This was a No. 1 song in 1992.

Love this tune! :)

Here's this week's new Single Releases in the UK,

doesn't look any bit exciting to me at all...

  • Beardyman - Oh!
  • The Big Pink - Hit The Ground
  • Leonard Cohen - The Darkness
  • Davinche FT Sophie Soph - Jay-Z Money
  • DJ Shadow - Scale It Back
  • Hoodlums - Dark Horses
  • L-VIS 1990 - Tonight
  • Lil' Wayne FT Bruno Mars - Mirror
  • Metallica - Beyond Magnetic EP
  • Youngman - Who Knows

With Gotye & Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know climbing steadily,

and being the biggest gainer this week (36-21-7),

I wonder if it will peak at #1 this weekend...

Duran Duran. Who's your favourite member of the group btw? For me, it's always Roger Taylor, remember which one is he?

Yes...I like Roger most. He's the quietest. Funny how there are 3 Taylors in the group and they are not related. I quite like Andy Taylor too. Not sure if Kajagoogoo was mentioned before. But Nick Rhodes' Too Shy is memorable.

Oh...and there's Duranduran's Skin Trade. My friends and I thought he sounded like Prince.

The mid-week Singles Chart sees a new #1 by a young Canadian singer Alyssa Reid,

sampling on the lyrics and music of a 25-year-old song by the Heart, "Alone" with added lyrics and rap segments not found in its original version.

This song was the top selling, highest charting,

and most spun single by a Canadian artist at Canadian radio in 2011 too!

#1 (new) Alone Again Feat. Jump Smokers - Alyssa Reid

#2 (non-mover) Titanium Feat. Sia - David Guetta

#3 (non-mover) Domino - Jessie J

#4 (faller) Twilight - Cover Drive

#5 (non-mover) Wild Ones Feat. Sia - Flo Rida

No number 1 for Alyssa Reid after all,

instead French DJ/producer David Guetta euphoric club smash Titanium overtook Alyssa Reid’s Alone Again by more than 9,000 copies to become the UK’s Official Number 1 single of the week and it's also the fifth UK #1 single of the world famous DJ’s career.

#3 (climber) Somebody That I Used To Know Feat. Kimbra - Gotye

Simon Cowell (does this man need further introduction?)

Look out for some exciting highlights of the show in the weeks to come. :)

Following the success of his #1 single

last July,

here's the follow-up and a contender for next week's #1,

Hot Right Now Feat. Rita Ora - DJ Fresh

Let's see if the interests in Whitney Houston's tracks will give her a posthumous #1,

and the fore-runners in the current UK iTune Singles chart are:-

#15 I Wanna Dance With Somebody

#19 I Will Always Love You

Here's the mid-week rankings...

#1 (new) Hot Right Now Feat. Rita Ora - Dj Fresh

#2 (new) Next To Me - Emeli Sande

#3 (faller) Somebody That I Used To Know Feat. Kimbra - Gotye

#4 (faller) Titanium Feat. Sia - David Guetta

#5 (faller) Wild Ones Feat. Sia- Flo Rida

What's interesting to note is not the number of Whitney Houston's tracks that have made it into the Top 40 singles chart,

but the absence of Madonna's new single that made it's debut at #37 just over the weekend!!!

If this doesn't go any higher, it will be Madonna's weakest debut single from a new album and all remains to be seen indeed!

Meanwhile back to Whitney and here's how she fared on midweek sales...

#10 I Will Always Love You

#14 I Wanna Dance With Somebody

#29 One Moment In Time

#30 My Love Is Your Love

#34 I Have Nothing

#2 (new) Next To Me - Emeli Sande

#3 (faller) Somebody That I Used To Know Feat. Kimbra - Gotye

#5 (climber) Wild Ones Feat. Sia- Flo Rida

Madonna has dropped to #51 on its second week of official release!!!

Her saving grace could be her 12th studio album that's due to be released on March 26...

4039-madonna_mdna_album_artwork.jpg

What's interesting to note is not the number of Whitney Houston's tracks that have made it into the Top 40 singles chart,

but the absence of Madonna's new single that made it's debut at #37 just over the weekend!!!

If this doesn't go any higher, it will be Madonna's weakest debut single from a new album and all remains to be seen indeed!

23 individual Whitney tracks pepper today’s Official Singles Chart Top 200, three of which feature in the Top 40, and a whole 13% of tracks in the Top 100 feature the late singer. Perhaps predictably led by Whitney’s smash hit cover of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You, which spent 10 weeks at Number 1 upon its release 20 years ago this year, and went on to become the biggest selling single of 1992. The track has led the way all throughout the week, landing at Number 14 in today’s final tally.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody which spent two weeks in the Number 1 spot upon its release in 1987, re-enters the chart at Number 20, with One Moment In Time (40) completing the Top 40.

With two albums re-entering the Official Albums Chart Top 40 today, the late singer’s Greatest Hits album breaks all the way into the Official Albums Chart Top 10, taking up position at Number 7, with The Essential Whitney Houston also making an appearance at Number 40.

Official Charts Company managing director, Martin Talbot, comments, “The tragic death of Whitney Houston came as a shock to her friends, colleagues and music fans across the world. Again, the British public is demonstrating its love of Whitney, just as it did for Amy Winehouse last year and Michael Jackson in 2009.”

Not only have sales of Whitney’s singles and albums rocketed, her 1992 film The Bodyguard makes a re-entry today on the Official Video Chart. According to today’s Official Charts Company sales data, The Bodyguard is at Number 9 in the Official Video Chart – the industry chart which compiles UK sales data of all video products including DVD, Blu Ray, HD DVD among a range of other formats.

Several of Whitney Houston’s songs which feature on The Bodyguard Original Soundtrack have also re-entered the Official Singles Chart Top 100 this weekend. According to today’s sales data, in addition to the film’s lead single I Will Always Love You as previously mentioned is Top 20, I Have Nothing is at Number 44, while Run To You is at 67.

Meanwhile back to Whitney and here's how she fared on midweek sales...

#10 I Will Always Love You

#14 I Wanna Dance With Somebody

#29 One Moment In Time

#30 My Love Is Your Love

#34 I Have Nothing

Let's see if this follow-up that's released this week, will fair any better...
