I am also looking at Antarctica and SA, but isn't Nov a bit too early, esp with regards to wildlife and weather? I know it's cheaper and less crowded though. I am planning for Feb cos I am into whales, and maybe crossing the Antarctic Circle.

I find it better to lay things out in the open when travelling with a stranger who's supposed to be your new friend. Worse scenario: to have a big disagreement while overseas and you struggle to drop the other person like a sack of poisonous meat or to carry out with the burden of continued travel with the new toxic friend.

Free and easy. Don't mind tour group travel though. There's always time for extras in the middle of the night.
