What is the true meaning of V'Day? We had dinner at a hawker center. We share a bowl of Mee Poh and we had satay. Does that consider a V'Day Dinner? I felt absolutely in love, but this is not the usual V'Day Dinner people go for right? From what I understand, my relatives still give them to me, care of my mother, or sister, but I have never seen them ever, so the money is as good as never there in the first place. Since I have been living overseas coming to 11 years, CNY has become a non-event. The MNCs I've worked at tend to do a little acknowledgement of CNY here with the cafeteria decorated with some CNY stuff and serving Chinese food. Other than that, to feel the full blast of the festivities, you have to trudge to Chinatown. So to me CNY is another working day and maybe dinner with a few close Chinese friends.2. Valentine's Day- even if I am attached VD is also nothing special to me. I think there is this consumer pressure from the florists, candy manufacturers, restaurants, card printers etc to make a consumer event out of it. Celebrate whatever you want to celebrate. Make your own important days not what the calendar dictates. Love.Â

Even though single, I give ang paos to my mum and unmarried members of the family and neices and nephews and children of close family friends though there will always be a spare ang pao lying around for the stray that comes by.CNY is a big thing with our family and is usually spent at my mum's place as everyone goes there. Also, to help out when there's a crowd, and it really gets crowded there.I do not celebrate Valentine's Day as there is no reason to. If you are madly in love, everyday is Valentine's Day.
