Thanks for the update. But I don't understand the renovation part. You mean polis asked them to renovate if they want to reopen but need approval first? If no renovate, they need to close down?

i think "renovation" is just a "saying" to the public. there may be some actual happening behind. As far as i know, police will not commend on any building renovation, if this involve something like fire escape or any illegal building extension / renovation, that should be under the MBPP municipal's action

 

Monkey just open for business less that 6 months, everything is brand new and should be functioning well, it does not make any sense that the operator still dump money to do renovation in such short period

 

like sl39, I do hope monkey will overcome their problem and back to the market soon

That's the locker area of U2. I guess Monkey Fitness suffered the same fate too, hence why it suddenly stopped operating.

 

I guess people have started avoiding saunas because I'd guess for U2 Saturday nights would be packed with people. But they only arrested 13 people.

Cause kL got case I think alot of ppl alert so didn't go I myself also yesterday didn't go takut kena so lucky I 😂

I actually went yesterday 4pm like that, I didn't know it raided on Saturday but I went there and I ring the bell, no one there so I left. Oh fuck shit.

True, but police was just doing their job. Somebody must've made a report. Usually about unlicensed business, prostitution, illegal gambling, drugs, etc. That's why thosed detained were release later since no proof. That's what I can understand, at least

No, the police is not doing their job. The police is acting on behalf of the religion. The religious department has no power to conduct the raid without the authority of the police. It is also unlikely for someone to report the sauna since there are two raids going on simultaneously, one here and the other one in KL. Do not simply accuse among gay brothers so as this will only give advantage the real perpetrators.

Unlike in KL, the detainees in Penang will only be released on 5 Dec this Friday (despite the court rejected the remand). Do come and help in any way you can and show solidarity support to our brothers. The venue is at Balai Polis Seberang Jaya Tengah.

Our presence itself tells. Stick to the volunteers, you will notice them. Tell them you come to help. You may want to bail the guy out. No money is needed in that case unless he is charged for something else. You need to photocopy your I.C. front & back just in case it is required. 

 

Be mentally, emotionally and physically prepared. Understandably, the guy is scared, confused and distraught and need warmth and assurance. You may want to drive him for a meal, to his vehicle or back home. By giving, we learn first hand from the horses mouth. Both of you can be best of friends or even more ♥️ haha. Who else will come to our rescue when we're in trouble, right?

 

Also be prepared for rude and hostile encounters from the authority or haters who may be lurking around. Stick to the volunteers. 

 

Alright, tomorrow 5 Dec most likely around 10 am at Balai Polis Seberang Jaya Tengah. I will keep you posted on important updates ya. Thank you.

All the 13 detainees are basically bailed out. None are behind bars except for 2 because of late payment.  Unlike the raid in KL, there's no lawyer representing the detainees here and the police relentlessly press charges against them to meet their KPI. One case when a Chinese national was just peering into the sauna premise was "invited" inside by a plain clothe police only to be arrested. We are going to report and make public this case for the unlawful baiting by the authority.

 

Those who did not come as volunteer to help missed the opportunity to learn about the legal procedures and get to know some high calibre people. There are heart breaking scenes and we learn about how to handle them. One incident when a young detainee lowered his body to kiss my hand (a malay custom to show respect and humility) broke me down badly.

 

The money for bailing comes from NGOs, personal contribution and family members. Overall, it's a time well spent to help our people and an invaluable experience I never had before.
