oh! I saw that fb ads weeks ago and actually booked an appointment. turned out it was good. the scaling & polishing is done by hygienist. a rather gentle guy name Joel or Noel or something like that. did a good job at cleaning my teeth. only $20 nett and no hard selling. lucky my teeth was all good otherwise I can see a dentist there and then with free consultation. forget about Q&M they are good at hard selling and can be quite intimidating.  visited once and never go back to the same clinic.  not sure all branches are line that or only certain doctor behaved like salesman

real or not? $20? hard to believe, especially their location is at paragon. I think they use $20 to lure people to do scaling, and then they will find some problems with the teeth eg, needs filling, yellow, etc.

Q&M is just a place where they rent out their clinics to the various doctors & dentists. I have also been ripped off by them before. However, the latest one I encountered is quite good. May not be the cheapest, but it is the best & most convenient I have had so far. $90 for scaling & polishing.

regarding the $20 SAP. I did asked them.  it's they 10th years anniversary promo. they hv 2 locations 1 at Paragon another at CBD. haha I think if u go for SAP u shd be happy that dentist discover your dental issue. is not that's the reason we go? to hv our teeth clean and see any problems we hv before it's too late. what I like about them is no hard sell. the hygienist said I hv good oral hygiene. I think their standard SAP price is not crazy high. you can check their website for prices. at least they do list it out.

[Guest Thailand dental treatments]

Had sharp pain in one of my tooth a year ago, went to Q&M as it was quite painful.

Did an X-ray, found that the root was infected, and a root canal (starting from $600) was necessary.

As I have previously had a root canal done in Bangkok for $240, I did not want to do it in Singapore.

The dentist  gave me pain killers instead. Total bill for the x-ray and painkillers - $99!!!

They added $10 for surgical equipment like gloves, which is added for every patient.

 

Anyway, went to Bangkok and had my root canal done for around $240.

i told the staff there that my x-ray for that one tooth was $35 in Singapore.

They told me that, for $35, they could x-ray the entire mouth there! 

 

So here's my recommendation: if your dental is not covered by your company's insurance,

do your dental treatments in Bangkok, if you are going Bangkok anyway. 

There are a few opposit MBK on the Siam Square side, but most shopping Malls there will have.

I had bad experiences at qm too.

 

Instead of extracting immediately, the dentist recommended unnecessarily treatments to make money. Eg i spent 220 where i could just spent 80.

root canal at q & m only quoted you $600? hard to believe. Maybe they have not added +++. From what i know, root canal in singapore usually cost $1000 and above. But you are right that bangkok dental services are very value for money. Next time you can try chulalongkorn university hospital. It is cheaper than private ones in MBK.

I heard it's very expensive. Can cost a few thousand dollars.

just went for my scaling and polishing at KTPH today. so far so good. SGD60 only. same day booking of appointment. from12am to 5pm. I sms exactly after 12am and choose the available slot. got free shuttle bus to/from yishun mrt to KTPH. the doctor is friendly. environment there is beautiful with the garden and rainforest theme. got waterfall and fish pond there too. very relaxing.

Dr Benjamin at Raffles Dental quite good imo. Raffles isn’t the most affordable but the charges is rather reasonable for the service!

[Guest Need advice]

I have a toothache and I went to the dentist to have it checked.

The diagnosis is that I need a root canal treatment because the cavity has reached the pulp of my tooth.

He said the treatment would cost SG$800.

I'm going to another dentist for a second opinion just to be sure.

 

I'm not local and I/my company don't have a dental insurance.

If ever I really do need to have a root canal and the cost would be around the same as the first dentist quoted me, it would be great if someone could recommend a reliable and cheaper alternative.

Either here in SG or in Malaysia.

 

I've read about the recommendations in Bangkok but I don't have the time/resources to go there for a few days/weeks.

If a root canal plus crown is needed, there is no better alternative.

 

But there is a good alternative to dentists and most of their care.  This is the preventive care.

 

Frequent "cleanings" and "x-rays" are mainly a source of income for the dentists.

I have a 6+ years experience with my late bf and myself of what I would call the best preventive maintenance.  This is called "oil pulling" (this strange name probably comes from coconut oil pulling the harmful bacteria and other germs from the tissues of the teeth and gums into itself, and taking them away when the oil is spit out. 

 

To do "oil pulling" a couple of times a week, take a spoon of coconut oil into the mouth and swash it between the teeth for 5+ minutes,  then spit it out into the trash. This removes the harmful germs.  It is not only preventive but also curative, like my late bf did experience.  We got this tip from the assistant to our dentist when he determined that he had to pull out a deep molar from my friend's jaw due to an unreachable cavity.  And the assistant she felt sorry for him and revealed the tip. As a result, my bf never had to have the molar removed, the cavity went away.  NO WONDER dentists don't advertise this preventive care!

 

I have been doing this "oil pulling for over 6 years and this stopped all my problems with cavities, infections.  I don't even go to "cleaning" nor "x-rays" anymore, since I take good care myself by brushing and using a water pick.  I went back to the dentist a couple of times for mechanical problems, like crowns who got lose and needed to be re-glued.  He treats me with respect and understands that I am a smart guy

Asking around the price to Extract a wisdom tooth , it is around $300-$500. If I hv 2 to extract, the price is $500 ++. Only surgery then can use Medisave.

 

Why so expensive!!!!
