truely the king of pop, there can be no other like him from now.

Too bad his later days were shrudded with sex scandal and financial woes. His much awaited London Concert in July is marked as his come back show, unforunately that's not gonna to happen.

While I cant say much on his antics and behavior, I do like his music.

RIP Michael

A Salute to the King of Pop...Michael Jackson...I love his originality...where ppl would later copy...especially the one with different faces and different hairstyles....this one has been copied repeatedly...I really enjoy watching the videoclips over and over..the one with the Princess of Egypt (is it?) where he disappeared in a second...all these are so remarkable. Of course, all of us have our shortcomings....and he of course has his as well...being so rich and also wanting to be someone that he is not....all that.......

It is also an irony too that all real great stars die young....among asians, we have many...the one closest to my heart is Bruce Lee....Leslie Cheung, Roman,

Anita Mui................And I also miss greatly Teresa Teng.....

Perhaps, when they are alive, we as fans or the public in general, do not have the chance to get news of these stars....except thro magazines, news....

and so when they suddenly die, the media will start to "remember" them...and we get to see all their achievements again....so it is not really pretense...

it is just "life"

A final salute to Michael Jackson...the Black and White....Ben.....Beat It....and so many more...

Guest no trying to nit pick
Along with the King of Pop, the world also lost another icon of the 1980's - Farah Fawcett. Not a great actress, but surely iconic in the 80's with her hair and body. Jill Monroe... you will also be missed.

Not trying to nit pick here, but respect should be shown to the demised.

Farrah is spelt with a double r instead. Not the local version with a single r. you have let your fox tail show . ( lu chu wu li wei pa )

It is just to show respect to her and her fans that her name must be spelt correctly , you would not want people to spell your name incorrectly do you ??

Espaecially when someone has passed away, the memory must be intact and correct to those who care about Farrah Fawcett Majors. Formers Mrs. Lee Majors.

Another of MJ's contributions:

Remember I had major goosebumps when I first saw the video.

Written by MJ and Lionel Ritchie, this song brought many stars in the 80's together to sing the song.

There hasn't been and ever since that a song brought so many stars together for a single song.

Many other stars who wanted to participate were turned down.

Even Bette Midler didn't get to sing a solo part.

It seems Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder's voices took up the most parts of the song.

Please read the above link to get a better understanding of this amazing man.

RIP E. Lynn Harris.

When I read the article, I realised he had actually written his memoir titled as "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted." This is also the name of an aamzing song from the 1960's that many of you may not know.

Re-visiting the youtube version of the song and reading the lyrics, I thought this song is so symbolic of the lives of most gay men, me included. See the video and the lyrics I attached below and see if you agree.

The youtube video of the original song sang by Jimmy Ruffin is

Westlife also sang the same song

Jimmy Ruffin - What Becomes Of The Broken-hearted

As I walk this land with broken dreams

I have visions of many things

Love's happiness is just an illusion

Filled with sadness and confusion,

What becomes of the broken hearted

Who had love that's now departed?

I know I've got to find

Some kind of peace of mind

Maybe.

The fruits of love grow all around

But for me they come a tumblin' down.

Every day heartaches grow a little stronger

I can't stand this pain much longer

I walk in shadows

Searching for light

Cold and alone

No comfort in sight,

Hoping and praying for someone to care

Always moving and goin to where

What becomes of the broken hearted

Who had love that's now departed?

I know I've got to find

Some kind of peace of mind

Maybe.

I'm searching though I don't succeed,

But someone look, there's a growing need.

Oh, he is lost, there's no place for beginning,

All that's left is an unhappy ending.

Now what's become of the broken-hearted

Who had love that's now departed?

I know I've got to find

Some kind of peace of mind

I'll be searching everywhere

Just to find someone to care.

I'll be looking everyday

I know I'm gonna find a way

Nothings gonna stop me now

I'll find a way somehow

I'll be searching everywhere

Please play safely! Use a condom if you are having anal sex.

And, Lungker, you said you don't like 'arty-farty' people? Your waxing lyrical here about the lyric and the expression of your feeling about the person's death, is quite, ahem, different from what you professed about the types of people you like.

Not difficult to guess who I am, I think. Haha.

LOS ANGELES - Patrick Swayze personified a particular kind of masculine grace both on and off screen, from his roles in films like "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" to the way he carried himself in his long fight with pancreatic cancer.

Swayze died from the illness on Monday in Los Angeles, his publicist said. He was 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," Annett Wolf said in a statement Monday evening. She declined to give details.

Fans of the actor were saddened to learn in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from an especially deadly form of cancer. He continued working despite the diagnosis, putting together a memoir with his wife and shooting "The Beast," an A&E drama series for which he had already made the pilot.

Swayze said he chose not to use painkillers while making "The Beast" because they would have taken the edge off his performance. The show drew a respectable 1.3 million viewers when the 13 episodes ran this year, but A&E said it reluctantly decided not to renew it for a second season.

When he first went public with the illness, some reports gave him only weeks to live, but his doctor said his situation was "considerably more optimistic" than that. Swayze acknowledged that time might be running out given the grim nature of the disease.

"I'd say five years is pretty wishful thinking," Swayze told ABC's Barbara Walters in early 2009. "Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."

And that's exactly what he did. In February, Swayze wrote an op-ed piece in the Washington Post titled, "I'm Battling Cancer. How About Some Help, Congress?" in which he urged senators and representatives to vote for the maximum funding for the National Institutes of Health to fight cancer as part of the economic stimulus package.

He also appeared in the September 2008 live television event "Stand Up to Cancer," where he pleaded: "I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life, a life not lived in the shadow of cancer, but in the light. ... I dream that the word 'cure' will no longer be followed by the words 'is impossible.'"

Celebrities and fans inspired by Swayze's struggle poured out their condolences, including C. Thomas Howell, who costarred with Swayze in "The Outsiders," "Grandview U.S.A." and "Red Dawn."

"I have always had a special place in my heart for Patrick," he said. "While I was fortunate enough to work with him in three films, it was our passion for horses that forged a friendship between us that I treasure to this day."

Others used Twitter to express their sadness, and "Dirty Dancing" was a top trending topic Monday night, trailed by other Swayze films.

Demi Moore, who played Swayze's fiancee in "Ghost," wrote: "Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives." Moore's husband, Ashton Kutcher, tweeted: "RIP P Swayze" and linked to a YouTube clip of the actor poking fun at himself in a classic "Saturday Night Live" sketch, in which he played a wannabe Chippendales dancer alongside the corpulent and frighteningly shirtless Chris Farley.

Larry King wrote: "Patrick Swayze was a wonderful actor & a terrific guy. He put his heart in everything. He was an extraordinary fighter in his battle w Cancer." King added that he'd do a tribute to Swayze on his CNN program Tuesday night.

A three-time Golden Globe nominee, Swayze became a star with his performance as the misunderstood bad boy Johnny Castle in "Dirty Dancing." As the son of a choreographer who began his career in musical theater, he seemed a natural to play the role.

A coming-of-age romance starring Jennifer Grey as an idealistic young woman on vacation with her family and Swayze as the Catskills resort's sexy (and much older) dance instructor, the film made use of both his grace on his feet and his muscular physique.

It became an international phenomenon in the summer of 1987, spawning albums, an Oscar-winning hit song in "(I've Had) the Time of My Life," stage productions and a sequel, 2004's "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights," in which he made a cameo.

Swayze performed and co-wrote a song on the soundtrack, the ballad "She's Like the Wind," inspired by his wife, Lisa Niemi. The film also gave him the chance to utter the now-classic line, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."

Swayze followed up with the 1989 action flick "Road House," in which he played a bouncer at a rowdy bar. But it was his performance in 1990's "Ghost" that showed his vulnerable, sensitive side. He starred as a murdered man trying to communicate with his fiancee, with great frustration and longing, through a psychic played by Whoopi Goldberg.

"Ghost" provided yet another indelible musical moment: Swayze and Moore sensually molding pottery together to the strains of the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody." It also earned a best-picture nomination and a supporting-actress Oscar for Goldberg, who said she wouldn't have won if it weren't for Swayze.

"When I won my Academy Award, the only person I really thanked was Patrick," Goldberg said in March 2008 on the ABC daytime talk show "The View."

Swayze himself earned three Golden Globe nominations, for "Dirty Dancing," "Ghost" and 1995's "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar," which allowed him to toy with his masculine image. The role called for him to play a drag queen on a cross-country road trip alongside Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo.

His heartthrob status almost kept him from being considered for the role of Vida Boheme.

"I couldn't get seen on it because everyone viewed me as terminally heterosexually masculine-macho," he told The Associated Press then. But he transformed himself so completely that when his screen test was sent to Steven Spielberg, whose Amblin pictures produced "To Wong Foo," the director didn't recognize him.

Among his earlier films, Swayze was part of the star-studded lineup in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel "The Outsiders," alongside Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Emilio Estevez and Diane Lane. Other '80s films included "Red Dawn," "Grandview U.S.A." and "Youngblood," once more with Lowe, as Canadian hockey teammates.

In the '90s, he made such eclectic films as "Point Break" (1991) in which he played the leader of a band of bank-robbing surfers, and the family Western "Tall Tale" (1995) in which he starred as Pecos Bill. He appeared on the cover of People magazine as its "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1991, but his career tapered off toward the end of the 1990s, when he went to rehab for alcohol abuse. In 2001, he appeared in the cult favorite "Donnie Darko," and in 2003 he returned to the New York stage with "Chicago"; 2006 found him in the musical "Guys and Dolls" in London.

Swayze was born in 1952 in Houston, the son of Jesse Swayze and choreographer Patsy Swayze, whose films include "Urban Cowboy."

He played football but also was drawn to dance and theater, performing with the Feld, Joffrey and Harkness Ballets and appearing on Broadway as Danny Zuko in "Grease." He turned to acting in 1978 after a series of injuries.

Within a couple years of moving to Los Angeles, he made his debut in the roller-disco movie "Skatetown, U.S.A." The eclectic cast included Scott Baio, Flip Wilson, Maureen McCormack and Billy Barty.

Off-screen, he was an avid conservationist who was moved by his time in Africa to shine a light on "man's greed and absolute unwillingness to operate according to Mother Nature's laws," he told the AP in 2004.

Swayze was married since 1975 to Niemi, a fellow dancer who took lessons with his mother; they met when he was 19 and she was 15. A licensed pilot, Niemi would fly her husband from Los Angeles to Northern California for treatment at Stanford University Medical Center.

Patrick, you were very brave and put up a courageous fight against the cancer. Your passing has touched many hearts, but we are grateful for the joy and pleasure that your professionalism as an actor brought into our lives. Speaking for myself, I shall never forget how you moved me with your performance in "Ghost". The battle is over now, Patrick, you rest peacefully and we shall always remember you.

CTV.ca News Staff

Date: Sun. Dec. 20 2009 8:44 PM ET

Actress Brittany Murphy has died at the age of 32, a hospital spokesperson has confirmed.

Reports say Murphy suffered cardiac arrest at the home of her husband, Simon Monjack, and was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m.

Ed Winter, Assistant Chief Coroner in Los Angeles County, said the cause of death "appears to be natural."

Murphy apparently collapsed in the bathroom Sunday morning and authorities are examining her medical history, Winter said.

He added that Murphy's family is co-operating with the coroner's investigation, and an autopsy is planned for Monday or Tuesday.

The young actress is perhaps best known for her roles in "Sin City," "Girl, Interrupted," "Clueless," "8 Mile," and voicing a character in the animated penguin tale "Happy Feet."

She told The Associated Press in 2003 that "8 Mile" gave her widespread recognition.

"That changed a lot," she said. "That was the difference between people knowing my first and last name as opposed to not."

Three of her movies, including "The Expendables" starring Sylvester Stallone, are in post-production.

Despite those films, there had been reports Murphy's career had hit some obstacles this year.

Earlier this month, a publicist for Murphy denied she was fired from the set of the film "The Caller." She was replaced by former "Twilight" actress Rachelle Lefevre.

Less than an hour after news of her death became public, the search term "RIP Brittany Murphy" was already the second most popular topic on Twitter.

"To have such a tragic ending like this really took a lot of people by surprise," David Caplan, an editor at People magazine, told CTV News Channel. "There were no known public woes that she was openly facing."

Last month, her husband was hospitalized after he experienced a medical condition on a plane that landed at Los Angeles International Airport.

Murphy was born Nov. 10, 1977 in Atlanta, but grew up in New Jersey. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother, hoping to gain success as an actress.

"When I asked my mom to move to California, she sold everything and moved out here for me," she told AP. "I was really grateful to have grown up in an environment that was conducive to creating and didn't stifle any of that. She always believed in me."

In 2003, she co-starred with Ashton Kutcher in the romantic comedy "Just Married," and the two were involved in a relationship.

On Sunday, Kutcher wrote a message of condolence on his Twitter feed: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon."

He continued: "see you on the other side kid."

Talentime singer Yue Lei dies

By Joy Fang

VETERAN homegrown crooner Yue Lei has died in Malacca at the age of 50 from cancer.

The singer, known for his win in the 1981 Mandarin Talentime and his evergreen ballads, had been battling nose cancer since 2005. Seven of his relatives, including an older brother, also died from cancer.

Yue had sold his house in Singapore and moved to Malacca in June last year.

He last performed here in September 2009 at three gigs at Kreta Ayer People's Theatre.

Yue had planned to celebrate his son's 14th birthday here last Saturday, but could not return as he had to settle some financial issues.

His assistant, Mr Roger Tan, said that Yue died in his sleep at about 11.30pm last Saturday night, said newspaper reports.

Mr Tan had discovered Yue foaming at the mouth and his body cold to the touch, according to Chinese evening newspaper Lianhe Wanbao. His body will arrive in Singapore today and his wake will be held in a church in Thomson Road.

The news has saddened many long-time fans of his.

Housewife Sandy Png, 52, said: "It's a pity that he died so young. If he was around, he could have still continued singing."
