It is immensely comforting to have an avenue to reach out to a good Doctor, who is able to understand our needs and lifestyle issues in a caring and more holistic manner... without any prejudice. There is actually a difference between a gay doctor, and a gay friendly doctor. A gay doctor is likely to know intimately what gay guys get up to, whereas a gay friendly doctor.... well, who knows.
