He is a very down to earth young man and was surprised by how his passionate speech went viral. Right now he is focused on fighting equality for the LGBT community and yes, he is straight. As a community, we all need all the straight allies we can get. He was around 18 when this speech was recorded. Best part, he wasn't even aware that he was being recorded by someone's flip cam. The person who recorded it, uploaded it and it took a while before the video caught on and went viral and the media started calling and requesting for interviews. It was then, that he realised the impact of his speech. All he wanted was for his moms to experience the same rights he has, and started his movement to educate and speak across the US to show that your sexual orientation or preference has zero impact on your character or the character of your children.
