KB close down because of late negotiation with the landlord of leasing issue.The landlord ask the owner of kb to renew their contract but it was push off to a later date so the landlord accept payment from a new bidder and can't back out from the agreement anymore so that's why KB need to be evicted and cease operation.

Yes you're correct , this is what exactly the Management of KB told me as well & it's not a matter of increase of rental , it's a matter of the landlord has already signed a new lease with another new owner without KB Management knowledge & KB Management is willing to pay for any increment amount , but landlord says he cannot do anything now coz new lease has already been signed ..

Till now , nobody knows exactly who the landlord has leased the place to & it's confidential !

But definitely it's not another gay sauna establishment & if possible , Kb Management will try to re-negotiate with the new owner to see whether can they lease back the same location again , hopefully !

There is no conspiracy behind it.

The landlord have approach KB many months before the lease is up asking them to renew their contract but KB keep pushing these talks off to a later date and procrastinate too much.

So the landlord without able to get a reply from KB meanwhile got other bidders knocking on their door so the they go and sign a new agreement with a new bidder.

This is purely a business decision.

Firstly, Keybox did ask the landlord to renew the contract since last year. The landlord is the one pushing the talk away and accept a new bid without the acknowledgement of keybox management.

Secondly, the landlord did not inform keybox management that he is not willing to renew the contract. Thats why keybox proceed on with the renovation earlier this year.

Thirdly, keybox management is currently finding new location. However everything is not confirm. They may continue with the business if suitable location can be found.

Lastly, 22nd is the last day of operation. Complimentry passes and 5/8 visit pass must be use before this day.

Any question just call or visit keybox and ask? If I can visit and ask, why cant the rest of you do so? Instead of talking crap about their management and spreading groundless rumours.

Strange, strange.  How about my theory that the religious right may be behind all this?  After all,  if City Harvest Church could harvest so many millions from their sanctimonious suckers to promote that sleazy wife of the pastor,  they should have enough money to attack gay establishments, and remember, they allegedly have the support an blessing of their homophobic God too!

 

It would be nice if Singapore attracts gay or gay friendly investors with big money who would own the establishments of the gay scene.  What comes to mind is the Babylon sauna in Bangkok, which does not run the risk of being run out by landlords because it is not rented. It is part of a villa owned by a wealthy man whose pet project is to keep Babylon as the best all around gay sauna/hotel ever.

For all we know the business next door wants to expand, and wants to pay a higher rent to occupy KB floor area to expand their business for more VIp rooms where clients can spend thousands a night on XO brandy and on the wenches who flirt and service them.

 

Business es go bust and belly up when they are not keeping up with the times and even when you are doing everything right in your business , a business competitor may just pull the rug from under your feet when they need to expand, your business happens to be collateral damage, which in this case seems to be the fate of KB.

Maybe the new owner  will have the same problem the next time when thier lease expired.Maybe keybox should go to case and complaint to take back renovation cost from the landlord after all the landlord knew the renovation is on  with the permit in their  hand and they never stop  them.

You have a good point.  I don't know of laws in SG, but in the US the fact that the property owner did let the renter proceed with costly renovations while knowing that his rent would not be renewed would be a reason for compensating the renter for the costs of renovation..

Some people already mentioned, the owner already asked the Keybox whether they want to renew or not. It is Keybox that keep dragging on the reply. No matter the reason, blaming the landlord is wrong.

I am sure no landlord want to rent their place to unreasonable people like you and those who cant even apply simple logic on this matter.
