Hey -Ignored-...went to Tokyo, Kyoto...did all most of the temple visits...was hoping that the Fall colours were out...but guess not....and because of the typhoon in the area, we experience a few more days of wet weather than normal... but overall it was a good trip...

Kyoto is beautiful but will be a great bonus going at Falls

now is never the falls, however good thing is the queue and crowd will be shorter (to the castle and temples)
after Halloween, u will start to see the autumn colours (although some places have started)

Tokyo has a lot of ginkgo (Japanese: icho) trees, which could be very beautiful for your viewing if u visit at end nov - mid Dec

and I highly recommend NOT to go Taiwan, the Philippines , jp at this period. after mid-Oct, daijoubu desu!

Are you suggesting not to travel to TW, philipines or Japan from mid Oct onwards? What is the reason if I may know ?

I have a plan to travel to Hokaido and Tokyo end of december actually. So wanna understand more from you why tou do not recommend travel to japan after mid oct.

He meant not to travel to these places 'this period' i.e. up to mid-October. It is because typhoons can happen even up to end-October. To be safe, travel from early Nov onwards...so your plans are ok. ;)

I didn't use very chim Japanese language and I tend to read charts like these : owari means the foliage is dying off
mada: means not yet turned

Dear massage fan:

as this is not an info counter for geological or weather items: moderators will penalise us for not following the theme

didn't u hear/read news abt the recent tsunami in korea? and there is a typhoon approaching the Philippines, (every year is about the same situation due to geological reasons) , I rem was it Taiwan or jp also faced flood too this year at sep-oct timing (but many still insist of going aroun this period even though it didn't affect japan, I dislike travelling when other ctries are crying/dying/having funerals, it is very rude! there was once Kyushu having earthquake, was it last year? but people continue to show how glamourous they are in Tokyo, there is no compassion, I posted back by saying aren't  u going over to help?  if  u cannot help, be quiet and keep it low.....not splash photos on how u enjoyed good food while others r dying)

I shall not paste the info here as it is spread over fb and all newspp & tabloids

so long u r after mid oct it is daijoubu it means ok...... (I specifically wrote "after", and due to human doings, weather has become terrible, so don't ever blame me for bad forecasting, I m not  geologist) Japan info, I dare to share...

There are many jp experts around too, but ...........

Will be travelling to tokyo and kyoto soon. Got a couple of question. Ill arrive at 10pm or so. Thinking of going straight to 24 kaikan shinjuku. Where is the best place to store my luggage? Airport? Train station or at the sauna? I understand i can sleep overnight in kaikan. Any idea the price to stay overnight? How about private room? Ill be there on friday night. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

It's 2,500-2,900 yen overnight and >5,000 yen for a private room. See here: http://www.juno.dti.ne.jp/~kazuo24/shinjyuku/koshitu.htm

Not sure how much luggage you have, but suggest you consider storing it in a coin locker at a nearby train station.

Can also consider checking out Hokuoukan in Osaka.
