The much talked-about jacuzzi and steam room area in 89 is located on the third floor, tucked away behind a reception for the gym, aerobics classes, body and foot massage services and the hairstyling studio. At any one time the reception is manned by 3-4 people. Masseurs from an external agency contracted by the hotel loiter at the corridor area leading to the rooms for body and foot massage services. There are about 45-50 female masseurs and less than 10 male masseurs. The jacuzzi and steam room area itself is located in the men's toilet and changing room. HOWEVER, there is no privacy as the area outside the men's toilet and changing room is a washing area for the female masseurs' dirty pails and cloths, which experience HIGH human traffic. Do NOT expect to get into the jacuzzi or steam room nude or with towels on as there are signs on suitable attire. In any event, I did not see any towels provided by the hotel. Harmoni is way better in 'cruisy level'. Am packing up to go back now. So much hoo haa with nothing actually. Oh btw i stripped in the steam room. The sauna is not hot. The jacuzzi is big. Harmoni hotel whirlpool and steam room is tucked in an entirely different and private section from the reception and the gym (which is on the other end of the same level). You collect your towels from the reception after showing your key card, and then you head to the locker section which happens to be at the private section where the whirlpool and steam room is. Like minami said, Harmoni is way cruisier and attracts a good mix of feminine slim twink types (if you're into that) and uncles with firm bodies and dicks. Guys in the late 20s/early 30s category seem to be underrepresented though! And no one bats an eyelid if you go nude in the whirlpool (which doesn't whirl) and the steam room. Though the facilities are a little run-down and in need of a sprucing up/renovation, this is a conducive place to come either by yourself or with a like-minded friend, hunting for prey. Haha. For Hotel 89, in addition to what I mentioned in my post above, the jacuzzi and steam room area is super bright and exposed. No privacy at all and nowhere to 'hide' (if you know what I mean). joe_black Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Just to share this info from my recent trip in early March, went on a groupon package and was brought to all the local touristy places to buy keropok and kueh lapis. Next day hired a local batam driver who is a teochew Chinese to bring me around. explored places like barelang bridge and had good and affordable seafood near the area and visited other local places too. Should try this guide if you want to see the less commercialised side of Batam. And since he speaks English and Chinese, communication is much easier Quote
