My step son is currently undergoing braces which are being looked after by a JB orthadontist. We are very satisfied with the service and the cost is about a third of what it is here.( ie. about $3000 compared to $10,000 in Singapore). We are paying in installments. $300RM every one month visit. You could go just for a consultation and make up your own mind. They are located at Holiday Plaza (top floor) which close to KSL. Still much cheaper and it is just across the causeway.Yes, I agree with you. I am a North American expat so my expectations are very high with regards to quality of service and quality of what goes into my teeth. I use a dentist at Holiday Plaza, Roland Lim. Roland Dental 07-3311858. I have been very happy with the quality of work he has done over the passed 8 yrs. I get my teeth regularly cleaned and I have also had crown work done which i was very pleased with. My step-son also got braces done at this dental office and we are happy to share that once again, the experience was very positive. Quote

I went last year to extract a wisdom that had decayed so badly and causing me pain. The dentist that handled me was very warm, nice, friendly. Extraction was a breeze. Anderson Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Cracked tooth not necessary to be extracted, it depend on extend of the crack and whether the roots are still firm and healthy. The dentist need to do a thorough check on the tooth first.Recently, a friend had a cracked molar tooth, the dentist decided that he need to cut the tooth, do a root canal and porcelain crowning instead, costing about $1200, less than half of total implant cost. Quote
Wafflecorn Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Here is the cost in SG: https://www.moh.gov.sg/content/moh_web/home/costs_and_financing/Dental_Fee_Info.html But do note that implants are not only expensive, they are also kinda hard to maintain, and it may involves more than 2 visit to do it. ( You need to take impression, put in abutment, wait for the bones to heal around the abutment. etc.). So it is not advisable to go all the way to Thailand to do it because it means that you probably have to fly there regularly, which in the end might end up costing you more. Malaysia might be a good option instead. Also, you need to have enough bone for the implant to sit, meaning you must probably must not have an active case of periodontitis, where bone is lost. Bone graft might be done to replace the lost bone, but that is another cost as well. But, you could bring out to your dentist that you do not wish to extract the teeth and ask him or her to give you other options like what the other guys have mentioned and you are allowed to have time to think and consider on your own before making the choice because it is your own oral health, not theirs . Guest PureSingaporean Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 After reading so much positive review on Dr Roland at holiday inn JB, I made an appt for my annual teeth scaling and polishing. I have relatively good teeth, except some cracks due to my night grinding.First, I am not v sure if all the equipments are properly sterilised. I notice the tools were readily placed back with a lot of other tools which were not used on me. (It's been a month and I have no infection of any sort). Secondly, the sink where I gargle my teeth was GROSS! There was so much residue, it looked like someone had a mouthful of food and gargle there. After the first gargle, I just couldn't bare to open my eyes the second and third round when I gargle! The Dentist failed to update me on my teeth condition. I won't be back ! I will rather pay a little more for heartland dental and risk any infection (if simple thing like the sink is so dirty, I am highly skeptical of the hygiene level of the clinic). Perhaps I may travel slightly further to more advance city like KL or BBK should my teeth need major work. Take it as a holiday cum dental session, and maybe get a few botox jabs along the way too Quote

Guest Kohnny Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Pls u guys do not know about jb dental infection control standards! Very unhygienic! Cut my tongue when filling! Never see new instruments in pouch! Sink all dirty with blood stain and lipstick on cup!!!! Poor infection control! Anyone have visited lim dental in holiday plaza. Last month was the scariest encounter in my life. The dentist cut my tongue accidently with the filling device, when i washed my mouth at the basin i realised the sputum was full of dirty debris and blood left. And the disposable cup has lipstick on it they didnt change as i saw the previous patient was a lady! This really let me doubt their infection control! Do you all notice the dentist changed new instruments and open new bag of tools after every paient? i realise always when i go to the dentist lie on the chair , the dentist will start to put tools into my mouth , realised that the tools are there and then on the tray already. I went to polyclinic however i saw the dentist take out a bag of tools before using it . i been to 3 to 4 times never once seen them open a new bag of tools . I wonder did they really sterilised them . How about their handpiece do they sterilised them cos always notice every time patient go in and out very fast. Pretty worried Quote
