superflawless
Victims of the scammers meet regularly for meals. Bonding over misfortune. 🤣🤣 🤣When we think of scams, we immediately recall unsolicited phone calls and text messages from strangers trying to deceive unsuspecting victims. We would least expect them to involve our friends, whom we trust and meet regularly. Sadly, it appears even the sacred concept of friendship wasn’t enough to stop the now-infamous luxury goods scammers from Singapore from swindling their supposed ‘friends’ of their hard-earned money. A couple shared that they had lost S$180,000 to the scammers, who are now reportedly on the run in Thailand. Perhaps more concerning was the fact that the victims had considered the scammers their friends and even met them regularly for social activities, such as dining and shopping. In an exclusive interview with CNA, the couple – identified as Jasper and Alice (not their real names) – first encountered the scammers when they bought a watch from Tradenation last September. superflawless
Takes a village... Second Malaysian arrested for helping couple behind luxury goods scam flee Singapore A second Malaysian man has been arrested over his role in helping a couple behind a $32 million luxury goods scam flee Singapore. The 38-year-old Malaysian allegedly conspired with his compatriot Mohamed Alias, 40, to help 26-year-old Singaporean man Pi Jiapeng and his 27-year-old Thai wife, Pansuk Siriwipa escape in a lorry. He was arrested on Friday (29 July) in Malaysia, the Singapore police said. The police said the Royal Malaysia Police had extended “strong co-operation and assistance” in arresting the man, who will be charged on Saturday. On 15 July, Mohamed Alias, who was the lorry driver, was charged for his alleged role in the escape. News article

No space in jail for these freeloaders. But they quite stupid. With so much money, and they still stay in JB. Even if they cannot run away to other countries, they should have stayed in some ulu ulu places in Malaysia. Previously they had people in S'pore who helped them to be smuggled to JB. But once they were in Msia, they didn't know anyone, so it's not easy to move on from there. Or maybe they tried but the Msian lobang took their money and fled without helping them. Put it another way, their luck ran out and karma caught up with them. Who believe they are "penniless" after scamming $32 million? I think they have already laundered the money somewhere. Now all they need to do is to serve a few years in jail and then after that, pull all the money back out and live like a king and a queen for eternity somewhere. On Friday (12 Aug), the court charged Pi and Pansuk with three charges each, including: Two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit cheating One count of illegal departure from Singapore Now .... The offences of abetment by conspiracy to cheat and criminal conspiracy to cheat are both punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to three years, or fine, or both. The maximum penalty for attempted illegal departure will be six months' jail and a fine of S$2,000 dollars. So at most 6.5 years later, not even talking about "time-off", they will both be out of prison at age 32 and 33 to enjoy the rest of the hidden money. I remember watching a criminal mind epsidoe and they said criminal looks calm when they are caught cause all the worries gone, they can relax. Innocent people, on the other hand will panic and restless cause they worried. Wrongly accused. Wrongly caught. Never considered jail etc. Criminals have already thought and weigh that possibilities so they are calm... And probably they tired from the run. And can't see or find a way to escape Malaysia to Thailand without passport. So getting caught is a closure... Then they can escape again!
