Straight Hotel guests will complain if too many obviously gay guys approach innocent straight guys visiting the spa and jacuzzi area in such hotels. The same happened with the Doubletree in JB. Most non-locals would go into other areas around Monas, or better to say the stretch between Sarinah to Senayan. But Jakarta is so huge. I never took any hotel at the very northern side like Kelapa Gading because you are far off from the city center, unless you travel to one of the islands north of Jakarta (as the harbour is nearer). Not sure what are lifestyle establishments but you can visit Kota Tua (the Jakarta old city) it has newer outlets (coffee shops, restaurants etc), There is a huge shopping area like MBK center in Bangkok called Pasar Baru. Kota Tua should be 30 - 40 mins by cab, Pasar Baru around 15 - 20 mins. Going to the hot spots more in the central from Kelapa Gading can take up to 1 hour by cab. If you aren't the true risk taker, would be careful going any parks at night. I am sure, even in the most far out placed remote hotel in Jakarta you will find sufficient new friends to play, massage boys through the apps, ... Quote
