Typically in a Japanese Onsen/sento, bath towels are not to be immersed into the bath water. You can hold it/cover your bits when walking around but most people don’t really care. Those who care are obviously those that want to watch. 
Eyeglasses are fine, just wear if you need to or you can’t see what you want to see anyway 😆

Go maybe around 4 or 5pm. If go later, quite likely will need to queue and wait for a locker to become available.
Most guys do not carry a towel, or at most just a wash towel. I don't recall anyone wrapping towel around their waists.
Glasses will be disadvantaged if they fog up,  suggest use anti fog, or wear contacts.

after working hours more crowd. most of them walk naked but there are of course some with the small towel. eyeglasses up to you bah, like any other onsen.

 

a funny (or turn on for exhibs? haha) thing is that over the flyover directly in front of the konpira onsen, u can actually see the 2nd floor of the onsen - the window is not fully transparent, but not opaque either... can definitely see silhouettes of naked men inside if you're near the window

I read there is an outdoor sento at konpira, is this correct?  I prefer outdoors so my glasses dont fog up.  My eyes are so bad that contact lenses are extremely expensive and anti fog wipes really dont work.

So i visited konpira today... It was a 20 minute walk from my hotel.  Taking the train takes just as long so I just walked to gather my nerves.

I've been looking for one too. Spa LaQua as @murano mentioned is a good one, but small compared to the size of Spa World. The most comparable ones I've seen are in Busan South Korea. Centum Spa Land and Heosimcheong are worth visiting if you're there. And in Seoul, Paradise City CIMER near the Airport - but it's quite expensive.

I showered and left. The types of people ranges - from the twinks to working adults. All gorgeous in their own way. It was overwhelming. This occured almost everyday even in the morning. 
 

I noticed that the hostel was offering memberships for locals to shower and use the facility after work before heading home.

 

Overall, the place was clean. Beds were comfortable and location were really convenient to the malls, gay bars and a short distance to the airport. The place does get crowded during peak hours as everyday people and tourists were using the buses provided to commute around. In comparison to other accommodations, this is perfect for solo-travelling and if you’re on a budget. 
 

 

I am going Fukuoka next week but will be staying in hotel.  No hostel.  Are therer any good massage places in Fukuoka?  Preferably around the Hakata area?

Those ones mentioned in Tokyo are significantly more expensive and high end compared to Spa world.

You are not going to have the same sort of clientele because of that.  I would hazard to guess that you are not going to get much cruising except by pure chance.

 

I believe they are a few smaller places in Tokyo which are frequented by cruisers. I have seen on Youtube 🤣

Yes, when i was there in Nov last year. One old man slipped and went into a coma and the grandma had to call an ambulance to send him to the hospital. What amazed me later was that the local men were hanging around naked while the emergency workers are tending to the old man.

The steam room is another good spot. The best time to go is around 8-9pm as there are less kids.
