Many have stepped out of the closet despite going against the staunch muslims and society who are either true to their faith and/or addhering to the society's stand on homosexuality.Being gay and muslim is like living in two separate worlds. (Well, at least to me.) I frankly strive to be a good muslim whilst on the flipside, i have tendencies for ppl of my same sex. I, personally am in a dilemma. Having grown up and sent to madradahs and religuous classes, i am rooted to the islamic principles but i cannot shrug my feelings for men.Turning to the muslim society stand on homosexuality, there are strong oppositions against us. I firmly believe that the muslim society should take a nonchalant approach to this issue. Having been and read numerous articles on this issue, i can confidently conclude that: "It is not the duty of a muslim individual to discriminate nor pass judgment on another muslim. It shall be the task of the Almighty.". I understand that muslims are forbidden to either discriminate nor support homosexuality.I think the recent campaign against homosexuality spearheaded by muslim and christian groups serves no apparent purpose except to discriminate the LGBT faction and consequently, sending a signal to the LGBT group that we are not humans, hence undeserving of any civil liberties accorded by the constitution.I firmly believe that the recent Court of Appeal judgment on Section 377A has sealed our fate. Nonetheless, the law is consistently changing and as we progress forward, i think that the legal perspective on this issue would develop as well. I do not wish to elaborate further on the Court of Appeal judgment as im afraid that further elaboration would be a contempt of court. I shall end here and to my muslim/malay friends, do not despair for the law is constantly evolving consistent to the change in society. shyboi 1 Quote
