Guest Family or bf? Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Was planning for some nice dinner & pressie for my bf, bt he dont like celebration, so will just stay at home and wish him happy valentines day... Thats it... So celebrate my own...No flowers? I think you are toasted, he didn't love you. Than may be, he want to spend time with his family for Lunar 15th day of reunion dinner.
bigtommyboysg Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) 要懂得爱自己,才可以去爱别人。One must know how to love yourself before loving anyone else. It's just a date in the month of Feb, nothing more. If the one you love chooses only today to celebrate lavishly with/on you, then wtf is he doing for the rest of the 364 days?As for single person like me, remember there's always your family and friends to celebrate today with. If not, some ben&jerrys, hot cocoa and a good DVD/book is equally good! Edited February 14, 2014 by bigtommyboysg iamziz 1

Guest Guest Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 hey,Valentine's day is coming soon. Being with my boy for almost 5months and it will be our first Valentine's.Being discreet, no one close to me knows i am attached. So i got to act fast and buy something now before everyone gets suspicious buying gift so near to valentines.Ideas? Please dont suggest Photos on cork-board sort of stuff for preference purpose here.Thankyou
vaio Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 No one knows what he needs but yourself. You've been with him for five months, you should realize what he is lacking of (in terms of material stuff) I guess? Or did he ever show interest on sth else before? Try making him a card with your hand written msg, guess this works?
GKS Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) It's an unique experience! My married bf and myself walked into a Chinese restaurant during valentine for a dinner. The entire restaurant are packed with straight couples. I am so surprised not because of the attention from all the straights couples but I unexpectedly felt uneasy while my bf just walked in the restaurant so easily. The feeling was so awkward when you were surrounded with entire straight couple except both of us are two male at a table. Though I felt awkward but he just used his chopsticks and pick a prawn, a slice of fish on my plate. Instantly, I felt the true love. True love is ignoring others perspective but the entire focus zoom on his full love to you. Even though he has ignored the fact that he is married, I am simply amazed a man willing to show his affection to care for you in this occasion. I am a bold person and think I am bold enough to go to the restaurant with him, I appears so tiny and timid under the shadow of the love that my bf showering on me at that time. That moment lingered in my heart for so long. Till now. The stare from the straights couples. We march in. We savour our Shanghai Dishes. The celebration of love. Yes! Since then I have a new perspective of love in Valentine Day. A man willing to show his unconditionally even the social setting is awkward needless to say the love purely generated from a married man. My heart moved as though the cupid has shot me with his arrow. Thank you. Dear. http://youtu.be/JvDAW86vuJ0?t=1m24s Edited January 26, 2015 by GKS Phil 1

Then at 730pm, I'll be at Gardens by the Bay for the Brooks Marina Bay Run half marathon thingy. I have never celebrated Vday, and dont intend to. A word of advice: Make every day special, not just on Vday. Edited January 27, 2015 by PaterTenebrarum

Guest helpme Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Hello guys!! I really need your help! After like 25 years I finally am in a relationship and this will be my first ever Valentine's day that I will be spending with someone else. I'm at a loss of ideas on what to do.Was thinking to go to a nice fancy restaurant, don't mind spending more but I'm scare of the awkwardness of two guys in a restaurant on V day. And I also think it is very common and a bit boring (no offense )Sadly I also do not know how to cook or bake. The only thing I know how to cook is Maggie mee and therefore cooking for him is not a good idea also. Was thinking of booking a night in a hotel but I'm running on a tight budget here and I do not want to settle for a mediocre hotel. Another thing will be the gift. What would be a nice and meaningful gift? I have very bad artistic sense so I don't think making cards will be for me. My bf is also quite well do and I don't think he will need anything also. He likes flowers so I might get him a bouquet.Any ideas or past Vday experience please feel free to contribute and help me! Thank you!

Valentine's Day, to me at least, should be romantic and effortless. Honestly it doesn't really matter where you go and what you do, as long as you get to spend time together for the whole day. You didn't mention what kind of stuff he likes to do but perhaps to give you some ideas, personally I like to go for long walks and have long and deep conversations. So this could be at a nice park or a place with a view e.g. Gardens by the Bay, or East Coast Park. ECP is my favourite cos you can Eat + Cycle + get a couple of beers and sit on the beach + watch the sunset all at the same place. I'd stay away from the movies because essentially you're spending time with the screen, not with each other. Not sure how tight your budget is but i recommend Studio M hotel which costs about $200+ a night (worth it!!!!) Most of us here (myself included) will be spending Valentine's Day alone this year... so cherish this day with him!
Guest helpme Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Yes he likes to spend quality time together so I think beaches is a good idea too. I will also check out studio M hotel. Will take note of this two ideas Thank you!
Guest guest Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 well why not get some lovely savory pastries and perhaps nice cupcakes with drinks .....have a lovely fabric to act as a ground sheet from Ikea which is less than $10 and a simple bouquet of flowers while spending quality time at the park or the beach. I did those before a few times...nothing extravagant ...simple yet elegant with two proper porcelain plates and two glasses from IKea too. You can add a simple tealight placed in a cheap glass container which cost about $2 too from that place. The main thing is to have good quality time together without being extravagant.Just enjoy the moment together.
Guest helpme Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 O wow I was just thinking where to get those nice picnic mat and what to eat at the beach. Really Thank you for the location and ideas to get it. Just a question though, does anyone really gives any weird stare or anything coz obviously they will know we are a couple haha

They are probably jealous of you.
Guest guest Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Indeed we did receive few stares from the public ....but who bothers for we both acted very straight. Last year we had a nice one at Fort Canning ground. There was two other couples (male-female) around. But we just be ourselves ...no public display of affection at all ...we just sat, lie down and talk ... enjoying the tranquility of the evening and i recalled the little caressing evening breeze amplifying the atmosphere. This year i am planning some simple outing too at the beach with him ... maybe i cook my penne pasta w mussels, prawns and zuchinni and home baked chocolate cupcake and jelly ....all served in a cheap but nice porcelain plates from IKEA. If you feel bothersome to carry them back ...well just throw them away in the bin! After all they are v cheap.
EasleyLim Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Get a flashdrive, load some songs into it that holds special meaning for both of you. Super duper effective + completely practical since the flashdrive can be used to store something else. Also good for people who have trouble conveying their feelings in words.
