That was the vibe we got when the 41-year-old former actress and local TV darling spoke to Yahoo Singapore about starting afresh, getting back into acting and enjoying time with her children. Lilin, who rose to fame in 90s crime television series Triple Nine, has decided to return to acting after being away from the limelight during the better part of her nine-year marriage to her Chinese American hubby. “I’ve been a full-time mom for the longest time… and I am excited to get back into acting,” said the mother of two, who sat calm and composed before a performance at a Raffles Hotel Arcade art gallery called, Chan Hampe Galleries. The radiant-looking Lilin, boasting a toned physique in her body-hugging and sleeveless cotton black dress, recently moved back to Singapore with her kids after splitting with Wu. The family had left for Shanghai, China, in order to pursue better career prospects for her model hubby and "Amazing Race Asia" host in 2011.So what was the cause of split? While rumor has it the family's move to China three years ago was the beginning of when things started to go wrong, Lilin was unwilling to divulge much.Speculation around the previously happily married couple began after both were reportedly spotted attending a mediation session for divorce proceedings in early August. Shortly after, the couple's artiste management company Fly Entertainment confirmed the couple "reached a mutual decision to get divorced".Media attention surrounding the split was comparatively muted, compared to the buzz around fellow celeb couple Joanne Peh and Bobby Tonelli’s break-up. But throughout the interview, she remained calmed and composed with no hint of bitterness, even praising Wu's fatherly qualities. “The kids are coping just fine. I think they are very resilient. Allan is a very loving dad as I am a loving parent as well. In that sense, they are not short on that [love]. Of course they would ideally like both parents to be together, but that simply is not the truth,” said Lilin, who added Wu still visits the kids regularly whenever he was in town. “They [children] are not stupid. They know that you can have a family where your parents are together, and they also know when things are not going right. For them, nothing is different apart from the fact that their father and mother are not living together,” said Lilin, adding that she was honest when explaining the split to her children Sage, 8, and Jonas,5. But Lilin and her children seemed to have coped perfectly well with the split. “With the kids now in school, they’ll come back and will have a chat and a healthy snack, which can be a crepe or thin pancakes that are low in gluten. I encourage my kids to go out and play in the pool…sometimes they go cycling,” Lilin said after describing that her current house, rumored to be in Sentosa Cove, now has a larger space for her children to play in and it also has a swimming pool. Lilin, meanwhile, is wasting no time getting back into the saddle of juggling motherhood with a busy career. One of the pioneers of the Pilates movement in Singapore, Lilin is also the founder of exercising tool Loopz Fitness band and has been busy promoting it at fitness conventions. The public can also expect to see more of her now that she has started acting again – she performed in an arts performance piece called “Future/Perfect”, which took place soon after this interview. “I’m excited to be a part of this project and working with Tara Subkoff, who is the director. As well as Elizabeth [Lazan], who is so young and passionate about producing this project,” she said, adding that she is open to working for any interesting media projects and shaking her head when asked about directing and producing. One thing, though, has not changed, and that's her tendency to shy away from media publicity.
