I’m surprised SAFRA pools are so liberal, being the official National Service recreational facility. Then again, baring my bottom to fellow company mates was part of my national service obligation, and it seems being part of a brotherhood involves being totally comfortable with each other’s nudity, so I suppose that’s why they accept it. 😛

I choose a right time to wear it. Like if the pool is crowded with families and kids, i'll refrain from wearing it. Usually lunch time is good.

Personal experience… I will only wear the white color trunks when it’s less crowded. It will minimize unnecessary attention from others.

Open layout, no hidden areas.

Lots of gym goers coming and out of change room.

Agree. The gym goers walking in and out, just to wash hands so often and posting in front of the mirror is killing the vibes.

At both end is 1.2m, center part and a 1.8m

As for skimpy trunks, like I mentioned before, all your lucky lo. Seen all sorts as long as no one complain. When in those kind of trunks just don't keep parading yourself lo. Than sure kena pull out. Also some pools like Katong on certain timing are relatively quiet so no one want to spoilt the tranquility la. Not as if our lifeguards never seen before. They are not policeman, they are there for safety and making sure people don't accidentally drown.

Just out in the 9pm news that Goodman Art Center, which is located opposite the pool could be used for housing project in near future. If that happens, Katong pool will be in danger too. Sigh. 😞

think the aim is to maximize usage afterall no pools are making any profits with the high maintenance here. also cheaper to rebuilt than to upkeep the old model pools and facilities. a pity if it really get demolish, so few of such old charms. all down history lane, nothing for the next gen to admire.

They are very badly designed. V cramped, and don't have the airy high ceilings of old school pool bathrooms. If you visited Heartbeat @ Bedok pool you will get what I mean. The floors of the showers are perpetually wet, and the whole place very humid.  They have to turn on the giant floor blowers non stop. Very unpleasant to use. Can't even find a decent dry spot to dry my feet and put on my shoes.

Heartbeat pool’s changing room has poor ventilation. The moment you step out of the shower cube, you start to perspire. 
The shower room is also very narrow. I don’t know why people still want to bring the bag inside. Make the whole area even more uncomfortable.

i think they will close katong because the big, modern ocbc pools are nearby, plus as mentioned above, building something else is much more profitable

OCBC aquatic is not fully opened to public. Priority is given to elite swimmers. Only when the pool is not used by them, public can go in and swim. 
The World Cup venue is also the same. It is not permanent. It will be around until 2030. Like OCBC Aquatic, priority given to elite groups.
