.  We also frequented that Speedo shop across Orchard Cinema, think that is where Robinson's sits today.

 

So during that onslaught of puberty, we had more venues to exercise.  Not forgetting that compulsory National Service kicked in some years ago and the school had regular morning exercises each and every school day.
