This applies everywhere, not just MDC.

 

Look at China, so many young 'idol' actors who can't act for nuts (even worse than Elvin) but survive purely based on looks and popularity.

 

Even in Hollywood, the highest paid actor is Dwayne Johnson, who is also a terrible actor.

The Rocket Award was only introduced in that year Elvin had his breakout year, probably because MDC desperate to revamp his image into a respected actor and also maybe encourage him, so anyhow create this award for him since its obvious he won't win Best Actor. 

 

But after 10 years, MDC look like they gave up on his CMI acting already cos he only can excel in dumb dumb roles. Don't even bother to give him Best Actor nomination anymore lol.

I think it's also party cos Elvin is super narcissistic and enjoys it? So he is totally cool with showing his body because he is an attention whore.

 

You can tell he REALLY likes the adoration he receives from XMMs even though he is already 40-years old.

Compare his attitude to his peers like Julian Hee (who is super private) or Shaun Chen and Pierre Png (who focuses on improving their acting and don't care about popularity) then its no surprise why Elvin's acting never improve over the years. 

 

He enjoys the fame and doesn't seem very bothered by the lack of respect. If he had more integrity, he would have enrolled himself for some acting course like Julie Tan did. I'm quite sure his colleagues probably gossips about his CMI acting all the time.
