Rebecca Ferguson: I'm so glad that she got to record and release songs. Her voice is luxurious.

Dido with Greatest Hits? Hmmm...I only know of these tracks: One step too far, Thank you, Here with me, White Flag...and that's it.

I know Here With Me more from Roswell:

Mercury Album of the year: hmmm don't know much most of them.

Retrograde - James Blake

Unfortunately he hasn't much success with the singles released from this album to-date,

Let's see if this win will propel him and the album sales further!

James Blake...unusual style. Overgrown video is a little eerie. Will have to listen to him a few more times to get the hook.

Suddenly heard ABC's The night you murdered love

and leads to King without a crown. They should come for Retrolicious, along with Blow Monkeys

Here's the first single taken from this album,

a 16th-century religious choral work sung in Latin —"Gaudete!" translates as "Rejoice!"...

The Robot was switched off in 1989.
In the equivalent of a robot coma,
stuck in a cupboard, cleared out and destined for a car boot sale
– he was bought by ‘Mum’ for 50p as a gift for her 8 year old.

She installed new batteries and switched the robot on again in August 2013.
The family were astounded that he was still functioning.
After a successful reboot the robot began to analyse his surroundings and before long was ready to speak.

As he began to voice his thoughts,
they realised he was definitely stuck in the 1980s!
They named him… The Retrobot

The Retrobot is amazed and upset by what he sees around him today.
In 1989 Kylie & Jason sang Especially For You and its his favourite record.
Checking out the chart today, a culture shock in itself, he was totally angered by what he saw.

He hates Miley Cyprus, or whatever her name is (he often gets things comically wrong)
– even worse is Baby Gaga, Robin Thicko and Broccoli Spears.

He needed to do something about it.
He was amazed to find out that Mike Stock was not still dominating the charts in 2013,
and persuaded him to come out of his retirement home in Brighton and help promote his Christmas record for the whole family to enjoy...

DuranDuran's songs are a mystery...but recently I was discussing New Moon On Monday with a Gym Bunny. Although the video is about revolution...we think it's about picking up a girl on a Saturday night and the man not able to satisfy his erection. Lol...maybe DuranDuran's songs are more than meet the eye.

Neneh Cherry.. I didn't know... (from wiki)

The song title refers to Buffalo, a group of photographers, models, musicians, hair and makeup artists, etc. formed by fashion stylist Ray Petri, of whom Cherry, Morgan and McVey were all members.[1] Such a "stance" would be to stand like a person or group of people that are posing for a photo shoot in a London fashion magazine.

The song's name is also a reference to Malcolm McLaren's 1983 song "Buffalo Gals", which is sampled in "Buffalo Stance". Other samples came from Rock Steady Crew's "Are You Ready?", and the saxophone break is from the band Miami's 1974 song "Chicken Yellow".[2]

Tim Simenon ("Bomb the Bass") was asked to help with the reworking of the song. Cherry pays homage to Simenon during the song's breaks ("Yeah, Timmy! Tell it like it is!" and "Bomb the Bass, rock this place!").

Cherry notably performed the song live on Top of the Pops while seven months pregnant.[2] Presenter Peter Powell famously commented, "I think she's singing for two there!"

***

Here's the inspiration for Buffalo Stance. It's Looking Good Diving. And you can spot Neneh Cherry playing guitar and in a cab.

New single from Gary Barlow taken from his upcoming third studio album Since I Saw You Last...

Let Me Go - Gary Barlow

Shades of Mumford & Sons there,
and a far cry from his early solo efforts like this one composed by Madonna and Shep Pettibone...

versus

An interesting mash-up new single by Bastille...

Of The Night - Bastille

Can you name the 2 songs and the 2 acts responsible for this track?

15 copies separating these 2 singles in the Top 2 positions this mid-week, with Bastille leading the race!

It remains to be seen who will emerge victorious and claim the pole position this Sunday!

Oh I didn't mention it was Lily Allen who took the crown over the past weekend,

surging ahead of midweek leaders Bastille and Gary Barlow to take the #1 spot with Keane's cover eventually.

Take a bow LILY ALLEN!

Anyway, that's history,
& here's the mid-week Top 5...

#1 (new) Under Control Feat. Hurts - Calvin Harris & Alesso

#2 (new) Love Is On The Radio - McFly

#3 (climber) Story Of My Life - One Direction
#4 (faller) Let Me Go - Gary Barlow
