The management knows what’s going on - this is why they turn up the heat in the steam room and the sauna until it is so high that no one can stay in there for more than a few minutes. Unless you are there to use the spa legitimately, please don’t waste your time. The management will not tolerate any hanky panky as they may lose their licence to operate

Ya sia. They are walking in and out so regularly. I guess the horny guys can do shit but They do have ‘look out’. Like a pro sia.

Soda pool is down. Under maintenance.
Surprisingly weekday night can be pretty crowded. Sat quite close to each other in the bubble pool. My hand unintentionally touched the guy next to me. We both gave each other a blank look & smile. Think it's unavoidable. Cool...
Saw few eye candies. Nice bod, nice tanline...
There was once a guy rubbed me in the pool. I returned him a favour but stop immediately after I realise he's with c-ring on. What happen if I con't? Scared he grab & poke me. Haha...
The steam room is hot. Cannot tahan stay inside for too long.

So last week I posted a very detailed field trip to KeyBox; actually, before KeyBox, I visited Yunomori Onsen and was very horned up by all the men I’ve seen there and decided to get some real action at a gay spa instead (yup 2 saunas in a day lol) . Hence, I did not write about my experience at Yunomori.

Perhaps let me start off by helping some of the newbies here, who have never been to an onsen. I see a lot of brothers asking what to do there and how to conduct themselves, actually if you just google, there’s a lot of info about dos and don’ts at onsens. But I’m happy to give you a hyper-local lowdown of what to do at Yunomori.

Today was my second time at Yunomori. I must say I love this “onsen”. It a bit of a misnomer, really; we have no hot spring here… so yea, it’s not a legit onsen. But damn, the place is pretty huge and there are 6 different kinds of baths to choose from. I say it’s pretty impressive for Singapore.

Onsen is a Japanese concept, the real onsen has sulphuric water from hot springs/mountains and it contains healing properties. Here, it’s really just water with temperature, carbonated and I’m pretty sure there’s chlorine. Looking back, my first time at an onsen was at a ryokan at the foot of Mount Fuji as a teenager and ever since then I fell in love with the whole experience, it was unforgettable. Over the years, if I cannot afford to travel to Japan, the nearest would be Taiwan and Villa 32 is a gorgeous hot spring venue that I highly recommend.

What I like about the onsen experience apart from the hot spring water, is the communal aspect. It’s about men being men, it’s a very ritualistic and even spiritual experience that redefines our usual concept of western masculinity. In Japan, this is a ritual man - gay or straight - would go through together and bond. For most Singaporeans, the closest thing to being together with a group of naked men would be in the army. But I feel that has a completely different context, because there is first, camaraderie and all are forged together with a simple mission. At an onsen, you are being naked in front of strangers and in the traditional Japanese sense, it is experiencing masculinity without the bravado at western locker rooms or SG army camps, and there is a silent code of respect about a brotherhood of strangers. You may be naked but you are not there to flaunt your sexuality or asset and no one is sexualised. So perhaps this context would give some newbies here (I assume mostly gay) a better understanding of how to conduct yourself in an onsen. Most times, an effeminate gay may feel highly uncomfortable in the presence of such intense masculinity but I guarantee you that in Japan, nobody would make you feel slighted.

Here in Singapore… I don’t know hahaha, but from my two visits to Yunomori, I must say most Singaporean men at Yunomori are good at the onsen decorum. Firstly, when you arrive, just put your shoes in the locker and pay the entrance fee. Go into the male locker room, walk past the staff and get your big and small towel. Big towel for the showering of course and the small towel gives you that modicum of modesty to cover your jewels (I generally don’t care). Next, just head to your locker, get butt naked, lock up your valuables and you can make a beeline to the shower area. Please wash thoroughly, I would generally splash water on the stool first before I sit on it. Scrub yourself clean because we are all sharing the pool. After that, you are ready for the baths!

Before entering the baths, there’s a small pail that’s for you to wash your feet with the water from the bath pool, also a good way for you to test the temperature before getting a rude shock when you step in. I personally like the onsen bath, it’s really hot, I know it’s not real hot spring water but it’s the next best thing with water technology, so yea… I love soaking there with the towel on my head. About that small towel, please never ever put it in the bath water, that is an unclean act. The rest of the baths are pretty good, I like the soda and bubble bath, it does make my skin feel smoother after prolonged soaking there. The silk bath was ok although half the time it looks more like bird’s nest or cum filled water to me, not the most enticing thought. If you are a sporty guy who works out or do a lot of sports, the cold bath is the best thing for you. It’s very challengingly cold, but trust me, good for tired muscles. Get hydrated often because your body temperature is raised very quickly in these hot baths and you’ll lose body fluids quickly through sweating and you don’t want to get too giddy lol. I would suggest drinking lots of water and a lot of mildly cold showers - I do that a lot at the shower area, just squatting there and letting the cold water running through my head, face and body after a hot soak is really divine to me. I’m never really a fan of the sauna but I must say it is spacious for Singapore’s standard, I prefer the steam room and most of the time, it is hot and steamy - the gay saunas should really have this standard.

Now I’m sure if you have all the way to this paragraph, you might be wondering if there’s any salacious details to my experience at Yunomori, and the answer is an unequivocal yes.

Firstly, I need to clarify that I went to Yunomori onsen because I really wanted to relax and find out how good it is. So my conclusion is, their facilities and service will definitely give other joints such as Gspa a run for their money, the standard is there. Secondly, I will not pretend I’m a saint and I was also genuinely curious about all the clandestine activities at this premise. Having said that, let me be upfront that I’m a married bisexual, I totally understand the dichotomies and I am always respectful to the environment and context I’m in before I let loose my other side. I want to say this because I have a fetish for public jo - not an exhibitionist but I absolutely love the thrill of a public wank with calculated risk taking (I have a close buddy who does this with me on a semi-regular basis). So having said that, I will not reject or frown at guys wanking here because who am I to judge? But my stance is - I will not initiate and threaten the equilibrium at a primarily straight joint, if someone comes at me, I will definitely play along - at calculated risk. I’m no ChargingBull - and by the way, I’m always quite entertained at his nonsensical and hyperbolic writing style - but what he usually described, turned out to be true at my second visit.

The first thing you will notice at Yunomori Onsen is that there is a big gay crowd, like it or not. Taking my second visit as a testimonial, I visited the onsen at 9pm, 2 hours before closing time, there was a good crowd of at least 30 men. I would say 30-35% of them are gay, the 5% I can’t really gauge 100%. Some are very obvious, the aura screams gay from the exquisitely trimmed eyebrows, waxed genitals, overly muscular bodies, incessant furtive glances, walking in and out of sauna and steam room to check out the crowd, sitting around doing nothing but head-turning whenever a hot guy walks by. I think they must be really rich, to spend this amount of money and not really soaking… LOL. Nonetheless, they are all eye candies, in contrast to my experience at a gay sauna such as KeyBox, I actually think the quality of men here is way better. Adding to the fact that, the other 60% are straight (or bi like me), just adds to the thrill.

In my first visit, it was on a Saturday afternoon, and I spent a good 4 hours there because I had to wait for my massage session (it was done by a Thai lady, no HE and I did not give any signals). That afternoon, there were kids around with their dads, so obviously, everything was really normal. In today’s second visit at 9pm, that’s when I realised the crowd is different. I have witnessed guys wanking at shower areas. Gawd, they really squat there for a very long time, I saw one guy, who is actually not bad looking and had a decent bod. He was fondling himself while checking out the guy who was sitting beside him. I did wonder, if the other guy was straight or gay, if it was the former, he would be horrified.

The steam room has a left corner, which is a pretty snug corner hidden away from view at the front door. I suspect a lot of “works” happen here. During the first hour that I was using the steam room, I noticed one stocky guy who was particularly daring. I have a hunch that he has an exhibitionist streak and probably not straight. Through the foggy steam, I could see him wanking through his small towel, there were two guys sitting beside him. From my observation, they could not be 100% straight because they glanced his way and quietly watched. From time to time, at certain periods, up to 7 or 8 guys would be sitting side by side in the steam room, mostly on the left side towards the “famous corner”. I really have to say this… that most of them, are really not straight. The guys I presumed are straight, came in pairs, like with a chummy buddy, mostly soaking and chatting, or much older and they don’t hang around the steam room at regular frequencies.

As the night went deeper and inching towards closing time, I see the same faces going in and out of the steam room more often. I have a feeling that I’m going to witness something at this visit and I’m placing all my bets on that stocky beefy short exhibitionist guy to make magic happen. So true enough, 20 mins before closing time, I saw the short beefy guy in the steam room, by this time, the steam has mostly stopped and you will see things more clearly. I thought my eyes were bluffing me when I saw “shaking motions” while he was butt naked standing, facing towards that famous corner. I boldly walked in and true enough, 5 guys were wanking there. Two faces CMI, the other three including the short stocky guy were fine. One of them has a huge dick, I dare say at least 7.5 inches and unusually thick! All came within the next 5 mins… it was very surreal to me because while I was curious, I really didn’t expect it to be a group thing I will witness for a first act! Haha!

Well, so much for my cultivated nurturing of Japanese onsen brotherhood. Today’s experience has added more depth, shades and colours to my purist views of an onsen LOL. Before I sign off, I want you guys to know some insider information. That the management is completely cognizant of these activities and as of my writing now, two men were caught before and banned for life. They also will not hesitate to report you to the police apart from the lifetime ban. Laws are laws and even in my own outdoor JO experiences, you need to know how to skirt them, eg. my buddy and I will try our best not to do it at dead spots because you can’t run and escape. Be very aware that you are really committing a crime if you engage in such activities because, in the heat of things, you do really feel you are in a gay spa but no, this is not a gay spa.

Will I visit Yunomori Onsen again? I think yes, I really love the baths and the clean facilities. It’s pricey, considering it’s fake onsen but it’s the next best thing, plus lots of hot bods and dicks to see, I’m not complaining. Will I sit around waiting for “activities” to happen? No. But it was fun (why would it not be?). I won’t get on the moral high horse and start condemning. I think in the gay community, there exist subsets of gay culture and part of it is exhibitionism - the extremities would of course vary. Lots of straight guys hold up their mobile phones to watch porn and jerk off at public toilets, are they also giving straight men a bad name? I’m just extrapolating but you get the drift.

As the army has taught us well - be there but not be seen, you don’t have to be first, but also don’t be the last.
