collin lives in buangkok, slightly up from AMK avenue 5. the flat is relatively new, and there is a multi-storey carpark beneath it, therefore it provides great convenience for motorists.

when i first entered collin's flat, i was substantially impressed. it was relatively well furnished and spacious, and more importantly, he lives alone and devotes the master bedroom for his massage business. first, collin sat me down at the dining table, and went through a health questionaire with me. in his sports singlet and shorts, he looks like a lean runner, his looks refined, and he speaks good English.

we went through the questionaire, i could tell he takes his job seriously. i found this prelude to the massage very useful (he dispenses health tips) and professional (i have some health problems which i found essential to highlight to him), but more so, it became an effective ice breaker for us as we eased into a short chat.

inside the massage room, i was bowled over by its spaciousness. it was nicely platformed, there was a proper massage bed and attached bathroom (clean and stocked with essential toiletries); the room was also nicely scented and with music and ambiant lighting.

as it was aroma oil massage, he covered me up well, and towels were odourless and felt clean. collin is definitely an experienced masseur. i wouldn't say that he provided me the best massage i have had, but he has good strength, consistent routines, sensitive fingers (to acupoints and physical anomalies) and a soothing touch. i enjoyed it back to front, although collin is still a tad of my full marks, and i am still not sure why. anyway, massage is such a subjective pleasure, different strokes for different folks literally.

Actually, it is a 1-room HDB flat and is quite run down (although it is clean). 1-room HDB flats are very rare nowadays, and those that exists were built decades ago. Massage is conducted on a bed. There's a fan but no air-cond. Rating : 4/10.

Massage : Andy's skills is surprisingly good. Firm, long strokes, yet relaxing. I've tried many other home based masseurs (Ken, Steven, etc) and in terms of skills, I find Andy one of the best. I slept very well that night. Rating : 9/10

Price : The ad says "$60 onwards" and "I cater a service package which includes almost everything to fulfil your desire". But when I called, in a very straight-forward manner, I was told its $80, including a scrub (which I declined) and "manhood massage". The "manhood massage" was good. Given the ambience, I find $80 to be on the high side.

Conclusion : The masseur is very good but the place is run down. I'll probably opt for outcall in the future.

during CNY, I tried this new place called valley men spa located off river valley. it is sorta diagonally opposite from aspen heights, along a row of shophouses next to a kids school. its convenient location is a double-edge sword: it's conveniently perched next to the main road of river valley, yet so open as when u enter, you just don't know who has spotted u.

the spa occupies the first floor of a shophouse, it is spacious, still smells of turpentine, so it is a good time to visit before it starts collecting grime and much publicity (good or bad that clouds your opinion). its holding area is comfortable to lounge about, and simply furnished, although i found the golden sofa drapes and chinese painting, and zen-like indoor decorative plants a bit of a clash. not sure what style it is assuming. but generally still better than most other establishments and certainly roomy.

the therapists are mostly filipinos; the bosses are ron spa's ex owner ron himself and a guy called shane. overall, they present a good mix, there is something for everyone from atheletic fit, stocky to one bordering on lumpy (and I shall not name name), haha. but end of the rest, one man's meat is another man's poison, to each his own, and there is a market for every kind. i personally find the mix of therapists interesting and diverse enough.

the skills of the therapists vary of course. you might want to check with the receptionist and let him know your needs so that he can suitably recommend. but i must say, most of them are service oriented, and willing to please, and that is a huge plus point (why have a greek god when his attitude sucks or charge sky high for extras?).

the spa offers three single rooms, a tad small for my liking, but also has a double-bed room which is very spacious. so if you'd like to go with a friend and have a session together, by all means. the bathing area has no cubicles or separation, which might be a plus or a minus depending on your liking.

overall, i must say this is a pleasant place to visit. they are new, so be forgiving for small hiccups, they are obviously still trying out iron out some operational kinks. but they more than make it up with its friendly service and non-sleazy ambiance.

the biggest plus point for me is that this new joint does not attempt to rip customers off for extras. like i said in the above, they are "service oriented and willing to please", so read in between the lines, and expect accomodating service.

now for the ratings out of a maximum of *****:

price: for $85 per hour which includes a 15 minute manhood therapy, this is good value for money. might be a shade pricier than water spa, but still ok for novelty factor. overall, ***

ambiance: ***1/2, no frills, but its newness is a plus
