So then i apply the cream and stop liao. Now the bleeding is like come and go one and most of the time no pain unless I wipe my anus to hard then the external anus wall will feel pain. This describes my situation completely. I am a relatively young person, I never enjoyed anal sex despite being a bottom and recently I came to the realization that it might be because I have piles/hemorrhoids. While my condition is not serious, I am considering having it fixed permanently so that eventually I will be able to appreciate anal sex on top of taking good care for my health. Are there any gay-friendly anus-doctor-specialist that anyone here can recommend? To be honest it is quite embarrassing and I think a gay-friendly specialist will make me less nervous. Guest Guest
I am not a gay but I enjoy reading some BW posts. I don't do anal sex but I have piles. Super painful for weeks and unbearable. Cannot eat & sleep well. I tried all sort of 坊间流传 remedies, it didn't help at all. I googled BW and other forums to seek help but there are extremely little infos. Anyway, I did a minor surgery at a TCM clinc (Rochor Centre) few years before Rochor Centre is closed. I spent about a thousand dollar plus to remove it. The piles never came back! He is very well known in removing piles and he learned the pile removing technqiues (in Japan early 80s). He has many customers from failed pile surgery (haemorrhoidectomy) in TTSH, MtE & etc. I knew Singaporeans very "kia-see" and "die-die" will go licensed MOH Specialist. At that time, in my mind, if I don't remove the piles, I die of suffering from pain. If I remove it, probably also die at TCM clinic. For me (死马当活马医), I don't make much money and I am poor at that time. I bite the bullet and gave it a shot. Many times, haemorrhoidectomy didn't work. keyboard
Journey of Removal of Piles (again) Medical History: Irritable Bowel Syndrome - Diarrhea (excessive straining) Army time pooping blood like having daily menstrual cycle, a lot of SGH visits, injections, eventually Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy (hemorrhoidectomy). MC was a lot, think after 2 weeks went back to get another 2 weeks or something cos still a bit of bleeding. Sanitary pads daily occurrence. Can't remember if too pain or not but the staple was BIG. Worst part - last time SGH give a lot of laxative (some salt solution to dissolve in 1.5l to drink) until vomit front also. OK for about 15 years then on/off the piles will start to come back. Think 2019 went to public hospital NTFGH, specialist say not bleeding everyday denied surgery. Was told no more injection method - outdated. Daflon does not really help in reality (stops bleeding over time). No touch cos that day piles acting up quite painful. Open appointment come back when worse - went poly clinic route, specialist paid <$100? After circuit breaker got worse due to frequent travel. Most of the time on generic daflon (Diosper) for past two years. Went private GP (consultation + $8 referral letter), booked appointment at nearby colonoscopy clinic and did colonoscopy + ligation of piles on 1 Dec 2022. Specialist was like 1st appointment + 1 week for surgery (to get the Letter of Guarantee). Relatively no pain, IBS kicked in and gassy and constant slight cramps - no idea why. Given strong painkiller (acroxia), daflon, soluble fiber (fibrosol - very no taste, can mix food/drink). Already started pooping in 36 hours, since last meal. Cleansing of colon - phospho soda - worst part start 8pm start pooping at 9:30pm, almost midnight then rest and 1:15 need poop again. then 5am cant sleep need to do another half bottle. Lucky nearby clinic no need take long ride. 9:05 doctor start, sleep, 9:25 finish. 10ish doctor review while on bed. 10:30 ish out of clinic take bus home, alert but not really. Havent got final bill, estimated $4235 ($296 GST ownself pay) Consultation: $200 Facility Fee: $1660 Surgeon Fee: $1350 Anesthetist Fee: $500 IV Drug: $325 Local Injection: $200 Not sure if they do just ligation without colonoscopy but might as well do since have to drink the liquid. 10 days later... Total bill $4744.27 (from CPF website) CPF deducted from MediSave, Hospitalisation 1 day $300, Surgery Table 2C $950 both (max claimable) to the clinic. Final bill (usually 5 weeks follow-up) - 29 days later Consultation: $200 Facility Fee: $1660 Surgeon Fee: $1350 (colonoscopy $1100, ligation piles $250) Anesthetist Fee: $500 IV Drug: $325 Local Injection (chirocaine 5mg/ml): $200 Daflon: $161.70 Fibrosol: $23.10 Arcoxia: $14.10 GST 7% (own pocket): $310.37 First Consult: $120 Phospho Soda 45ml: $16.60 Final Consult: $80 Total damage: $4650.50 + GST $325.53 (out of pocket) Insurance: Took 2 months for them to process and under paid, so wrote in and they said to file another claim for the missing monies (first consult) (likely 3-4mths for full claim). Tough part is that Insurance don't pay the GST, so they paid "Hospital" first, CPF (Medisave), then you. Ended up the Medisave that was deducted first was only partially reimbursed (the rest being GST), which I had to claim under my company's medical benefit. Since I did a top up to Medisave to prevailing limit, the excess was transferred to OA at the start of the next month. keyboard
Update - back a month ago Since there was still some on/off bleeding - think the doc missed one of it last year. Went back to ask if they can check and do another round of ligation the same day. Clinic does afternoon appointment only, had to fast from 8am. Appointment for 3pm, dragged till 4+. Doctor looked and see some soreness (advised to go Daflon route) but I insisted to do ligation - options were 10 secs of pain with local anesthesia (can leave clinic in 20 mins) or general (1.5 hours). Had to rush back to work at 6pm and doctor said it was bearable pain for the injections. Warning: the local anesthesia injections - definitely more than 10 secs, think 7-9 jabs is super painful - the nurse later said it was like natural childbirth pain and yea, the nurse had to use her body to hold me down. 2 days hospitalisation leave but internal piles no feeling one. Marcaine 5MG/ML Injection $200 Daflon 1G 33x$5.10 Ligation of Haemorrhoids $350 - did 2 Consultation $200 Facility $650 Total: $1568.30 + GST $125.46 = $1693.76 As it was same day surgery - own pocket pay then claim insurance (no LOG). Insurance claim (submit online myself) took 17 working days for approvals, next day bank transfer. Discharge form says TOSP Code, Ligation of Haemorrhoids (SF834A/MSP2) not an option on the portal, so selected anyhow next one. https://www.moh.gov.sg/docs/librariesprovider5/medisave/table-of-surgical-procedures-(1-feb-2021).pdf Edited November 9, 2023 by keyboard

Piles is a symptom, so as long as your cause is still there, it will eventually come back. Mine took 16 years before it became noticeable and another 3 years before I bothered enough to go seek public hospital "help" then private to get a quick solution. Young time covered by SAF is staples surgery (that time is poop blood like menstruate like that). Now is ligation/tie (not 100% guarantee fix) but process and recovery is so much easier (don't even need to do colon prep/laxative).

Some said piles are a result of sitting too much in a hot car and as such many taxi drivers got it. After this case, I insist on having lots of fruit juice after every meal. bluerunner
Try sitting on a tub of warm water w salt added inside die 15min once a while. You can get the sitting tub at pharmacy or at clinic. Don’t spend too much time sitting or squatting in toilet. That’s very bad for health. That action induces piles. Doctor recommended to do the stapled hemorrhoidectomy aka PPH While i know stapled hemorrhoidectomy is less painful, but i heard the recurrence of piles is higher than that using traditional hemorrhoidectomy. Is it true? Also the pain is much worse for the traditional one? But how painful is the pain? Right now i am deciding whether to proceed with the stapled or switch to traditional.. This was because I started having problems in my early 20's and didn't get the operation until I was in my late 20's. So the condition just kept getting worse. I remember taking my annual leave so I could take my time to recover. It was roughly 2 weeks for me before I could say I was free of any pain and discomfort when going to the toilet. I used rectinol ointment to help the healing process. The key to easing the pain, is to eat user friendly food because what goes in has to come out. I know if I ate fruit and vegetables and anything with lots of fibre, it was less painful when going to the toilet. Eventually, you will recover and life goes back to normal. They will come back eventually, if you strain too much when going to the toilet. However, I found they will heal within a few days with the ointment. singalion
For piles not to return, it also means that you have to change your way of doing the toilet action. If you keep you previous habits, the piles will build up again. One of the main issues is is you press too much (straining) while release. Try not to rush and to let the stool flow naturally from alone. You also require changing your food habits. One of the causes for hemorrhoids is also if your stool is too hard or it causes frequent constipation. Add a different type of food to your diet to avoid constipation or stool being much too hard. A third layer is exercise. here is a good overview: https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/hemorrhoids_and_what_to_do_about_them

I think it came back after around 5 years, but these are easily manageable with the cream. I used Himalayas' piles cream, can get from Watsons or Guardian. Usually when stressed and severally dehydrated which lead to constipation then the piles would appear. Otherwise so far so good for me. oh ic.. there were no other options other than surgery is it? Like maybe taking meds, etc.. Then did he suggest Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy, or straightaway just the conventional one as surgical options to u? Was there any mc given and how many days? Guest MeToo
Sometimes, I develop external haemorrhoids, often after a night of drinking. To address this, I take ample amounts of diosper, and typically, they disappear within a week, though it's not a permanent fix.

Does ur boss know about this? (Assuming if there was mc given, in one way or another he/she would know right?) The operation is not that uncommon. My Boss at the Time was much older than me but had the same operation when he was younger. I had annual leave available at the time so I just decided to use that to my advantage. I had no deadline to recover, I could just take my time. I remember at the time I was about 5 to 7 kgs over weight. That all disappeared during recovery so I was happy to shed the extra weight. I went and bought some to try too for my acute piles. Also used googled and saw that Tea Tree oil can help with the swelling and its also anti-bacterial. 1 week later, the swelling is almost gone!
