Guest guest Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 during younger days we cant be bother to carry any medicine on holiday trip. But once u reach a certain age extra medicine come in handy? esp when travel to country like china or some country that food are not clean.
iamziz Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 If you are on medication, you should be carrying and make sure they are in proper packaging to avoid unnecessary questioning by customs. I carry them when I am recovering from mild sickness when I need to travel, else there are pharmacies you can get medications when needed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 善待对人。麻烦用英文来表达信息。不是每个人都会看的懂中文 。| “People need to learn the art of making an argument. rocker.band Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 This is a MUST for me every time I travel. No matter is just near like Bangkok, or far till Europe, I do carry.Only in small quantity, with label n packaging, (if there's any perscription, MUST carry along), when customs check, you know how difficult some country it is.i encounter some, even Panadol not allowed, is ok, i just throw, then purchase some painkiller in drugstore there,and... ... when you are in drugstore there, you will see some medicine that don't sell locally, ha ha.
Guest Meds Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I always carry ever since young. No fun having to hunt down pharmacy when you are sick, especially when you are traveling alone. Parasol for fever, baojiwan for stomach upset, and my migraine meds. Also bring some supplements as well, vit c and zinc to strengthen immunity, magnesium for muscle aches and relaxation.
lonelyglobe Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 regardless of age, definitely a must to places like Cambodia, was there a few years back and had a terrible diarrhea, went to one local shop selling medicine and the staff cannot really understand English, finally they gave me some medication, there was no english label and you got no idea what was that for but instinct told me that was for constipation, I try my best to explain and act, finally they gave me another medication and after taking this, lucky the diarrhea stop and this must be the correct one phew....(imagaine you have diarrhea and still take the constipation medication um....)
bluerunner Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Yes I will carry some basic/essential ones when I travel. They will become handy in situations where you least expected.
wantonmee Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 regardless of age...u shld carry the basics as medications differ from country to country.so if u used to certain types of medication here, it is advisable to bring your own set.standard in my set are panadol, clarinase, optrex and axe brand medicated oil (don't laugh..) and don't forget travel size lubes and condoms... is that medicine?
iamziz Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 and don't forget travel size lubes and condoms... is that medicine? thorzguy Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 One never know when you need those medicine, especially in the middle of a night or at some remote location where basic first aid is not prevelant. My usual "companion" of medicine for any overseas travel include - paracetamol, naproxen sodium (for my headache) and po chai pills. Charcoal pills doesn't work for me. Anyway, these medicine barely add on to the luggage weight but merely some tiny little space, so why not?
keyboard Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I had the unfortunate event where i needed some powdered glucose in a place like Australia during a business trip. You run into things where pharmacy staff do not know what you are talking about because they don't carry the same brand as Singapore. The difference in language used to find things is very different even though we are in Asia and finding your way in a shopping district and asking around is tedious when you are not feeling well too. If you are on holiday and with friends, at least have one designated friend who brings all the medicines. Don't put it in your checked luggage. All medicines should be in prescribed packages, have one clear plastic bag to keep all of them together for easy customs inspection.
lonelyglobe Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Apart from medication, if you have travel insurance, then just visit their clinic or hospital, keep all your receipts and come back to do a claim.
Guest wozzit Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 No fun having to hunt down pharmacy when you are sick, especially when you are traveling alone. Totally agree. Apart from any medications u r taking, have a simple accident kit with u for headaches n upset stomachs, cuts, bruises, sprains, colds n so on. Local pharmacies may not b nearby or open overnight.
darkflame Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I usually bring some diarrhoea medicine and panadol (both cold relief and headache).Plus listerine in case I bit the inside of my mouth by accident. I'm always running after you. You are my ideal. You are me.
alien Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 It is gd to have a habit to carry basic medications when travel, just in case u cannot find a pharmacy or cant go to buy medicine. Fo those pple who are in long-term medication, confirmed must rem to bring along ur medication whenever u travel. 对自己好是一种幸福, 对别人好是一种积福。 Spend time counting your blessings, not airing your complaints.
MrGOH Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 The question is everyone also carry their medication , so why not ?
Anderson Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I always bring along a small pouch of medication when I travel, just in case you need it and not available easily (eg late at night in the hotel) containing - PanadolImmodiumCharcoal tabletsElastoplast They are inexpensive and I usually replaced them after about 1 year.
4evaboring Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 panadol flu max and baojiwan/charcoal pill are the 2 i will always bring along when i travel
wintersnow Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 dont really have the habit of doing because most of the time, im travelling in cities so medication should be quite accessible but recently started to bring some of my sprays and so on with me and things became messy. not sure if its the air pressure in the flight or what, the spray on medicine bottles will be leaking each time i bring them abroad. i also used to have an encounter of unable to get paracetamol for my ex who was running a fever due to language barrier. i knew that they only have Tylenol (another brand of paracetamol, usually used by amercians) but for some reason, either they dont understand me or they dont have them and gave me one that they claimed was paracetamol tabs as well but of a different brand and words in their native language. of course i rejected cos i didnt want to kill my then bf and poor him got to endure. luckily he was feeling much better after a sleep the next day
