Guys,

I am thinking of going for teeth whitening. Have anyone tried this? My dentist quoted 600 bucks per hour and need at least 2-3 visits which is kinda expensive for me. The price you pay to look good I guess. sigh.

Please share your experience and thoughts, ok?

I thought there are lots of cream and medication over the counter for teeth whitening.

Are they not effective?

Heard can damage the gum if left for too long.

I paid 900 dollars for mine, around 1 hour with each application lasting 20 minutes.

The number of visits depends on how many shades lighter you need your teeth to be.

Are you happy with the result?

using laser and get instant result will not last long price about 1k. u see nice shining teeth today, 1 week later stain will come back. i am using DIY home bleaching as and when stain come back i bleech again.u need a bleech tray . a tray is a very soft thin plastic giving it a comfortable and precise fit.usually i will buy the bleech fromm bbk dental shop is cheaper as for tray it need a day or 2 to be ready if u want to get it fix at bbk. In singapore tray and Diy bleech cost about 500 .And dun waste money on those cream or medication on the shelf . it will never works. just wasting yr money. even u use 10 tubes teeth will never be white.

for more permanent solution, my dentist recommended crowning on the 6 front teeth! at 600 a pop.....the sound of the grinder on my tooth was scary enough.

Posted

I am going for the more permenant solution. Am in the process of crowning 5 teeth on the top row. The dentist recommended me to use the home whitening kit for the rest if the new crowns are whiter than the other teeth.

The other option was, like you said, crown the whole front row. It was going to cost a bit more compared to the first option.

I did laser to whiten the bottom row so they will match the new crowns.

The downside was I had to avoid anything that stains for a day. (sauces, sodas, and basically everything else)

Oh yea, if you wanna get crowns, get the German ones. They cost a bit more but they are more personalised. The technician came to measure everything and suggested what would suit me better. And also I had very bad experiences with the local crowns. Very very bad, so bad that I had to redo them.

Posted

As for the result, I am never more happy with them. Even the current temporary crowns fit nicely.

But my colleagues liked my previous set of teeth better cause they told me I looked squirrelish. Well, whatever rocks their boat.

Posted

oh my....

so..... rich to do the teeth...

i'll stick to my natural ones, yellow or not, and brush them regularly, and floss... till they all fall out/rot, den go for dentures... if i'm still alive by then... gosh... you can't bite into an apple anymore after spending that load of cash... nor chew ice... or bite sugarcane... or even chew gum in some cases...

ooo... sad... oh, do remind me if i ever have oral sex or french kiss... i might suck out one of them crowns... ... eeeee.......

Why do you need dental implant? If I have a tooth that is not in line with the rest, can I remove that tooth and do an implant too?

Posted

if you have money, you can do anything you want to make yourself look better!

the question is, do YOU think you need it? that is a question that only you can answer, right?

Posted

on a more serious note: losing a whole row of front teeth is a terrible thing. You have my sympathy. and money spent to repair such damage is a 'must spend' I agree.

My original post was pointed at those who do it because they want to look good or look better, and actually have perfectly healthy original teeth.

too bad you started flying off the handle, and that branched out into a whole new relm of fun... who in the forum would have known you have six blank files when you had to crown your teeth? can it be crowned if it were all gone??? those are called tooth implants if i am not mistaken... yet another mistake in naming the proper procedure/type of dental work... leading to this... fun... heh...

lets carry on and see where it ends ":)

Can my fellow BWers recommend some good (and reasonably priced/cheap) dentist preferably around town/central area/district for normal teeth polishing & scaling? Furthermore do I need to make prior appointments (how long in advance) or can I just walk-in? Also what are the approximate charges (consultation, polishing, scaling? Thankx :-)

If its just simple polishing and scaling, you can try NTUC Denticare, their rates are quite reasonable and there are many branches all over.

Call their hotline 6336 6222 for all your enquiries.

Anyone who has very good experiences with a dentist?

Haha, I am not referring to sexual experiences but if you want to share that, you are welcome.

I am looking for highly recommended male dentist in the city. Good skills, professional and well equipt. Good looking is a plus for the eyes too, haha.

Well, if PLU better still since we can support some pink dollar biz.

Please share, thank you.

I have been getting my dental treatment in Malaysia and BKK. It is just ridiculously priced here.

I visit dentist regularly.

Even when overseas, do dental check (e.g. include polishing).

I hack care who is the dentist. So long, it is "cheap" and "good job"!

I have seen many dentists. Many of them (their skills) are much better than BDS (NUS) graduate.

Definitely cheaper in Malaysia! Much much cheaper!

It depends on whether RCT for pre-molar or molar. Different pricing mah.

Molar RCT in Singapore cost S$900, whereas Malaysia cost RM800 and above. Singapore Dentists and/or Singaporeans always critisize about Malaysia's standard. Whole hell bullshit. :yuk: Not true. Dental treatment in Malaysia can be equally as good as Singapore's!

A friend did 11 crowns and cleaning in JB. What would easily costs early $9,000 SGD cost him 6,680 RM. Shop around. Still much cheaper and it is just across the causeway.

Hi, I'm looking for a new dentist to go for regular polishing and basic stuff.... Anyone knows one that is good?

Posted

I have one who's very handsome but not very good. I have another one who's very big but not very handsome.

For such routine stuff, dont u just go to the nearest one?

I get mine done in JB. Not classy but they get things done with lots of cost savings. Let me know if you like the info. Can post it here.

Haha the one i go to is nearby. I don't like him cos he plays on my mind to try to go for treatments and other services. I understand it's sales tactics but when it comes to health, not so nice.

how much are they?

I have no idea actually. I'm covered by my company's dental insurance, so I don't pay. But service at Dental on the Bay is excellent.

On the other hand, if you want something that's cheap, I think Q&M should be one of the most competitively priced. I've been to their main outlet at Centrepoint, and unfortunately the service sucks. Despite having made an appointment, I have had to wait over an hour.

Posted

I just had my dental checkup done in Bangkok at Bangkok Smile (a chain of dental clinics) - terribly efficient and very good service at half the price when compared to Singapore's Q&M.
