Keep on seeing their advertisement on INSTAGRAM 😬. Attended one of their talks pre-COVID. SYFE seems to have a lot of stuff on their site. Never use their service. Making $$?

I've started investing in Syfe. Small amounts, for now. The trends are fluctuating, at best. Anyone else has started investing with robo advisors? Please do share!

Building an investment portfolio
tjan_troy replied to HG20's topic in Investments's General thoughts
Hi, I am interested in building an investment portfolio. For retirement planning as well as I believe the current and future economy creates a vast opportunity ahead. I hope to find someone to network and learn a thing or two. Hopefully can find a mentor. I’m also interested in property investments. Have anyone heard about the I Quadrant? Have anyone known them personally or have attended the course? -
Wow, which bank is that? What's the baseline capital you invested to get averaged monthly 10% profit? Thought it's quite impressive for forex since it's quite volatile.
-
I just invest in a bank to do forex trading for me. So far averaging at least 10%/mth returns plus a insurance portion then covers all the loosing trades..

Investing in local commercial properties
sitogang replied to Zerosum's topic in Investments's General thoughts
The prime office rents have been doing well year-on-year: https://sbr.com.sg/commercial-property/in-focus/singapores-prime-office-rents-237-in-q1 Not only due to limited supply in CBD, a quick expansion of co-working spaces like WeWork has big influence in reducing the office vacancy, may not be sustainable considering those co-working spaces are still losing money in billions, few of them even have obvious short-term target on just chasing for IPO. -
Investing in local commercial properties
Zerosum replied to Zerosum's topic in Investments's General thoughts
I got my property license and have been learning from the others how to research and market properties so I guess that will be my preliminary research? I think good grade offices are not exactly profitable in our current climate. Most of my calculations and the cases that I've handled or come across, it seems that shophouses are the most profitable. REITs might have good upfront return and liquidity but it also lacks the capital gains that could have otherwise happened. Also, when buying a property, we only use a small percentage of our own money & leverage heavily on the banks. I'm hoping to save up sufficient to buy shophouses in the near future. -
There has been a number of robo-advisors (automated platforms that does trading in ETFs mainly, with automated algorithms to do re-balancings when necessary). Anyone familiar with them and grateful if those with know-how or experience can share their views on this. There are 3 players now in the market (I think). Just wondering if its good idea to invest with them. Many thanks in advance. regards, David

Good grade office space and shop houses probably still a good investment here. But strongly suggest to explore REITS for its liquidity and relatively good return. -

Anyone interested in investing in local commercial properties in Singapore?

investment moats is one of my many sources to use for tracking returns. I have tried trial versions by financial times (http://www.ft.com) and also by simplywall.st (http://www.simplywall.st). Personally, I prefer simplywall.st as it is colourful and interactive with analysis of the business fundamentals from a big data pool. both resources cover a broader range of economies - beyond Singapore.

Haha I bought G K Goh quite a while back as my value investment play. They’re somewhat like a investment holdings company ie holding on to different stocks/ownership in private co. calculated the value of stock to be about $1.5 but it was trading way below that. And I like the idea that they’re focusing on premium old aged care which I think will be a strong market in Singapore. in any case, the stock has since tumbled quite a bit but I’m still happy to hold on until it’s fundamentals truly deteriorates.

If you’re intending to build an investment portfolio, one super impt thing is to track its results. previously I used my own spreadsheets but it was messy and I was quite lazy to update. But I found a super useful resource online by a financial blogger: http://investmentmoats.com/stock-market-commentary/portfolio-management/introducing-our-free-stock-portfolio-tracker-spreadsheet/ have been using this for past year and found it hyper useful. Though there’s now some issues for the auto update for SG stocks, I’m fine to put some stuff manually. Have fun investing!

On and off I’ve been investing for 10+ years and for at least half of that time, I made a huge fallacy: to just focus on individual investments instead of the investment portfolio. So why is it bad to just focus on individual investments? Your investment returns (whether good or bad) may just be too insignificant. Previously I purchased breadtalk at 40+ cents and based on current price (0.88), I have doubled my investment. But I only invested approx 2K in it. So my absolute returns was also only about 2K. Personally felt that if I was convinced by the stock, I should have put in a much larger sum. Assuming a portfolio of 50K, the 2K would have been only 4% and may not have created the intended outcome. I think others have written way better on portfolio management so here’s one I just read and felt was super applicable to us and simple enough to follow: https://financialhorse.com/all-weather-portfolio-for-singaporeans/amp/ Please share your investment portfolio strategy if you have one. Will be good to learn from each other

Companies chasing the pink dollar

What is a good stock to invest in right now? Any suggestions? -
I wonder how much people will pay for such match making services though. Attended one called 7for7 before and the organizers didn’t do it as a for-profit thing. But I guess the “business of love” is always huge and there are definitely opportunities within in for our community. Maybe there’s a unique angle we can brainstorms about.
