well, i dont kiss in public though, but well you know what happens when not in public.

I'm happy because I learnt to be contented. Black & White life with surprising rainbows sometimes. ;)

Once, with my ex during the end of our first date. I gave him a peck as a goodbye/goodnight before we head to our respective cars. He didn't expect it and he blushed after that haha.

Often, and hug too...No big deal for me or for anybody around me so far...

I would love to make out in a club, with his arms around me. It's like a ride on the magic carpet...nice.

A friend and I had a little too much to drink at a local club and were heading home.....We stood in the middle of an intersection on the road and kissed long and passionately as cars drove by, horns honking and our friends on the footpath calling out encouragement! Was expecting some kind of reaction but nothing at all! No angry passers-by and no pics in the media!

BTW.....felt great and so liberating!

Hello guys, I guess it's an interesting topic to discuss this seemingly innocuous topic - PDA

Well technically it's not illegal to showcase any form of affection between 2 guys, but do you guys do it? (Now ofc I am referring to those who were/are in a relationship. No empty statements please!) Will you guys conform to social constructs and not do something that is seen socially awkward?

And that leads me to another question - what kind of PDA do you guys engage in? How far would you go in public then?

Haha I just thought it's an interesting topic to discuss and share, especially with the many people here who're new to it all...

been there done that.

now to me, it's the look in the eyes that's more important and the feeling of closeness with each other sitting shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet.

still not comfortable abt PDA whether its straight/gay. DA should be left at home, behind closed doors.

I dun need to make others envious of me bcoz I m loved or more luvable than them.

In my younger & foolish days, I met a lot of married ang mohs who were into that.

No need to be so expressive/demonstrative in public lor(just my personal opinion)

Just visited Sentosa Flowers today and noticed a youngish couple (late 20s to early 30s) walking around hand in hand, oblivious to the stares of passersby.

Its adorable that they live just in each others world and have eyes just for each other.

They weren't hugging or kissing in public, just strolling around hand in hand. Definitely not going out of their way to make a statement.

Just being themselves. Didn't feel judgement for them, just felt happy for them.

My BF often hold my hand when we watch movies and when we have our meals sometimes we share dessert and a drink. I use to tell him that people will find it wierd to see two grown men sharing a hot fudge sundae... blatenly shameless...haha!

Posted

haha i think sharing food is fine. in fact i find that a really sweet thing to do. and since i do that with my guy friends as well, i dont see a reason to be worried about how other ppl will think.

well i guess if you do it 'indoors' or in a gay setting, it doesn't really count as Pda. what i am interested to hear is whether you guys can control the urge to showcase your affection for each other in public settings that render it - say when your bf says smtg really sweet, or when he gives you a nice present.

personally i agree that pda is unnecessary, and the as said by someone else here, "the feeling of closeness with each other sitting shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet" resonates with me as well. but i am curious to hear if you think the act of (1) holding hands, (2) kissing, and (3) any other forms of physical contact in public is acceptable and/or necessary.

Once, on one of our overseas trip, my bf accidentally punched me (pretty hardly) in the face when fooling around doing one of his stupid (yet amusing/adorable) antics. We were in the hotel lobby and immediately after realizing what he did, he hugged me from the back apologising and whisphering into my ear, "are you okay babe?". It was real sweet though I don't think he would have shown any such obvious form of PDA under normal circumstances.. haha must have been the guilt for punching me in the face. Of course it did attract stares.. but meh.

He said, "I don't want to get STOMPed!"

I think, "I don't care."

haha it's interesting to see how everyone's threshold seem to differ - some don't mind the unwanted attention, and view such acts as a form of appreciation; others believe in the deeper meaning of love and would keep such displays private.

as much as the differnt threshold are in place, what are your personal limits? i mean not everyone is as daring to kiss in public right? :D

Posted

to each his own i guess. i dont think there's a benchmark or criteria for a threshold limit. for a conservative auntie, 2 guys holding hands might be deemed immoral while to another more accepting liberal auntie, she might be even cool with 2 guys kissing each other. that said, i suppose everyone should be mindful of their own personal conduct. while one feels no particular need to give two hoot about others and that any interfering party are plain busybodies, he ought to consider the fact he is still afterall in a public place where everyone has a stake in it. while that fact remains, there is no such thing as "my own business".

It was a weekend night at Marina Square when I saw two very good-looking guys holding hands tightly walking past me. Both of them were manly and quite attractive. They seemed unperturbed by what others would say. I would think they were lovers without a doubt. I was stunned simply because I had never expected to witness such a scene in a place like Singapore where homosexual behaviours are still not well-accepted by the general public.

There was another occasion when I saw one guy leaned his head on another guy's shoulder in a MRT train cabin. Both were in their college age I assumed based on their attire but their behaviour was more subtle, although still gay to most people.

What I'm trying to say here is I was actually kind of impressed by their courage to act like all other straight couples in Singapore =)

I am curious if any of you also behave like that with your bf in Singapore public places.

In fact we should encourage more gays to pda , so that the public will

get so used to it and won’t get unhappy or uneasy

I never saw more men holding hands in a city then the guys in BSD The capital of Brunei.

Also the Brunei military the way they lean up against each other is amazing.

Of course these guys may not be gay but still fun to watch.

This reminds me last time when I was in poly. Long bus journey till interchange and I had a good buddy whom alight sane interchange as me. We always meet to go back together or go to poly together if our class timing can meet. I will always end up so tired after a long day class. At time, i dunno how but i always dozed off and head will fall on his shoulder and his head fall on my head. Just like that all the way to interchange. At that time, I never consider such behavior as gay.

Actually i hve seen twice of the same couple holding hands n kiss on the cheek in Sch.

A mly and chin gay couple. The chin guy(i presume the top) always carry his partner’s bag. They will hold hand throughout frm MRT till they hve to separate in sch. I knew cause i follow them throughout(im not stalking. Its just the common path for all students gg to sch). They would joke arnd and give each other the lovey stare every now and then. A small peck on each other cheek bef they separate. So sweet yet so daring.

Bt i gotta admit tht the chin guy is so cute and hot.

I ever saw a couple of times at orchard road of couples holding hands, its kinda sweet but for myself and my partner to be able to do that takes a lot of courage.

You never know who you will bump into and it will be worse if it is your family member or someone close.

I bumped into my sister a few times when i went dating with someone. Luckily, me and my date wasn't doing anything intimidate.

However, she talked to me randomly one day and said: "The friends you hang out with are always so handsome one?"  and i was like "No luh, they Handsome meh?" brushing it off.

My family knows nothing about me and i wish to keep it that way. So sadly, i can't do this in the public =(

A full forty years ago I was in Amsterdam and a teenager. I knew that Amsterdam was a special city and I had my eyes wide open to spot anything out of the ordinary. I was amply rewarded. I spotted two very handsome guys across the street walking hand in hand.

As a gay teenager in a homophobic household they were an inspiration to me that someday I too could lead a happy gay life.

That is why it is so important to me to express PDA with my boyfriend. Although, I admit on his home island he is paranoid. Which is strange to me since his family knows who I am and I go to family reunions.

Still, walking through the giant airports on our travels is fun.

Further, when children have sailed on board my vessel, they seem to think it natural that we sleep together.

Pathetic that in this one life most of us cannot have the liberty to kiss our partner or hold his hands affectionately in public.   Why do we allow public scrutiny to control our behaviors?  Sad  so sad which was why i die die must do that for at least once in my life.  Yeah i did it but in korea and the guy was only a sexual partner not bf.

How was that experience?

Kenna grumbled treated rudely at the market by some old grandmothers... luckily i really don't understand their language though their body language and tones were fiercely terrifying.  Maybe they thought we were koreans.

Long time i have see any guys holding hands in public. The only time i see guys holding hands is at pink dot.

I kissed my bf sometimes on the mrt escalator when he sends me off / I send him off. But we never hold hands though. Luckily, we have never been shouted at.

I remember when I was an NSF, I asked one of the regulars what would happen if two NSFs were seen holding hands within the camp premises.

The regular told me that it's a chargeable offence.

Just curious to know: Is there really an SAF directive that prohibits NSFs from holding hands in camp?

If I had a boyfriend, I would hold his hand in public, cos I tend to be quite affectionate  :P

But I would understand if he doesn't want it. Then maybe we can do it while seated on the bus where it's a bit more private, like in the picture below:

If holding hands feels a little awkward outside, maybe could try placing your arm on his shoulder or smth?
Looks more like bros so would attract less attention

Its what my ex n I used to do.
