Meow, The Cat Lovers Thread

The abuse part is terrible to hear. Hope the perpetrators met some form of justice.

Most of the time, close bonds between animals and humans lead to very touching experiences. A caregiver I met several years ago lost a favoured neighbourhood cat to a hit-and-run car (in the wee hours). She was pretty distraught. After a few of us helped her bury the remains, she'd visit the spot for 7 successive nights, bringing a tape player to play Buddhist hymns, claiming she wanted to soothe the soul of the poor cat. On day 7, she just walked into a 7-11 outlet and bought 4D, and she struck 2nd prize on it. And she spent all that money sponsoring the medical bills of more strays, saying that the spirit of her dead cat asked her to do so.

Another somewhat amusing anecdote that I witnessed myself was a black-and-white, who'd lived below a block of Elderly Flats. The old uncles and aunties would usually ignore him, though a couple of them'd regularly feed him. One day, this old (70+) uncle bought a durian, and sat at the void deck. He called the cat and the cat walked over to him. Then he offered the cat a piece of durian, saying that he wanted to share his expensive fruit with him. Both a lady volunteer and I were rather amused to see the cat patting his paw against the uncle's arm as he ate that piece of durian... then the uncle nodded and said loudly, "I will buy that number!"

And yes, he struck top prize 4D. And he went to buy a whole darn durian for the cat. And yes, cat ate durian. Much to the collective amusement of the other residents.

Two weeks after the incident, another uncle (animal-hater) saw the same cat sitting by the letterboxes at the void deck. He walked up to the cat and kicked the cat. Of course, this resulted in the other residents screaming blue murder at him. When I visited with the regular feeder that night, the poor cat was limping on his right hind leg. The same night, a motor accident occured right in front of that block of flats. A car ran up the kerb and broke the right leg of that old uncle who kicked said cat.

Both are real anecdotes, and were witnessed by a number of people. :)

You stories are amazing , wonderful and inspiring, and I believe you, because I know all animals have souls, plants have feelings.

Even the rocks...everything in this universe, is about....quantum energy

I believe in karma strongly because I have seen it with my own eyes , how it works.

Sometimes instantly, or very slowly and when you least expect it to happen to you.

Post more then.

Our Singapore stray cat is not the typical stray that one may find in other countries. They are highly urbanized cats, with a higher human interaction than probably anywhere else. And yes, they often have a hyper persona too....

(I'm imagining . and other cat-lovers do this while seeing all the meow pics here....)

The cat pictures are nice. I would like to join in the next outing to shoot cats. Miaow.

Meow~? This thread has no such outing to do such awesome stuff yet..

Actually, I have had a couple of low-profile outings so far, to different parts of Singapore to visit the strays.

Its just that I do not want to publicise the locations and also want to keep the outing small.

Groups of 4 pax or less wont attract unwanted attention from passers-by or grumpy residents.

Any takers to have another meow outing?

Awww, poor thing you, Boon. Nvm, here's a cute meow to cheer you up.

Anyways, I usually plan meow outings 2-3 weeks ahead. There are night outings 8.00pm-9.45pm, and morning outings. Then there is a Meow-Hair-Massage outing, which has to be planned at least 2 weeks ahead, as prebooking is required to ensure the "masseur" is free. *ahem*.

:D

If the cat has eye discharge, best bet is to just use a damp tissue (tissue, not wet wipe!) and help them clean it off. For some (like a couple of the cats in my pics), it can be a frustating factor that may cloud their vision. Worst case though is that its eye disease, which happens, but is very very rare.

A Meowy event, if fellow Meow Lovers are interested. Invite was sent to me by CWS.

Well-Informed Wednesdays

with Cat Welfare Society

: Session № 4 :

CATS VERSUS HUMANS

...

30th May 2012, Wednesday

7.30 pm @ BooksActually

People are always pitting the needs of human and cats against each other. Cat lovers know that is simply futile -- because at home, the cat always wins. On the streets however, there are people who are given to believe the existence of one is to the detriment of the other. In this light-hearted session, Cat Welfare Society will be exploring wacky and humourous ways to let these kind of people know that like it or not, the cats are here to stay. Come join us and let your imagination run amok.

Great photos!! Cats are awesome but parents dislike them. Sigh

Haiz. Same here. Can only enjoy them outside of home. :(

Sorry for the poor quality but meet Miranda! She specialises in distraction (:

Sweet! Actually house cats seem to like to park themselves on laptops and keyboards... a not-so-indirect message to us methinks. LOL.

Anyone here wanna go visit stray cats this Sat morning 9.30-11.00am?
