Guest Guest
Right in the beginning I predicted it won't do well. Why should people want to spend the kind of money to watch vessels and container ports? Besides there are other skyscrapers around to view all these for free. Guest Guest
I suppose it the novelty of it but to price it at $32.50 per person... from what I understand, no sane local will think it is worth the money. Will you spend $32.50 just to be TRAPPED in a glass capsule going one round of it when as what you say that view can be seen from any of the windows of our high rise building and not to say those high rise apartments that faces the sea like those in Marine Parade that view is second nature to them. Well, it's for the tourist, I suppose and really how many of those tourist will also want to spend that type of monies. I recall when they first started there was that one big hoo haa of it being a success story and now, what? The high cost of business kills them and I suppose now only the metal scrap brokers are the only one that is busy for like vultures the carcass is about ready for dinner. In Tibet it is called sky burial.

Guest Guest
What does under receivership mean?
Guest Guest
What does under receivership mean? A type of corporate bankruptcy in which a receiver is appointed by bankruptcy courts or creditors to run the company. The receiver may be appointed by a bankruptcy court, as a matter of private proceedings, or by a governing body. In most cases the receiver is given ultimate decision-making powers and has full discretion in deciding how the received assets will be managed. The primary responsibility of the receiver is to recoup as much of the unpaid loans as possible. Being in receivership is not an enviable situation for any company. Oftentimes, receivers find that the best way to pay back loans is to liquidate the company's assets, which effectively puts the company out of business, as its assets are sold at deep discounts in order to recoup some of the monies owed. Guest guest
Just go around and ask exactly how many Singaporean and PR had ride in the Flyer? And even those who had ride for novelty sake, how many would go for repeated ride? The ride is SO expensive and the sales & marketing people there just ignore this fact that most locals couldn't afford it.They should have concession rides for citizens for say, half price on weekdays and surely many would go for it.The lack of local participation and the high admission price surely killed the Flyer.Hopefully the new management don't make the same mistake

Singapore flyer is too remote compared to MBS. But before MBS, it was one of the best choice to enjoy the city skyline. I actually brought everyone come to Singapore to the Flyer...hehe

abang
I went there in Sep 2011 because it was given FOC for those working in the education industry. It was not one of the pleasant 28 mins in my life. The view was not anything spectacular, considering that most of us live in high-rise apartments. There was a lack of video or audio explanation of the buildings around the bay - which at that time, the Gardens were still under construction. Guest Marvel
The other problem for the Flyer is the transport issue. There is no direct MRT line or bus stop to the Flyer! Guest Guest
New biz plan for Poor Flyer:1. Turn the big giant wheel into an LED advertisement board. If someone owes you money, can flash '$%&^$% owe $$$$$ pay $$$$$'. Sure get money back in 24 hrs.2. Ppl get to bungee jump from the wheel, all at the same time. Attach microphone & camera to hear them 'cry father & mother' in THX surround sound.3. Turn the wheel into a huge watermill at night by installing giant water guns in each carriage for guests to shoot at each other. No need to go to Thailand for Songkran.4. Turn it into a love motel(can rent for 28 mins) with waterbed in each capsule. Experience lovemaking high up. No need to go East Coast or Lim Chu Kang anymore.5. Wknd foam party.6. Do a reality show by putting local celebrities up there & vote them off one by one by throwing them off into the bay.7. New ICT or RT venue.8. Turn it into another casino by installing slot machine & black jack table in each carriage.9. Work with Branson to launch & spin the wheel into the earth orbit & back.10. Make it into a Giant 'Share Di Zi' (sorri my pin yin sucks) or a bloody guillitone to defend our country against ET.11. Pitch to Ang Lee to film 'Life of Pi II' by making the tiger(gay) leaps from carriage to carriage to chase after Kumar.12. Hold BW annual D&D 2013 up there. Guest Fuck up
Singapore has many white elephants for show. This big wheel thingy is just a specimen approved by the govt to make Singapore "look good" across the skyline. The other cosmetic structure is the double-durian sitting next to suntec. Sentosa cove is also nothing special. So far, merlion is the only Singapore timeless product worth every tangible and intangible value for its presence. I think, more tourists paid visit to Haw Par Villa than the Singapore Flyer.

Enelym1978
I took some of my visiting friends there. Once. After experiencing it I just tell them it's not worth it. And they are selling champagne dinner.... Who on earth would do that? After the novelty of the first minute or two, it's just a nightmarish long ride... Painfully slow. And you just think "shit I've just wasted $$$". It's meant for tourists more than locals I think. Same for the London Eye. But it's way too expensive. Going there is not easy ether. Promenade is fine but you still need to walk through "the middle of nowhere". So unattractive for tourists. As said earlier, you're better off having a drink a Ku De Ta (so that you don't have to pay to go up there, might as well just pay for a (overpriced) drink and enjoy the view while sipping on a drink. Sky on 57 is free too if you're going for a drink and to my opinion, has a better "full frontal" view of the CBD. The bar on top of Swissotel Stamford is also quite nice. Free as well if you get a drink. 1-Altitude is also kinda expensive but you get a drink and a 360 degrees view of Singapore.
