don't drive if you really don't need to. do the math on the savings.

Noooooooo....... I really love my car.... a simple car that will allow me to roll at a nice steady speed from one end of the country to the other end. without the need to cramp myself together with maybe 1000 other people in a single carriage. No amount of savings will ever sway me from that pleasure.... And even when I am trapped in a traffic jam, I can still enjoy the nice cool comfort of my car with my aircon blowing into my face, and listening to my favorite song streamed from my phone, while enjoying all that space around me...

Stay anywhere except Singapore, the most expensive city in the world. The amount of taxes we pay, high gst are so high. And 20% CPF!

Only spend what you can afford lah.

Only invest what you understand lah.

Learn to cut your losses and not hold on to relationship or investment that you don't see a future.

Alamak... So simple also need people to tell you meh..

Be prudent but not be a miser.

Money or semen?

It is indeed a pleasure to spend money,

it is also a pleasure to afford to spend yet not spend the money.

I'm still an amateur for this hence I'm only advising based on experience. (PS: There is no investment portion as I am not an expert in this. Am still learning and am a low risk tolerance for investment too)

  • Set up multiple banks: 1 for your daily spending (get a convenient bank, e.g. POSB so you can withdraw easily), and 1 for your savings (preferably one that does not have many branches but convenient enough for you to do monthly deposits, e.g. Hong Leong, Maybank [you must be disciplined enough not to use this to spend]
  • Push about 20% of your earnings to this savings account. If possible, you can push the "relatively spare" cash to say investment insurances or other insurances that interest you
  • Spend as per how you can budget (e.g., how much you need for your essentials, i.e. transport, makan, some entertainment, once-a-while-purchases) and stick to this amount as much as possible.
  • Use an Excel spreadsheet to budget and track your spending.
  • If you're not a fan of giving to those whom you think is not worthy of your monies (e.g. church), give to your parents instead. Set aside about 10% for this.
They'd be more willing to help you save or spend for your home-cook food. After all, they gave birth to you and grow you.

Aging is part and parcel of life.  Anti-aging cosmetic wouldn't work, same for slimming parlour.   Try to be anti-social, it help save money, at the same time nobody will notice whether you are good looking or not and that save on recklessly buying skin-care product too.  Do your sum.

To spend or not to spend, that is the Question.

Who calls the shot whether it is the right time to spend YOUR money?

Specifically, your underwear looked anything but cheap,

even more valuable,used and unwashed.

Directly through payment or candle lit dinner or diamond ring, on wedding finger or cock?

Pure frugality may be highly advisable, especially NOW.

You can open the POSB My saving acct. can set every month how much you want to set aside from your saving acct to this mysaving acct. I tried to put in a fixed term but was advised by banker to open my saving acct which have higher interest than fixed term.

First, goto library, borrow and read the book "7 habits of highly effective people".

Then stick to 3, 3, 4 saving habit to portion out 30% of your monthly income into a seperate saving account for setting up emergency fund. Portion out another 30% of your monthly income for studies, knowledge upgrade, yearly travelling. Portion out the last 40% for expenses. Keep total monthly expenses within 40% limit.

Just know how to save money will not make you have a lot of money. Money makes money. You need to let your money work to make more money. During this COVID19 period, that’s not advisable. Keep your money now, avoid unnecessary spending. When the economy recovers, hopefully you would have saved enough to let you money work hard for you.

Being anti-social and homely.   You avoid getting judge by others, you stop comparing yourself with the outside world,  You are less likely to attract to materialistic junk and most importantly, you spend less on travelling and eating expensive foods.  The money saved, can pay for necessities like utilities, internet subscriptions and groceries.  If you rent out a room, being homely will help to keep a close watch on your tenant too.

Don't eat out and make your own meals. I have been doing this for many years and save lots of money. watch YouTube vid on simple mealprep ideas. I usu do my meal preps on Sunday for a week worth of lunch meals. meal preps take at most an hour.
